  • "All in all Clydfan is a nice enough holiday cottage in a good location for Caernarfon town centre."

On arrival there was a welcome bottle of wine and we were delighted to see plenty of teabags, sugar and coffee provided, they also provide washing up liquid, cleaning products and even laundry tablets. However, there were also a few expected basics missing - no further bin bags to the one in the rather small bin so we had to buy a roll, no tea towels (only disposable cleaning clothes) and no bath mat. It was useful to have a separate washer and dryer. Also, there are great amount of convenient sockets (some w USB sockets) around the cottage - something that can be an issue in older buildings. However - some of the facilities are rather basic. There is only a tiny counter top oven and the fridge is very small, though it did have a little freezer. In the sitting room a smaller but more comfy sofa would be better, and some table or floor lamps, as the main light is very harsh. The dining table only had very small stools which were not comfortable and a couple very rickety. Though the bathroom is large there is nowhere to put a sponge bag down, and no hooks or rails on which to hang the towels (a basic table by the shower and some wall hooks would do it). There is a large storage cupboard in the bathroom, but it is full of cleaning stuff for the cottage, when it might’ve been useful for storage for guests. Similar issue in the bedroom, there is a hanging rail and two tiny bedside tables, but with a bit of thought something like a chest of drawers, or even some shelves, to put folded clothes in, could fit and would’ve been very useful. the bed itself is a rather small double, and not hugely comfortable.

  • "Location is really nice, literally 3 minutes to walk onto the top of Twthill where we can have a nice view of the whole town, sea, castle, etc."

Very close to the seaside and castle, ~11 minutes' walk. The property is cosy and nice. Lots of cooking / cleaning facilities and consumables are provided, which reflect the owners' kind considreations. The door is a bit tricky to lock, you will have to : (1) close it, (2) turn the handle up to the end, (3) turn the keys. We got into trouble at the begining but the helpline of SKYES kindly resolved that for us (by contacting the owner), which was quite quick. The bed is a bit small, probably only 1.3 metre in length, maybe one of the bedside tables could be removed. Got one nice neighbor who kindly reminded us when we arrived and were walking uphill that if we are looking for Clydfan, we have just passed it. Also got a not very nice neighbor who seemed to have fully filled a bin which has this cottage's name on it, so that when we arrived, we did not have space for rubbish. Overall, we are satisfied for our stay, this place is ideal for tourists to feel the beauty of this little town!

  • "This little piece of heaven is a credit to the owners and to it's neighbours."

Ideally located for a short walk into the town and with a fantastic view of the Castle from the front door. Property was immaculate, warm and 'homely' - wish we could have stayed for longer. It was a great New Year spent at the Cottage and we will definitely be booking again for another stay. Thank you so much once again. Rick & Orlagh

  • "This is our second stay at this property and overall we were satisfied, but a few niggles."

Think this is the first time at a property with no welcome items not even a pint of milk .. after over 6 hours in the car on the hottest day my husband had to walk to the town as the local shop closes mid afternoon to get milk, we’ve had lots of treats at all the other cottages we’ve stayed at but surely a pint of milk wouldn’t hurt ! Woken on our first morning at 7am by loud machinery and knocking on the door asking us to move our car as large amount of building work next door which loudly went on a lot of the Saturday . I do think a bit of liaison with the neighbours by the owners could have warned us I notice it states 4 people can stay here but while 4 could sleep there’s no way 4 could relax of an evening as only one sofa and no other chairs in living room at all , even squashed like sardines 4 couldn’t sit on the sofa . For 2 people it’s fine Large door curtain constantly hanging off and very annoying Location to town is very good and overall clean and usable. We will probably return

  • "I write this with upset, however I have returned home feeling absolutely ripped off."

The first thing we noticed was how dirty all the floors were on our arrival, wiping dirt off the bottom of our feet. Hair everywhere including the shower. Rust in shower. Paint coming off a lot of the walls. Cooking oil on the shelves in the cupboard above the info booklets. Fridge smelt strongly of food on arrival, a pasta ready meal box had clearly frozen to the back from the previous customers. Nothing had been cleaned. Water trapped under bathroom cup which smelt foul. No hairdryer as advertised, the mini cooker is unusable as the inside is covered in rust (photo available) and smells strongly of burnt chemicals. We washed our clothes, having been away for a week already on the first night and woke up to slug trails all over our clean clothes (photo available) that were in the kitchen area. We didn't feel comfortable cooking in the house, or using any of the kitchen equipment because of the slugs and rust in the cooker. We woke up to a slug on the bedroom floor one morning (photo available) After one wash, the washing machine never worked properly again, we had to ring everything out and then the dryer stopped working and cutting out after 1.5minutes (video available). There is no clothes dryer to hang any clothes so our clothes have been wrecked due to constantly being damp. The outside bin was not collected the entire 8 night stay, and passers by using the bin so we ended up with nowhere to put rubbish. On check out day, a man arrived to the house 2 hours before check out time trying to get in, talking loudly on the phone outside and looking in the bedroom window at me and my partner in bed. Then he lurked outside the house for the next 2 hours watching us move our stuff out. We received no welcome gift as other reviewers have stated. I am seriously upset I have paid £685 for this. If I had any money left, we'd have left and gone elsewhere. The location was great, but the house was lacking in any sort of practicality and comfort.

Twthill is just across the road and was perfect to let the dog run off the lead. The steep and narrow stairs were not a problem for us but could be an issue for some. Ideal for two people. We would stay here again.

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Clydfan exploring North Wales - Caernarfon was a great base for getting around."

We liked the apartment and thought the location was pretty good, however the drains had quite an unpleasant smell while we were there (unsure if it was due to construction/building work) and we wish the bed had been a bit bigger and comfier!

  • "I stayed here at the same time the previous year and reported the fact there was no information folder on how the appliances work or any sort of facts to advise for emergency contacts etc so was disappointed to see it hadn’t been sorted out."

Only the bbc channels worked as live on the tv which I found bizarre, no itv, channel 4 or 5. As reported by a previous guest there is a problem with slugs, every morning on getting up there was a couple on the kitchen floor leaving their shiny trail on everything they came into contact with so had to keep rucksacks, shoes etc upstairs. Other than that it was pretty good and hope the above issues will be resolved before I make a decision on returning.

parking was good as stated no problems perfect property for younger couples who just want to use as a base. very clean and well equipped. Sofa/pull out bed not comfortable to sit on for long periods (no arm chairs ect just sofa bed). No manuals on how to use anything or emergency contacts if needed doctors/vets ect never been to holiday cottage that didn't have one before. Struggled with hob gave up in the end. Not sure if owners are aware but there is problem with slugs in property. in kitchen floor area collected around 3-6 each morning and had to ensure floor was clear each night as first night slug slime all over shoes and bags ect Glad we didn't take dog.

There were dust bunnies under the bed but apart from that the flat was nice and clean and the bottle of wine was very much appreciated. The only small problem was we couldn't find the wifi password and there was no information about how to work anything, heating, washing machine etc. A book with some local information would be a great help.

I do think it might be a squeeze to have 4 adults to stay here but 2 adults and 2 kids wouldn’t be a problem. It was really cosy but the sofa was super uncomfortable and am so glad we didn’t have to make use of it as a sofa bed as previous reviewers found it an uncomfortable experience and we could definitely see why. Even for a short weekend break ( where we were out most of the time) it really gave us aches and pains . Such a shame as everything else was fine for a short break.

  • "We were staying at Clydfan for a week and wished we could stay longer."

Caernarfon is a great place to visit and you can visit many parts of Snowdonia by bus from here. The property itself is very cosy, and very well equipped. It has a double bed in the sleeping room and a sofa that can be converted into a -not the most comfortable- double bed if needed. The property has fast internet and a smart TV where you can log in your Netflix for rainy days. There is a microwave for the lazy days or a modern hob when you want to prepare a nice dish. There is also a small oven good enough for a normal size pizza :) There is also a wash machine and a dryer which was a massive help for us. The bathroom is nice and spacious and has a nice big shower. The whole place feels very modern, it's a perfect place to stay and minutes walk away from big shops, the city centre and the bus station as well. And the bonus? Just next to Clydfan there is a small hill looking over Caernarfon and Anglesey, perfect place to enjoy a beautiful sunset. I'd recommend this place for families as the sofa-bed is more children sized than for adults, but overall the place is a perfect base for your Caernarfon and Snowdonia adventures. Highly recommended.

  • "This is a great pied a terre for a couple needing a base to explore the area."

It had all the basics and a comfortable bed, however the sitting/kitchen area is very small but functional. Not at a comfort level for chilli g out after a day of exploring. One huge advantage is that the property is dog-friendly and within walking distance of the town centre, Castle and quayside. A walk up to Ben Twt is also just over the road, where you can take in some great views. A few small things that may spoil the enjoyment of others, but we're not issues for us as we were out and about most of the time: 1. We could not find the WiFi password, however our mobile connection was quite good in the area. 2. Take care not tonsil the kettle if someone is in the shower, it seems to have tripped the fuse. The fuse box was easy to locate and reset. 3. We could not get any hot water in the kitchen are. Easy enough to boil a kettle, but if you were doing more cooking it may be a bit inconvenient. 4. Note this property has no outside space. Overall, very well presented and convenient for the town centre. An unusual and hidden away area of town. The bottle of wine and bag of dog chews was much appreciated on arrival. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
