"Lovely house in a quiet area but near the village and beach ."
We loved it!
-
"The bungalow was perfect."
Our only problem was the outside space at the back. The grass was quite long and having a small dog and two 5year olds who wanted to be in the garden it wasn’t ideal. All it needed was cutting.

"We enjoyed our week in Cemaes Bay."
The house was clean and comfortable but could be improved. A welcome pack would have been nice on arrival as would be the supply of towels. The shortfalls were the following, only one hour of hot water was provided morning and evening (but easily overridden on the boiler). The tumble drier was labelled "for change over staff only but we needed to use it when our clothes got saturated in the rain. The door on the drier doesn't close and the drier perhaps needs replacing. The extractor filter from the cooker was dripping dirty black oil and needs replacing. The oven was giving off thick acrid fumes on heating. Lack of casseroles/serving dishes for self catering. The bottom sheets in downstairs bedroom was old rough and tired. The curtains in the bedrooms did not keep out much light so it was difficult to sleep. We found the showers temperamental. The key safe was incredibly hard to use, The is no garage. We paid nearly £1000 and expected better for a property in this price range. There is a feeling of penny pinching - we would not use again.
Good afternoon Stuart, many thanks for your feedback and I have noted accordingly. However, the welcome pack has been initiated previously and after feedback and dietary comments I decided to leave it as domestic necessities only. Towels are not offered as per the details on our property. The time scale required to wash and dry between changeovers precluded our ability to achieve this in the window between lets. Previous guests have preferred to use their own towels. The instructions for hot water and central heating are clear, set the water to once and the heating to timed and regulate through the thermostat. The one hour suggestion is clearly a mis-understanding. The tumble drier again, is not offered in the advertisement. I do not object to it being used. Replacement of this is a personal decision. The oven and extractor fan are checked on each changeover and I am sure you noted the oven has tin foil on the elements as well as additional tin foil supplied. I accept the casserole comments, a recent guest informed me they damaged some. Replacements are on their way. All bedding is replaced after each season. The curtains again have never been an issue with light, I will look into this going forward. The showers are excellent and the upstairs shower is less than 2 years old. This is the first adverse comment about the key safe which is Police approved. There is a rear garage with ample space to store items e.g. bicycles. A considerable amount of time, thought and investment has been devoted to this property. Thank you for your comments of which we always act on. Property Owner

"Lovely house in a fabulous spot."
Very comfortable and well equipped. Would definitely recommend and visit again

"This is a large well equipped house."
Yes it needs the odd jobs doing. But everything works and it is comfortable, we didn’t find any instructions for the cooker, dish washer or washer but it wasn’t hard to figure out. There is a tumble dryer but it is only used when they do change over, an adequate clothes line and pegs are provided. The showers up and downstairs are good, the taps on the bath need sorting out especially the cold. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay. If you want to eat in the village pre booking is recommended, there is a hut on the beach that makes fresh pizza and chips, and they are really good and also a chippy on the Main Street. The shop in the village is great for all your basics, really friendly, helpful staff. There are 2 beaches both great for rock pooling or just relaxing, great coastal walk and a little river walk( sign post for this is on the Main Street) this brings you out at the beach. Beaumaris is worth a visit, you can spend hours on the pier crabbing, there are boat trips which you can book on line, good shops, plenty of places to eat and of course the castle. Holyhead is good for shopping with its retail park. We had a great busy week. Would I stay here again, yes I would.

"Front door lock was a struggle locking and unlocking."
Key box was a problem for someone with bad knees being so low to ground. A lovely house let down slightly by minor issues such as 2 slice toaster for 6 adults. Fab showers upstairs and downstairs

"Very comfortable accommodation and very convenient place only down side was the hot water it was very temperamental."
-
"A beautiful house clean and comfortable and in a brilliant location , however, sadly, it was lacking in certain areas."
Shame there was no welcome pk, a box of tea/coffee, pint of milk and a nice pkt of biscuits is all that is really required to welcome guests who have probably travelled several hours. More importantly, the key code box is not by the garage, the house has no garage it is by the French doors, we only discovered this because the next door neighbour came out and told us. The box is placed very low down and to get the key you have to literally get down on your hands and knees. The seal around the kitchen sink needs re doing ASAP, it looks and probably is a health hazard. T.V aerial connection had disintegrated (owner notified) 3 t.v handsets, not only confusing but the batteries in all of them seemed to be flat No brochures of local attractions, places to go etc and the information pk could do with an update. Hooks missing from bathroom door No blind at the bathroom window!!!! No kitchen scissors and only one sharp knife, which was blunt. It might sound as though we have gone through the house with a pencil and notebook, this is not the case, we have noted these things as they have impacted our stay It is a shame that an otherwise lovely house has been let down by things which are basic and what a guest should reasonably expect
-
"The house is perfectly situated 15 minutes walk from the beach and the centre of Cemaes Bay, in a quiet residential area."
It contains everything needed for a comfortable stay with a garden perfect for chilling at the end of the day. We had 3 cars that we managed to park leaving access for the neighbour on the drive. A lovely house in a great location. We would definitely stay again.

"Location Great."
Quiet. No welcome Pack, No information Pack, Seal around kitchen sink/Shower Seal needs attention.Fridge door Tray taped up, Downstairs Curtains miss matched, Bedroom Curtains Broken/Ripped. Downstairs Bedding Stained, All Bedding Quality Thin/Cheap. Dinningroom Table/ Chairs Chiped/Chair Broken seat. Bathroom sink Broken Plug. BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS= Need Main Curtains only got Blinds,Woken up at 5.am. NOT ABLE TO SLEEP AFTER. The COAT Hanger by Front Door very loose. For a New Property it Needs a lot of TLC INSIDE, VERY TIRED. Patio Furniture needs to be Displayed on the Lawn with Umberlla? WEATHER STATED HOT WEEK. 9.30am leave / 4am Arrival. In 6 hour's they could Correct some of these issues. NOT SURE IF WE WOULD RETURN???

"Cottage lovely and quiet."
we really enjoyed our stay. Owner let us have it with 2 hours notice as one booked hadnt been cleaned. He even cancelled he own trip so we could use it. Would go back xx
-
"Couldn’t put the bins out for collection as the bolt on the back gate had rusted badly and we couldn’t budge it."
This must be an ongoing problem as rubbish was left in the bins previously and it was rather full. Shower control upstairs need attention. Comfortable stay, safe for the dog and in easy reach of the beach, we enjoyed our time there.
-
"Bit ofT L C would be good bathroom sink plugs need attention beds and linen very good."
House is lovely Information on local footpaths and shops would be useful
-
"We were delighted with the property it suited our family of 4 adults and 4 children perfectly."
We felt that the photos didn’t do the property justice it was far nicer than it appeared. Really easy walking distance to the beach even with small children. Very interesting places to visit nearby. It would have been really useful to have a few basics left in the property so that we didn’t have to buy then on arrival. Such as salt and pepper, washing up liquid washing powder ice or ice cube trays. It would also be very good to have some bbq utensils.
-
"Good location for the village and the beach and harbour just a ten minute walk."
We have rented the house before but feel it is now in need of an update. The mattresses and bed linen need replacing and more crockery is required for a family of eight. The dining chair seats are badly stained and look unsightly. Some decent outdoor furniture is required two plastic chairs were cracked so not enough seats outside for our family. So basically a general update would make a big difference which surely should be undertaken each season to encourage previous renters to return.

"The owner has known that one of the toilets doesn’t flush and remove waste for at least 8 months ."
We specifically required two bathrooms and paid more for the facility. It transpired that we had a child who ‘potty training’ and anyone going through that means that trips t the toilet are urgent, The downstairs toilet has an extractor fan ,but it didn’t work. There is no window in this bathroom and the shiny tiles get slippy from condensation. Both these jobs are quick and relatively cheap to remedy, I’ve done both in my own house a number of times. The visitor books evidenced these same issues and cleaners actually have apologised saying the owner is aware. I went through Sykes and I kept getting messages that the owner was not answering the phone or emails. A small amount of maintenance would save money in the long term, as well as bringing the standard of the property to where it should be. For example mortar on the roof edges would mean birds wouldn’t be nesting in the roof at the front, and the rear garage. As well as stopping water getting on the roof timbers. Curtains that fit bedroom windows fully. A blind in the upstairs bathroom would mean the neighbours wouldn’t see you in the shower, The good points, a good location in a nice village. The surrounding streets are very quiet , we live in the country and found it as quiet as home. Friendly neighbours and good amenities close at hand, including places to eat, walking , cycling and attractions.

"Fantastic place, just needs some TLC, especially to the first floor WC, pretty much unusable, this is an ongoing complaint looking in the reviews book at the property."
Front Door key will soon not work as it’s a struggle to open and lock at times. None of the issues we found would stop us from returning, but these definitely need to be sorted first. Great location, great garden for pets as fully secure. Many thanks we had a good stay.
-
"We had a lovely time at the property."
The property it's self was clean and tidy and had all the amenities needed, except due to the storm we didn't have WiFi for half a week which was a shame as we had chosen this property over another due to it having WiFi. The position of the property was great as it was a short walk to beach, harbour and coastal walks.
-
"Lovely house."
Really clean.lots of plates,cutlery,pans etc.in a lovely spot.was nice having two bathrooms
-
"We had a wonderful stay at the property."
As it had been explained there were a few cosmetic issues Which wouldn't take long to rectify to bring the property up to 5 star rating but it didn't effect our stay in any way. Would happily return.
-
"We were disappointed with the property."
It is a spacious house conveniently located near the village and harbour. However, there were a number of maintenance issues, some of which had been raised in previous feedback, that had not been rectified.
-
"The house is spacious, well-equipped, very clean and mostly comfortable."
A few bit of maintenance would have made it a very comfortable stay. The upstairs bathroom needs a few bits of attention, but the water pressure is amazing so the shower is really invigorating. So not all bad! The beds are creaky, and the mattresses and bedding are not great quality. So perhaps not the best night's but still a decent holiday house. If you're a light sleeper then take an eye mask as the curtains are thin and streetlights and sunlight shines through.
-
"The house is well equipped and in a great location We enjoyed our stay very much."
-
"Could have had a booklet explaining where things were and how they worked which we have always had in other houses."
-
"A very quiet location, great for a family break away."
Comfortable 15 minute walk to the middle of the village. The village is equipped with a couple of pubs, I think Covid has affected opening hours of 1 of them, but the Harbour Hotel and the Stag were both open with usual opening times and very pleasant to sit inside or outside - both welcomed dogs. A couple of things to be aware of - parking is a bit tight as we had 3 cars, but parking on the pavement worked fine and as the pavement only lead to this house we did not block any access for anybody, the neighbour greeted us as we were unloading the car very keen to establish parking boundaries. Also, there are 2 bathrooms and 2 showers, however we could only use 1 shower at a time as the water stopped in the upstairs shower when the downstairs was used.
-
"After seeing some of the reviews which were not good reading we arrived at 5 Cae Derwydd with some trepidation."
However, we found the house to be extremely clean. The kitchen was well equipped and certainly clean. The living room was very comfy with large sofas, large TV with Freesat and excellent WiFi. Bedrooms had comfortable beds and bathrooms and shower cubicle were very good. A nice enclosed garden for our jack russell terrier with garden furniture and BBQ (which we didn't use). House was only 5 mins walk to centre of Cemaes Bay where you will find 3 pubs, a very good butcher, small grocery shop, excellent fish and chip shop and of course the beach. Would we use the house again..... mostly definitely.
-
"We have stayed at this house before and found it to be clean and well equipped."
Unfortunately this time the house had not been checked for sometime as there was a pile of post behind the door and lots of dead woodlice. I wouldn't describe it as dirty but dusty. There are door handles loose and light bulbs missing, it is lacking a little bit of TLC.
-
"The house was well presented, spacious and clean."
We were very comfortable and found the house to be well equipped and positioned for us to explore Cemaes and surrounding areas. We would definitely consider booking again, once all the Covid restrictions have been lifted.
-
"Have stayed here before."
Love the house, love the village. Great base for the island.
-
"Complained to Sykes over the phone about the inaccuracy of the listing, especially the lack of cleanliness of the property and after the shower falling apart in my daughter's hand."
I sent two emails whilst away, including photos and have yet to hear anything back from Sykes despite their 72 hour response, that's a joke. Will not be using Sykes again and cannot recommend them.
-
"The house is spacious and in a good location, close to the town and beach."
However, it is clear that the house needs some attention as there were quite a few faults that should be fixed i.e.door handles falling off, issue with the downstairs bath that had been fixed with tape, kitchen cupboards which did not close. The matresses are not comfortable and very noisy with springs sticking through. Hardly any glasses to use, so we bought plastic cups locally. It is a shame as with some attention and TLC this could be a great holiday home, without this we would not stay here again.
-
"This looked like a lovely modern place but sadly even though there have been plenty of feedback regarding the faults in this accommodation the owner has not tried to rectify them ."
The bed mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and gave us bad backs .The bedding is well used and old .The carpets upstairs were well warn and smelt of stale dog .The information pack is out of date .The neighbour is extremely helpful and managed to sort out a bathroom light for us .

"· The house is on a quiet cul-de-sac within easy walking distance (for able-bodied people) of the lovely village, beach and harbour."
There is a lot of space in the house and garden, the rooms are a good size, two bathrooms is a plus with loads of (very) hot water and overall the property was very clean and well equipped. TV and wi-fi worked well when we figured them out and we even got the dishwasher to work when we realised the plug socket was at fault and used an extension lead to another socket. · The beds and duvets weren't the best - the mattresses and pillows are well past their use-by date. The curtains are much too thin for a well lit area - we had to rig up blackouts using the two black fleeces provided. Not having cot bedding and towels provided is a pain (though there is now an almost new cot sheet as we forgot to bring it home!).
-
"Bedrooms need blackout blinds, the outside looks a bit neglected, nothing like the photo."
However all that the property needs is a little TLC because it’s spacious and well situated for the village and the coastal path, which was perfect for us.
-
"Some areas could do with a little update and repairs."
Overall enjoyed our stay in the holiday cottage especially our grandchildren.
-
"Insufficient insulation in the roof of the dormer style house, meant that the bedrooms upstairs remained extremely cold."
The bedding in the bedrooms could not be aired, to allow a comfortable rest even though the heating was on for several hours. We would like to point out that in our own home we don't heat the bedrooms, but in this property the small bedroom radiators were fully open all the time with little or no effect! On our arrival the property was freezing, and all the bedding was creased and crumpled as if not been laundered. We managed to operate the FREESAT box not SKY as in the listings, also there is NO DVD player as in the listings! During the winter months it very inconvenient to have to go outside to the garage to access the central heating and water controls (that are on the boiler).
-
"Before our departure the owner text to say that a new television had been installed, and we understood that all would be in order apart from Sky TV programmes."
On arrival we found the new tv would not work. A telephone call to the owner in Manchester, did not resolve the situation for our 3 night break. This was very inconvenient as the weather turned out to be very wet and a tv would have been good. Apart from this, we found the house to be spacious and could easily accommodate three couples. It is conveniently located, a short easy walk into the centre of the village.
-
"Excellent Location, roomy and plenty of Space, A little tired but only to be expected with a rental property."
One point the front door lock / handle is very temperamental and looks and feels like it is about to break any minute may need attention before someone get's locked out. Otherwise a very pleasant stay and would definitely return to a lovely area.
-
"We had a lovely time the place was well situated for all amenities."
But the property had some small issues. Broken door handles or missing. The double bed in the family room needs a mattress up date I ended up sleeping on an air bed as so uncomfortably.
-
"It was a lovely place to use as a base to visit Anglesey."
The harbour is beautiful!
-
"Nice minimalistic decor but lack of basic amenities eg bathroom pedal bin and waste paper bins."
Information folder needs updating.
-
"The upstairs shower leaks down into the hall light fitting."
When i contacted the landlord he said to point the shower away from the shower doors. We did this but it made not difference. We had to keep the kitchen bowl on the hall floor.
-
