  • "Second stay here, came last year for a week but it wasn't long enough so two this year."

Ideally situated for visiting east, west and inland. Lots of amenities nearby but the wilds only a short drive away. Lots to see and do, we didn't want to leave. Probably be back next year.

  • "Loved this cottage, a great base for seeing Nairn and the Highlands."

The kitchen had just about everything we needed. The double bed was broken on arrival but after contacting the land lords, Phillip was quick to respond and fixed the bed so it was completely comfortable after that. It's a cosy cottage but with a lovely big kitchen and lots of games and activities to keep us entertained during our holiday there.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Deskford cottage although due to illness we had to come home 2 days early."

The cottage is well situated around a 30 minute walk to town centre. The cottage was clean, well furnished, the bed was very comfortable and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The owners lived next door and were very quick to respond to a couple of wee problems. We would not hesitate to return and definitely recommend a stay here.

  • "We had a great stay at Deskford Cottage."

The cottage was super clean and lovely and cosy. Everything was there to make life comfortable, a fully equipped kitchen, two lovely warm bathrooms, a comfy sitting room and two gloriously light bedrooms with velux blinds to make them dark at night. The position of the cottage in Nairn was ideal. Walking there is a handy supermarket just down the road as well as a patch of woodland. The beach is only a 15 minute walk and in the opposite direction over the level crossing there is countryside with public footpaths to discover. By car, Nairn is in a great situation. We went to Culbin Forest, Knockando woollen mill, Dulsie bridge and Ardlach watchtower, Dullas castle, Loch Ness and Grantown on Spey. We had such a lovely time. Thankyou Phill and Karen I hope we can return very soon.

Feedback, there could be a better larder in the kitchen. We’re used to having the basics ie oil, salt, pepper, vinegar, items you don’t really need a lot of but handy for cooking.

Well equipped and very clean. The welcome pack was lovely and we had a change of sheets and towels in the middle weekend as we stayed for 2 weeks which was quite unusual and much appreciated. Short walk into Nairn shops and beachfront so good location too

We've been to The Highlands many times since the 90s so we know it quite well and find this location ideal for trips in all directions. Already booked for next year but for two weeks this time, one just isn't long enough.

The property

Very well-presented and welcoming semi-detached stone cottage on the outskirts of the pretty coastal town of Nairn in the Scottish Highlands.

Presented to an excellent standard with great attention to detail this cottage would be ideal for a family or group of friends who want to spend time together exploring this lovely part of Scotland.

The cottage is deceptively spacious with two sunny bedrooms on the upper floor along with a shower room and on the ground floor there is a second bathroom, very well-equipped kitchen with dining area and cosy sitting room with woodburning stove, just perfect for cosy nights in after an active day.

There is a parking area to the front with bench seating and a fully enclosed private garden where barbecues and alfresco dining can be enjoyed on the warmer days.

The town of Nairn itself has much to offer but the main attraction has to be its beautiful stretch of golden sandy beach where visitors can walk for miles taking in the unspoilt beauty of the area.

Pretty little shops and cafés are dotted around and if you continue northwards along the Moray Firth coastline there are an abundance of small fishing villages, each with their own history and visitor attractions.

Leaving the coast why not pick up the famous Malt Whisky Trail and drive through some of the country’s most stunning scenery, stopping off at the distilleries along the route.

Nairn is close to the capital city of the Highlands, Inverness, and a drive around the banks of famous Loch Ness partaking in a spot of Nessie hunting can be great fun.

This is a fabulous part of the world and this pretty and welcoming cottage will ensure an amazing holiday for all.

About the location

NAIRN

Inverness 16 miles.

Nairn is an attractive and lively seaside town dating back to Victorian times. It has long been a popular holiday destination and is just 16 miles from the town of Inverness. Nairn even lays claim to being one of the driest and sunniest places in the country! The town offers some of the top beaches in Scotland and cleanest bathing waters in Britain. Also, one of the only two dolphin colonies in the UK is based in the Moray Firth. Nairn is steeped in history and is closely linked with the Battle of Culloden, whilst nearby Fort George is Europe’s best preserved 18th century military fortification. Shakespeare’s famed Cawdor Castle and Brodie Caste are both within 15 mins drive. Golfing enthusiasts will be attracted to the two 18-hole championship courses, including the Nairn Golf Club, and the town also has an outdoor tennis court as well as a squash court for hire. The yearly Nairn Highland Games in August draws a wide crowd and The Nairn Book and Arts Festival is a popular year event. Whitewater rafting, tubing and cliff jumping are all available for those with a spirit for adventure. Day trips from the local airport are available to Orkney and Shetland and the Cairngorm National Park with skiing and hiking are within 1 hour.
