Beds were perfect. Village so quiet and so friendly. Cottage a 2 min walk from a fabulous beach, also great walk on costal path through dunes. We attempted a walk to lighthouse however half way there encountered a large pod of seals, so rather than disturb we cut our walk short. Aden Country park well worth a visit. The Bruce Butchers fab meat and selection of pies in Fraserbrough. Only wish we lived closer for a return visit. Missing the beach already.

  • "The cottage is ideally situated for the beach - 4 mins at normal walking pace or 2 at excited doggy pace!"

The cottage has everything needed for a pleasant stay. L9ved seal watch8ng and beach combing!! A couple of things that would make it even better are a dishwasher, a pulkey in the washhouse (for when not able to put stuff out) and an outdoor table and chairs as benches are too low for eating outside. That said one of the most restful holidays in a while - thank you.

We took our 2 year old dog with us and she loved every minute. The garden is wonderful and the beach, which is a 2 minute walk away, just takes your breath away. St Combs has to be the friendliest village we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The people are lovely, I don't think we walked past one person without at least a nod and smile of hello. We will definitely be back again and would highly recommend staying in Viola cottage.

Delightful garden which will be secluded in the summer when the shrubs are in leaf but not entirely dog proof for our escape artist hounds! Beach walks closeby are a huge plus. Short, easy drive to main shops in Fraserburgh. All in all would highly recommend.

The cottage was cosy with a nice enclosed garden keeping kids or pets safe. Tall people need to be wary of low door frames typical of the age of the property. The kitchen was well equipped bed was comfortable. A real home from home. There is no local food shop so be prepared to drive out, although there is a chippy/Ice cream shop. We saw seals on the coast and even saw fish in the rock pools.

The wonderful beach is a 3 minute walk away- our dogs loved their twice daily trips to it. The cottage is warm, clean and well equipped. A lovely welcome basket was much appreciated. Comfortable beds and a good bathroom. We loved the wee utility room for getting dogs dried and fed. They also loved the garden as did we. Beautiful sunrises! Would have attached a photo but function not available. Was super to sit in the kitchen talking about our trips out and planning our days. Loved the hoover- so many cottages do not have good hoovers but this was a good one to get up sand and crumbs. Visited Peterhead Prison Museum, the Museum of Lighthouses and Aden Country Park. We will certainly be back. Thank you.

Very comfortable and equipped, lovely welcome pack. Doorways are low as they are an original feature of the cottage, could be more local information like doctors, hospitals vets, walks local places to visit etc. We know it's impossible to say a garden is secure which this for a dog larger there are a couple of exits if you have a small escapee like we have he managed to get out and chase a local cat. But overall a brilliant little cottage.

The short walk to the beach. The peace and quiet of the village. The suntrap garden. Buchans Ices and fish & chips. It all made for a fantastic week away from it all, for us and our two dogs. We would recommend it to anyone and would have no problems coming back in the future. The welcome items were a very nice touch and after arriving slightly early, giving us the 'go get yourself inside' made us feel welcome. The only negative thing we could find was the surprise of the two gardeners that appeared without warning. If this has been highlighted in the welcome pack, we wouldn't have been so shocked.

Lovely secure tidy garden with seating areas. We loved our stay there only criticism was there wasn't much to do in St Combs itself for my mother who can no longer go for long beach or country walks. • "Firstly, looking at the price of Viola Cottage we were charged and the price it is being advertised this Autumn my daughter and I feel it was much too high."

Last year we would have expected to pay about £600 for such a property and although we realise coronavirus has altered prices, at least I hope, temporarily - it was too high. A fairer price would have been around £700. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean but there were no bath towels and those that were there were like hand towels and in a cupboard in the utility room - the choice of crockery and cutlery fell short with nothing matching and there wasn't even a single wine glass in the cupboard and I am sure most people when on holiday may want a glass of something! As for the rather arrogant notice sent to us the day before we left instructing us how to leave the cottage I certainly took offence. My daughter and I have owned holiday cottages in the past and everyone's standards are different. I would not have dreamt of sending such a notice. I know how to leave a holiday cottage - just as I found it, spotless and tidy with the beds stripped and the linen folded in the bath. A sad ending for me not to be trusted.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Viola Cottage. We confirm there are now wine glasses at the property also. We are sorry for the issues you had with Sykes Cottages as the majority of your comments are aimed at Sykes and you find us not to be trusted. We do send out a note to all guests before they leave, it is only a courtesy we are sorry you took offence at this, many guests find this useful. The pricing is also managed by the pricing team at Sykes and this is very clear when anyone makes a booking. If you had let us know of any issues whilst you were away we would have liased with the owner to get these rectified. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

About the location

FRASERBURGH

Peterhead 17 miles; Portsoy 33 miles; Aberdeen 40 miles.

Fraserburgh is situated just along the north east coast from Aberdeen and borders the mouth of the Moray Firth. Whilst it is still a busy fishing port the number of boats has decreased dramatically over the years, although todays boats are far bigger than they were in bygone days. The town itself is a real community with a strong Football team and impressive 18 hole golf course, the 7th oldest club in the world believe it not, established in 1777. With its modern clubhouse vistors are most welcome and can enjoy the bar, dining room and lounge areas that overlook the course and sand dunes. The mueseum of Scottish Liighthouses is based in Fraserburgh and is well worth a visit and gives a real insight to the history of the Lighthouses in the north of Scotland. Fraserburgh is a beautiful seaside town with a rich history and an award winning beach. Inverallochy 18 hole golf course is within walking distance of Fraserburgh. Nearby is the RSPB Loch of Strathbeg which is one of the best places for wildlife in the UK as well as Aden Country Park within easy reach with 230 acres of parkland to enjoy.
