The kitchen is really well-equipped compared to other places we have stayed in, and being able to have breakfast while watching the birds in the garden was a joy! Ideally situated just a few minutes walk from shops and cafés, with the Anglesey Coast Path at the end of the road.

The only worry was the staircase as my Mum is 84 with limited mobility but this was our problem and she coped. Perhaps a rope handrail on the left hand side or a warning in the description for elderly people...

  • "The property is very compact and I would not recommend it for anyone that is tall, because of the low door frames, nor anyone that is not good on their feet, because of the stairs."

Other than those points it was very clean and ideally sited for walking into town. . Parking could be a problem in busier times. Disappointed that the welcome pack was a bottle of wine and a bag as we are used to receiving more useful items like a pint of milk, butter etc. Unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us and it does tend to bias the feedback.

The constant ‘pip pipping’ of cars coming around the corner became quite annoying especially from 7am, we appreciate this is not the owners responsibility. Things to improve- The bathroom basin has no plug which made shaving difficult. No hair dryer, which would have been nice.

Hi Nicola, Thanks for the lovely comments, and you are welcome back anytime. Thanks for your feedback about the plug, I didn't know this had gone missing, so this has now been replaced and also a new hairdryer has been purchased. Property Owner

  • "The property is in a great location."

Although parking is not available near the property you have to use the car park situated about a 10min walk at £6 a day and overnight which I think should be noted in the details for the property. The property is damp, unfortunately we had quite a bad leak in the bathroom (which is situated downstairs) I thought initially from the shower however after I had contacted the owner she explained that it was a build up of silt in the pipes outside causing the water to come into the bathroom due to the amount of rain. Dont get me wrong the owner sorted the problem but because of the intense smell of damp in the property I believe it’s an ongoing issue and needs to be resolved. The amount of woodlice was disturbing not just a few on the floor but actually climbing the walls. All the crockery had to be washed before use and the fridge/freezer needs some attention it’s completely frozen up. Washing machine is rusty inside so i opted not to use it. The cottage is lovely and well equipped it was the issues above that spoilt it for me. Would I book again - no sorry! For the money I paid it did not meet my expectations nor did it meet the description advertised.

After 4 days of heavy rain unfortunately some silt had built up in the outside down pipe and caused some water to ingress into the bathroom. After you notified us my sister came straight away and drove for over an hour to come and assist and sorted the problem, we had never had this issue before and hope to never have this again. After keeping in touch with you after this you advised that everything was ok and so I am surprised to see that you feel that there were other issues which you have documented on here which I could have sorted during your stay. We always encourage our guests to advise us of any problems at the time so we can look into it. We have always had good reviews as you can see previously and had many bookings over the last couple of months with no complaint. With regards to parking there is on street parking around the corner that is free of charge and which all the guests use and is a short distance from the cottage. Property Owner

  • "A pretty cottage very close to everything Beaumaris has to offer."

The owners have given thought and consideration to the look and feel of the cottage and added so man little touches, such as having a bottle of wine; a shopping bag; soap, washing up liquid and other items present, that many rented properties do not supply. The kitchen was really well supplied with everything required if cooking whilst there. Well done to the owners.

  • "What a gem of a cottage."

An Absolutely beautifully presented cosy cottage. We stayed in Beaumaris recently to visit family in the area. We booked Blue Cottage as it was perfectly located. It had everything we needed for our 3 night stay and would highly recommend. They kindly provided a cot and high chair at no extra cost. I would suggest maybe considering the option of a removable stair gate for families with smaller children as the stairs are quite steep, however this did not affect our stay in any way. Thank you for the lovely welcome gift- an extra added nice touch. We will hopefully be back soon. Thank you.

  • "This cottage is in a good location on a quiet side street in the centre of Beaumaris."

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very good. However we did not find the rest of the cottage very comfy. The sofa was very hard and uncomfortable as were the 2 bucket chairs… the scatter cushions were old dirty and flat. It just wasn’t the place we wanted to come back to after a day out. The cottage is also very dark even on the sunniest of days and had a very bad smell of damp / fustiness. The cottage needs painting and updating. The kitchen is very tight with the table up.. and the kitchen didn’t have a salad bowl or Pizza cutter and mismatched wine glasses. We did expect so much more for the very high price we paid. People have commented almost a year ago about the sofa etc but still nothing seems to have been replaced. We would not stay here again.

Many thanks for your feedback and I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. We have been doing a refurbishment on the windows earlier in the year and hoping to complete the works and an internal upgrade at the end of the busy season. The soft furnishing were to be the last things to be changed so they didn't get damaged but acknowledging the sofa has become harder due to it being a sofa bed, a new sofa and chairs were ordered two months ago and we have been waiting for them to be delivered which will be this week. We have had the cottage for 15 years and as you can see we have always had good reviews, and due to a bereavement earlier in the year the refurbishment hasn't gone as quickly as we had wished. We take all the feedback very seriously and take on board the comments made Property Owner

  • "This cottage is in a great location but is in need of some attention."

The beds were comfortable but the bedding and towels were cheap and poor quality. The furniture is basic IKEA and much of it needs replacing. We understand that a new sofa is on order, the cushions on the current one are so compacted that it was hard to sit on and the tub chairs were uncomfortable. Unfortunately there’s no dishwasher and we found dirty pans and dirty lumpy sugar. The cottage smelled damp and we spent as much time out of it as possible. It is clear that the cottage is undergoing some renovation but this should be reflected in the price. If you pay over £800, you expect better quality furnishings and comfort for that price. This cottage has so much going for it but it should be listed as basic accommodation with a lower rating and a price to match.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin.
