  • "We loved staying here."

The house is big and so comfortable and has everything you need. The garden is lovely and was perfect for us and the dog. The house is a few minutes walk from the centre and the beaches and is in a peaceful road. The owner lives next door and was lovely and helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

The cottage had a well equipped kitchen and utility room, the comfortable warm bedrooms all had clean crisp linen and the modern bathrooms were spotlessly clean . Every facility was catered for, for guests and our three dogs, who loved the enclosed garden. Beautiful spot close to village and beach ,would certainly visit again.

  • "This is a lovely cottage managing to be both cosy and comfortable but with plenty of living space at the same time."

It is in a great location with a short ginnel nearby taking you to the main car park in the town and a few minutes' further walk to the harbour, beach or coastal path. We were made most welcome from the moment we booked (a late booking) and greeted personally and given a tour and instructions for all we needed to know when we arrived. Home made brownies too! The owners really want you to enjoy your stay. The cottage is well equipped and had everything we needed for preparing meals. We also had a nice meal at the Stag and a couple of nice lunches at the Bell, both dog friendly. Sadly the chippy in town was closed for a winter break but we had lovely fish and chips from Finneys in Porth Amlwch. The garden is great for dogs - and humans too if it hadn't been the coldest week of the year. It is a beautiful area with lovely local walks and everyone we met seemed so friendly. I can totally understand why so many people return to this property year on year and would have no hesitation in booking it again.

The owner Linda is a lovely lady who is proud of her former childhood home and rightly so. There was a lovely welcome from her, she took us round the cottage and had even left delicious home made brownies for us! The guest book speaks for itself as people have come back to Tyddyn Gyrfa on several occasions. The beds were super comfy too. The kitchen is well stocked and the lounge area cosy with comfortable seating. We really enjoyed our week and would recommend this super cottage to others. The garden is also a bonus especially as we had our little dog with us. The only point to note, not that it bothered us, are the steep stairs to the first floor which is pointed out in the property description. This lovely well cared for cottage is one our list to return to in the future!

There were so many thoughtful additional extras that added to our stay. The beds and associated items were very comfortable and of good quality. The hosts were helpful and have a generous approach to the property management. The location is great with many things to do and see without having to go far particularly if you enjoy walking.

  • "The property was clean and comfortable, and well located for the local area."

The owners were welcoming and helpful, and the brownies were a delicious surprise. We did find that the steep stairs, deep steps to the downstairs bathroom and the steep slope up to the lawn were an issue for those with mobility issues. There is also a lack of privacy at the property - the owners are directly next door with a low gate into the property’s garden and they have a window that looks directly into one of the bedrooms, the neighbours garden directly overlooks the property and they show interest in who is sunbathing, and the window cleaner just lets themselves in!

We are sorry you where not completely happy in our little Welsh cottage. I’m afraid we do not advertise it as suitable for guests with mobility problems due to the steps and the narrower and steeper stairs normal for an old cottage of this age, but have now added this fact to Sykes’ website so future guests will be more aware of this. Our house is next to the cottage and the back single bedroom does look on to our property but we endeavour to offer as much privacy as possible. Our garden gate is a standard single size and offered us access to our property and the garden for cleaning and other services and has never been an issue in the 10 years we have been holiday letting. As for the neighbour ( my brother), he has erected a 6 ft fence as he loves his garden but also needs his privacy from my guests. However he is always courteous and waves and says Hello if he sees our guests but is no way intrusive. As for tradesmen such as the window cleaner and gardener they come when they can according to their work load and we have no redress regarding that. We do however state this in our welcome pack. I do hope this addresses the issues you have mentioned regarding our cottage. Property Owner

I enquired about a coffee machine two days before we arrived and the owner said they had a stovetop and a cafetiere, which was good as we are a family of coffee drinkers, the next day she texted to say she had bought a filter coffee machine. I think the owners go out of their way to ensure that you have the best possible stay. Very dog friendly, the house was equipped with dog towels, poo bags and two water bowls and the garden is dog safe. The house is in a good area, within walking distance of a well equipped shop, 3 pubs, a chip shop and a lovely dog friendly beach. Lots of great walks close by so we hardly used the car. The cottage is lovely with log burners in both the dining and living rooms making this really cosy especially for a winter holiday. On arrival we were greeted by a warm fire, and a lovely welcome pack (the choc brownies were gorgeous!). Linda the owner (who lives next door) was a great host and came over when we arrived. This is the only cottage were I can honestly say that everything has been provided for guests including a starter pack for the fires (you can buy more wood from the shed in the garden - there is an honesty box in the kitchen), welcome pack, towels for dogs, loads of DVD's and books, umbrella's etc. There was even a walking stick which my Mum found helpful, as her knees do cause her problems with mobility. A lot of thought has clearly gone into what guests want and need whilst on a self catering holiday and I can't think of anything that has been missed. The kitchen is really well equipped, again with everything you need. The bedrooms are lovely, plenty of storage and mirrors. There are also wall heaters which kept the house warm and toasty throughout our stay. Plenty of parking, there is a drive but we parked on the roadside without any problems (its a dead end road). The secure garden is great for dogs, really good size and I imagine would be a suntrap in the summer months. The location is perfect, really quiet but only 2 mins walk to the village, the harbour and beaches. No hesitation in 100% recommending this property and we will definitely return next year.

The cottage is very well furnished and equipped and the welcome pack, including the homemade chocolate brownies, was very much appreciated. The garden is enclosed making it very safe for Ziggy our greyhound, (some of the boundaries have walls etc. less than 4 feet high so may not be as secure for jumpers). The owners, Linda and Peter, live next door and we’re very helpful and friendly, without being imposing. There are 2 pubs in the village that are dog friendly and many more all over the island. One beach and a separate half a beach in the village are dog friendly, although at high tide there is barely enough sand to make a castle. Lots of great walking, including dog walks, and many stately homes and castles are at least partly dog friendly. The cottage is highly recommended and I am sure we will return.

The cottage is located in a residential cul- de -sac which is used regularly by people walking down to the village and using the ginnel at the end, this was the only drawback for us as we are not used to sitting in our living room and having people walking past, also this resulted in having to close blinds in bedrooms for privacy, this is only our personnel feeling that may not be noticed by other people using this cottage, don't let it put you off, just being honest.Overall had a great week and would recommend this cottage for dog owners and families.
