  • "Bryn uchaf is a lovely cottage."

..very clean on arrival, bedrooms are nice airy and comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped (only thing for us would be a brush and pan) Garden is lovely although we had not so nice weather my 2 grandsons enjoyed playing with their ball. Maisie our cockerpoo who is only 11 months also enjoyed garden but did manage to escape through the hedge....!!! All in all a very nice place and location would recommend a stay there...

Thankyou so much for your feedback and we are very happy that your stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We hope to welcome you for another stay in the future. Property Owner

Thank you for the welcome pack. The weather wasn’t that kind to us but the cottage always felt cosy. The recycling/rubbish was a bit of a problem as the bins were full and there weren’t enough clear bags left in the utility room. The only other issue would be mind out if you’re tall coming down the stairs! I would recommend this cottage and we loved the views over the sea.

Thankyou for your feedback and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We will address the recycling as soon as possible- we have moved to a new process so will make amendments to improve. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future Property Owner

  • "Very disappointing stay."

Such a same fantastic location, let down by poor owner and maintenance team. Arrived at the property after a six hour drive to a horrendous smell in the kitchen(Door you enter the cottage) after further investigation smell from the dishwasher. Absolutely disgusting, it was physically growing inside from the filter area. We then walked around the cottage. It was filthy, cob webs everywhere ,floors dirty, bathrooms filthy(orange body flat on the walls in the shower, chewing gum stuck to the floor in the bathroom. We contacted the number on the paper work and got told to contact Sykes, later found out they were the people that do the cleaning. Took a day for the owner to offer to send same cleaners round. We had to clean the house re wash all the cutlery crockery cooking utensils etc as filthy. Cups hanging on the cup rack with dirt in them. Property was advertised as safe for you dog, after 20 mins in the garden next doors dog arrived in the garden as holes in the fence, the back is not secure access straight out to the woodland. The utility needs the boiler looking at as the fumes are unbearable when you try to get things out of the freezer or use washing machine.. After speaking to the owner they offered us a good will payment of £41 against our 5 night stay, for the inconvenience of having to clean our holiday let ourselves. We were insulted and declined her offer. If we could have found somewhere else at such short notice we would have left the property. On returning home we contacted our card provider to see how we stood legally, it came to light as you have booked through Sykes you don’t have any rights, so please be aware when using Sykes if they provide you with a cottage that’s not fit for your stay you have no come back.

We always welcome feedback from our guests but it is unfortunate when money becomes such a motivator it makes facts inaccurate and no resolution during the holiday stay possible. I always get back to guests within as quick a timeframe as necessary and spoke with you on the same evening. I asked if you’d like me to get cleaners, or whether you had contacted Sykes to move to another cottage however I got threatened with money being the only resolution or i’d get a bad review. There are no other reported occasions of smells and you actively looked into filters etc to find issues. This is a self catering cottage and we do rely on our guests to leave it as they’d like to find it so any marks on crockery, I apologise. The cottage has a changeover every booking and regular deep cleans. There was potentially sealant you found in the bathroom but unlikely ‘chewing gum’ and I don't even understand the comment about body flat. The garden is enclosed at the back with a stone wall and is not open to woodland. The boiler has been serviced this year as every year- I suspect you’re not used to the smell of an oil fired boiler which is common across the island. I hope you find a cottage that suits your needs in the future Property Owner

  • "Whilst the cottage had lovely views and great location, there were a few things that let it down."

The kitchen needs a good clean including the oven, half of the plates were chipped, our duvet cover had a rip in it and it said the garden was dog proof. Our dog did escape over the back into the woodland. Also I would recommend a blind in the kitchen, bathroom and hall. Could be a four star, but needs a bit of TLC. We were lucky with weather though and had a good stay.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed the wonderful views and location of the cottage. The garden is enclosed but we would always advise guests to assess the needs of their dogs. The cottage is deep cleaned at regular intervals aswell as the changeover clean however we are sorry that this time you found it wasn’t up to our usual high standards. We do appreciate wear and tear happens to the crockery and we do replace regularly. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed in Bryn Uchaf 3 times now."

It is a well located cottage in a quiet area with lovely views over the bay. An issue with the back door failing to lock on our first day was dealt with to our satisfaction by the owners, attended early the following morning to sort out the problem with the help of a locksmith. However, initial dealings with the management company were less helpful and left us quite stressed and upset (it was clear they were well aware of the faulty lock but hadn’t dealt with it or let us know not to use the door. We were later informed by text message that they couldn’t find anyone to fix the lock (unsurprising as it was Good Friday), after which the manager simply stopped answering our calls). One star dropped as the cottage was poorly equipped compared to other cottages we have stayed in - only one toilet roll provided, no washing up liquid, an empty hand-wash bottle in the bathroom that should have been refilled or replaced, no spare bin liners provided (despite specific heavy duty bags being needed as the bins are emptied by hand by a private company due to the cottage’s location) and nowhere to leave rubbish as the bin was overflowing from previous residents. However, we did appreciate the Prosecco and Welsh cakes. We would stay again and would recommend the property to others, but being mindful of the need to bring all supplies with you or being prepared to pop to the shops on the first night.

Loved the property and all its extensive facilities. The location is high up on the hillside about a half mile from the shops and a fantastic restaurant call Pebbles; it’s about another half mile down to the truly glorious Benllech beach. We must add that the local butcher is one of the best too. As for Anglesey, if you like fresh air, fantastic walks, amazing beaches with lovely wildlife and the possibility of seeing a red squirrel, you must give it ago.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Bryn Uchaf and the location. We too love the local restaurants and yes the butchers is amazing - we are very lucky to have them within easy reach. The main windows downstairs at the front have great views but when it is very sunny we had to draw the curtains where as blinds would have allow us to block direct sunshine but still seeing the views. Bathroom could do with a towel rail or two for towels after a shower. Our miniature dachshund managed to find ways out of the enclosed garden which was one of the main reasons for choosing it. It was lovely to look out at the sea and be able to walk down to the beach, although quite a steep walk back. Very quiet and peaceful, all we heard was birds singing and ducks quacking. Benllech beach is great and you can walk right round the bay at low tide. There is a small section where dogs are not allowed but plenty of space apart from that. Plenty of pubs/cafes and a Co-op and tesco express in the village and a good chip shop. The house was clean and well equipped with a good shower, bath and hairdryer. The outbuilding had washing machine and tumble dryer, freezer and there was also a washing line. The garden was secure enough to keep our dogs in. Only slight issue was that the kitchen had no door so a stairgate would have been useful to keep the dogs in, although after running around the beach they headed straight for their bed when we got in. We had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that we really didn’t want to leave.
