  • "The bed wasn’t to our liking, it could do with a Mattress Topper as it was very hard."

They could also do with a few more Kitchen utensils, eg. Salad tongs or similar, knife sharpener. Apart from that, we had a wonderful stay, was very clean, and well maintained…and the views were incredible…we had fantastic weather which always helps.

The RAF training air show was an added bonus. 40 minutes walk into valley, we even power walked back in 30 minutes. Only criticism is the late check in of 5 pm why can’t we go back to pre Covid and check in be 3pm.

  • "We had a wonderful, relaxing week at Bwthyn Glanrhyd."

It's so off the beaten track, you barely see anyone other than a few nearby holiday guests and walkers doing the coastal route. Access to the sea (Cymryan Strait) was perfect for trying out the SUP and walks when the tide was out. It's great for dogs with the enclosed areas, but also the nearby fields, beach (when tide is out) and coastal paths for walking them! We also had 3 days of air displays from RAF Valley which were no bother at all - it was worth the brief noise! The property had all you need for a week away and was very comfortable. Would definitely look to book again!

  • "This property is situated in a nice part of Wales but we personally found that it is not equipped to suit a family of 4 comfortably."

The 2 bedrooms do not contain a wardrobe only drawers and limited wall hangers. The kitchen had insufficient utensil equipment, lacked in main storage space and the living area did not have traditional home comforts and needs updating. Getting to the property from the single track road is full of deep pot holes and desperately needs urgent maintenance. I had to reverse my vehicle all the way from the residential caravan site to the rental property as the owner of the property did not want me to use their grounds to turn my vehicle around so as I could park my vehicle safely nor was there adequate space at the caravan site to leave my vehicle and walk to the property. As a family, we did not feel welcome by the property owner, and on one particular day I was out walking with my grandson and was immediately approached by the host to tell me that we were not allowed to enter her property grounds as it is a private road. I respected this but at the same time found the host to be rude and arrogant. When I looked at Google maps it looks like a ring road which I did mention to her and as I was renting a property on a private road to start with, I was unaware of any further restrictions. Overall, the property had a nice outdoor patio area with lovely views towards Snowdonia range but I would not rent this property again.

Particular positives are the large panoramic windows, the enclosed garden for the dog, the patio seating area, a good shower, the log burner and close access to the local beach areas. The location in respect of exploring Anglesey is also great, being between the Holy Island and Anglesey mainland. We visited many pretty beaches the full length of the west coast and it was only just over half an hour’s drive to Beaumaris on the opposite side. We didn't want to leave!

Cody, clean and the most beautiful of locations to watch the sunrise and sunsets. The two things that are a challenge are storage facilities for clothes - no wardrobe space at all and the location of the tv - gives you a stiff neck it being in a weird location. It wouldn’t however stop us from renting the property again as these are nothing in comparison to what the cottage has.

Loved exploring the local beaches and local eateries were very good. We enjoyed the RAF entertainment and the lovely view across the bay. What I would say is that we needed to plan our day/ move a car at low tide. High tide covered the road every day- not from time to time. Wellies were a definite must as the access field was saturated due to the recent high rainfall. Sue Watson

We choose this spot as it is a good location for our very nervous dog. The cottage has most of what you need, I say most because a parasol would have been a Dogsend given the glorious weather we had as there is no shade in the garden. Compact & Bijou. The dog shower was an absolute godsend and greatly assisted our attempts to protect the property...but it needs more thought. To get our dirty Bog Dog clean we needed full pressure. If we used full pressure the silly universal shower attachment didn't join in much. Amazon and eBay are crawling with Full Fat Y piece solutions that solve this issue. Nice to have found provision there though. We were having nightmares about a complete lack thereof! More importantly the 'beach' was littered with glass. That needs immediate attention. What manner of animal boobytraps such a place eludes me. We binned some of it and left this bit out. These are solvable trivialities. If you want or need peace and quiet... A good safe enclosed garden for our dog. Fantastic views and cosy warm accommodation. Well equipped with most things but the bathroom really needs a proper toilet roll holder fixed to the wall…it’s hard to use the roll holder on the floor. It would be good to have a supply of tinfoil for the oven and grill. It would also be useful to have some cleaning materials in the kitchen and bathroom including toilet cleaner available for use. The owner has made the cottage welcoming and homely and it would be a pleasure to return.

What a gorgeous little place and the views of the Cymyran strait was spectacular ! The cottage was well equipped, we did buy a couple of pint glasses while we were there though and we left them there if anyone else needs them. Bed was lovely and comfy as was the sofas, the heating was hardly ever on as the big panoramic windows heated the place up during the day. Loved our stay and hope to go back there in the future. Fab places to eat, Sea Shanty in Treaddur Bay and Catch 22 in Valley. The fish and chips from Sergio's was probably the best I've had in a very long time.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful holiday home with us. Cottage was situated down a remote country lane, right on the estuary, with its own little beach, exceptionally quiet and peacefully. Perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. Amazing walks directly from the cottage, as it’s on the Anglesey Coastal Path. The cottage has the advantage of the lounge having panoramic floor to ceiling windows so you feel as though you are sat outside when in the lounge, we loved watching the tide roll in! The owners had provided everything we could have needed for a holiday stay, plenty of cutlery, cooking equipment etc, although we didn’t cook as we ate out, but I’m sure we wouldn’t have struggled if we’d decided to eat in. Beds were comfortable and shower was the best we’ve ever had in a rental property!!! We also enjoyed the fact the property had its own private garden, which was lovely for our puppy to enjoy. It benefited from garden table and chairs too, which was great in the evenings. RAF Valley is nearby and we really enjoyed watching the jets flying by - a real novelty and definitely a bonus! Anglesey is such a perfect place - we enjoyed Rib Ride boat trip down the Menai Straits, horse riding at Anglesey Riding Centre, swimming and walking at local beaches, karting and lots more! We can recommend The White Eagle, The Boat House, The Ship and Dylan’s to eat out at and for little extras needed there’s a large Tesco in Holyhead. Thank you for a perfect holiday .

A "Private" sign may be a good idea on the small gates as we had a walker traipse through the garden. We were also visited twice by a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) which really upset our dog. Of course we realise that the owners have no control over such events but wanted to point them out as the GSP owner may be local and perhaps someone could have a word with him. He didn't seem to see the problem because his dog was friendly. We were third time lucky with getting to the cottage, due to unforseen events the previous two years friends took our bookings. Everything about the cottage was amazing and we would love to go back at some point but the cost may prevent that. In two years the rental fee has gone up £300.00 for the week we booked. The location must be one of the best on the island. Apart from clothes drying facilities there is everything that you need. Unfortunately we found a lower standard of cleanliness than when we stayed in September. As mask wearing had only been lifted on 1/4/22 in Wales this was a surprise. The bin, shower head , window and around the pedestal in the bathroom were dusty and there were dried drips of water down the tiles around the sink. I had to clean it before we used it. The cushions have dried food on two of them . The table wobbles so that one person cutting food rocks the whole thing. The tap in the bathroom drips. The extractor fan in the bathroom doesn’t work. The place mats are wobbly. I’m highlighting these things because of the obvious change in six months.

  • "The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in a lovely remote place right by the sea, perfect for a relaxing get away."

We do recommend if you go in the winter months take a candle and torch, and buy fire wood before you go, we had a power cut 2 nights luckily we took our own torch and candle other wise we would of been sat in the dark, only one small basket of wood for your first night and the road isn’t the best and could quite easily damage your car so not a road you’d want to drive up and down on a regular basis. The road is cover by the sea but not just for 2 hours as I’d read, it was a lot longer which wasn’t a problem cause storm caira made us want to stay in ha ha and we just planned a relaxing weekend away. The owner was very helpful and easy to contact. The property could do with a really good dust, lamp shades, skirtings ect.. but other than that it was a lovely remote place, well set out, relaxing and very scenic a lovely place to get away from the stresses of life..

Many thanks for your feedback Ms Swales. All feedback is very useful to us to ensure our guests have the most comfortable and enjoyable stay possible. We are glad that you enjoyed your time at Bwthyn Glanrhyd. The property is located in a remote spot and we do ensure that all guests are informed about the access road and tides via Menai Holidays/Sykes. Due to storm Ciara the tides were unusually high and for a prolonged period of time during the extreme weather conditions. We will ensure a candle and a torch is made available within the property. We pride ourselves in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness so apologies if you felt this was not the case. Our housekeeper is reviewing this immediately. A few points to make it even better. 1. We found the front door difficult to open upon arrival. Information on how far to turn the bottom knob would have been very useful. 2. The bathroom door handle is very stiff and heavy. It has to be forced down in order to open the door. 3. There is a water leak at the base of the left hand shower fixing. This was spotted from the bath as quite a large, brown dripping stain which I though was rust at first. Wiped it clean but it continued to drip. 4. A coffee table between the twin sofas on which to place drinks, books, maps, binoculars etc. would be appreciated. 5. The heated towel rail in the bathroom was not working which made it very difficult to dry towels in damp/wet weather. Despite the above we had a very enjoyable week and there was always something of interest to watch through the huge windows, including over a dozen different species of birds.

Many thanks for your recent feedback which proves very useful to us. I am so glad that overall you had and enjoyable week. I have arranged for our maintenance person to look at the items you noted. The towel rail has been checked and is fully operating. They were taking off landing formation flying this is really loud and goes on every day from 8am until after 5pm or later. My little dog was terrified. If you like an air show and don't mind the noise this is for you. The garden is supposed to be enclosed but it's not this wasn't a problem with y dog as she didn't really want to go in the garden during the day because of the noise. There were four very large dogs that continually wandered in the garden sometimes all at once and if the door was open rampaged round the bungalow while we tried to get them out. If the garden had been enclosed this wouldn't have happened and we wouldn't have had to clean up after them. The private road to this property is shale and a dirt track. To get rid of your rubbish you and to walk past the caravans to put it in and enclosed skip but when you opened the shutter it was full of flies not a good experience in the warm weather we had. The path down to the beach is quite steep and over grown being pensioners we didn't attempt it but kids would love it. We wouldn't book this cottage again and we don't feel as if we've had a holiday we left on Thursday lunch time couldn't wait to get home. If we could move the bungalow elsewhere it would be perfect.

Thank you for your recent feedback. We find feedback very useful. Firstly we are sorry to hear you were not aware the property is located near the RAF valley and that planes can be heard during weekdays. We do include this information within the property details online to ensure there are no surprises. Apologies that you experienced dogs from elsewhere within the garden area. We have arranged for works to be carried out in September to ensure the garden is fully dog proof. We do appreciate Bwthyn Glanrhyd is a remote property and do our best to relay this in the property description online. We have recently strimmed the access down to the sea. We always ensure the skip is replaced before its full. We are sorry that the property didn't meet all areas of your expectation but thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "We struggled to twork the small shower head there were no instructions."

A non slip mat in the bath would have been good ( we are in our 70`s & have to take care0 We had to buy a knife to spread butter, the steak knives were very good but not for buttering bread. Having said all that we had a lovely holiday the cottage is very cosy & we loved the location, we would like to return next summer.

Thank you for your recent feedback. We find any feedback from guests really useful. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the property and its location. We have looked into the small shower head which we found to be in full working order. There is now a non slip mat available in the bath for guests and we've reviewed the cutlery available to guests. Thank you again and we look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to the property soon. Property Owner

Thank you so much for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the cottage. Apologies you had an issue with the log burner. I understand there was a change in wind direction during your stay which affected things. We have since had the matter rectified. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely and very modern but I felt that the cleanliness was not up to scratch."

The floors were dusty and didnt look as if they hadn’t been cleaned. Fridge hadn’t been cleaned as we found bits of food in it. This I know is being very picky but just feel that this should have been looked at before we came. Little attention to detail like, maybe a few games to play and provision of a DVD player if the weather is bad, as reception when it’s windy allows you to only watch BBC. I appreciate this is a new property and is still a project in motion so I think in a few months this will be top notch but I couldn’t give it top marks I’m afraid.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the cottage. Apologies you felt the cleanliness of the property was not up to standard. We have addressed this immediately. I've also put out some games to play in one of the cupboards. Thank you again for letting us know. Property Owner

The property

Bwthyn Glanrhyd is a lovely, bright holiday cottage on the stunning west coast of Anglesey.

Inside you’ll find the ideal balance of a contemporary and cosy finish - your stay here will be comfortable and relaxing whatever the time of year.

Bwthyn Glanrhyd is a fab holiday cottage close to the coast, making it ideal for a family holiday on Anglesey close to the beach. There is a brilliant open plan living space that encompases the kitchen, dining and sitting rooms.

This allows for a sociable space for a family or friends to enjoy. The sitting area has two comfy sofas and chair around a woodburner and Smart TV for your entertainment, providing you can tear yourself away from the view through the large doors across to the Cymyran Strait.

These doors open out onto a paved seating area where we recommend having your morning cuppa! The kitchen has everything you need to make cooking on holiday a breeze - a built in oven and microwave oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine.

The dining table seats up to four people. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and storage for your clothes.

There’s a further twin bedroom with a set of drawers.

The main bathroom has a bath and shower over, loo and hand basin and loo.

Outside is a garden laid to lawn with the paved seating area which you can access from the sitting area.

Towards the end of the garden there’s a gate that leads you through the owners paddock and down to the sea where you’ll find little coves of uncovered sand when the tide is in.

Being here is like having your own own secret beach!

Bwthyn Glanrhyd is situated on coast of Anglesey, overlooking the Cymyran Strait.

There are stunning views across the water, that take in Holy Island, so you’re sure to have a wonderful outlook no matter the weather or time of year.

The holiday cottage boasts direct access down to the water, and when the tide is out you have stretches of sandy coves to explore.

What’s more, the Anglesey Coastal Footpath passes by the house and there is plenty of wildlife to observe!

Whilst the cottage isn’t entirely isolated, it does feel like you’re in your own perfect idyl.

The good news is, despite the locations peacefulness, you are only 10 minutes away from Valley which has convenience stores, a local butchers and Deli, as well as a selection of pubs and restaurants.

You could even sip the odd cocktail at Catch 22 Brasserie.

You’ve got other beaches close by, including Rhoscolyn and Trearddur Bay and you’ve got the scenic coastal road around Anglesey, or hop on the A55 to head even further afield.

Some of the best parts of North Wales are within reach from Bwthyn Glanrhyd! If you need more space for your group, or would like to return with the rest of your family, why not look at the neighbouring houses Glanrhyd Isaf or Glanrhyd Uchaf.

About the location

LLANFAIR YN NEUBWLL

Valley 2 miles; Trearddur Bay 5 miles; Rhoscolyn 5 miles; Holyhead 6 miles.

Llanfair-yn-Neubwll is a small village on the Isle of Anglesey. Just a couple of miles away is the popular village of Valley, which boasts a variety of shops and restaurants, two hotels and a café. It is also home to an RAF base and offers a small number of commercial flights. Llanfair-yn-Neubwll is only five miles from the renowned beach resorts of Trearddur Bay and Rhoscolyn. Here you will find a beautiful sweep of grassy coastline with rocky coves and award-winning sandy beaches, as well as a choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. Other nearby attractions include the South Stack Lighthouse with its RSPB Reserve, the port of Holyhead, with its regular ferry links with Dublin in Ireland, and easy access to the coast road around Anglesey with delightful beaches to visit and a host of other attractions to please the most discerning of visitors.

Note: Bwthyn Glanrhyd is situation on the inland sea between mainland Anglesey and Holy Island in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is reletively secluded and quiet however we should point out that the lane from the highway is also a public footpath, so we request that you take care when driving. From time to time, dependant on the moon and prevailing winds, the high tide may cover the drive between the house and the caravan park. This is not usually for much longer than an hour or two at the most so it should not be too disruptive. It is useful to remember that high tide is generally 45 minutes later than high tide the previous 24hours. If you do find the tide is over the road we suggest that you leave your vehicle at the caravan park and continue your journey on foot. Do Not attempt to drive through the sea water. A useful website we use is www.willyweather.co.uk and you can search for Cymyran to obtain weather and tidal information. Note: RAF Valley is close by and so Military Aircraft can be seen and heard.
