  • "Out of all the places we have booked through Sykes, this has got to be the worse one ever."

We believe the owners normally use this property for builders use away from home, hence no usual holiday let touches. The dishwasher kept tripping the electrics and understand this was an ongoing issue which the owner claimed he knew nothing about, but the cleaning lady said he was informed. When the electrician pulled the dishwasher out the whole space was sodden and resulted in the kitchen floor lifting in places which is a health and safety issue in my opinion. The bed linen, towels were the worst quality I have ever seen. One of the beds had a sheet that didn't fit and looked uninviting to sleep in so had to buy a sheet myself. No mattress protectors on the beds. Mattress dirty and poor quality. No dustbins in bathroom. Lights not working in several locations. No bath or shower mats. Very dirty under beds and cleaning not to a high standard. No welcome or information pack left and as this was very rural it would have been very handy to know where restaurants and takeaways were. Large bit of wood hanging down from the ceiling. Rain coming through hall ceiling and ceiling very soggy in parts. Toilet seat broken. The owner did order a new dishwasher, but quite frankly the issues are more health and safety than washing up a few plates. He seemed to think by getting a new dishwasher this would be the end of the issues. This property needs regular maintenance and inspections, which judging by the decor and general state of the place does not happen so if the owner is taking money from hard working people he should look at his property before taking any bookings. I suppose some owners have no scruples.
