  • "Shops ain’t 15 mins walk away like the post suggests, more like 45 min walk each way."

There’s nothing close by (all driving distance) Bathroom windows have mould around them I understand it’s a old building but the mould wasn’t just a little bit, Fridge was mouldy and smelt which we had to clean before using

  • "We had an absolutely amazing time at Glan y Gors."

We had booked this property last minute after another airbnb fell through. The location was fantastic, only a short drive to Lake Padarn. It was very spacious; more than enough room for our party of 8. The beds were extremely comfortable. They appeared to be brand new, as well as the couches. The place was fully equipped with anything we could have needed for our week stay. Would definitely recommend or book again!

  • "The house was dirty and uncared for."

The sofas were dirty and smelled. The foot stool was broken. The kitchen was dirty especially the fridge and cutlery drawer. The toilet seat upstairs was broken making it uncomfortable to sit on. The bedding in the cot had a blood stain on it. When stripping the beds on departure the quilts and pillows were stained. There was numerous extension cables left on the floor which we felt was a safety hazard, especially with young children around. A number of our party have left with bites on their bodies. The property needs a good clean and to be fully maintained before let to the public.

  • "The cottage is in a lovely location, and it was nice to find milk in the fridge and flowers & cake on the table."

However, the house was dusty and grubby, the kitchen especially, with crumbs on the worktop and grease in the grill pan. I felt I needed to wash all utensils and pans before use. The sitting room is shabby, with inadequate lighting so impossible to read in the evening. The shower chair (which wasn't there on arrival as promised but was swiftly brought round) had tyres that were rotting and crumbling off in large chunks. The bedrooms were OK, though we noticed bare wiring in one of the ceiling lights. This was fixed promptly. The accessible bedroom, on the ground floor, smelt damp, and the drawers had a strange smell, as if they had not been aired for ages. The loo seat in the bathroom we used was cracked in two places, making it quite uncomfortable to sit on. The garden is overgrown, and the ramp & steps down to the overlong grass quite restricted by plants. Gutters were broken, and the lift at the front of the property has clearly not been working for many years. The shaving light in the accessible bathroom flashed on and off, so was effectively unusable. The instructions were out of date, and user manuals were either non-existent or hiding on the top of the kitchen units. When we arrived, there was one small hand towel for each of us, and we had to ferret around to find bath towels, which we eventually did behind the sofa, slightly damp. Sadly, the whole place felt uncared for and very poorly maintained.

  • "Filthy unloved property."

Most of the furniture is not fit for purpose, it is old, well worn and smelly. The kitchen is especially dirty with thick grime around the fridge. A curtain hanging from the sink unit hides further dirt. Cutlery drawer dirty. Sticky kitchen floor. The hearth carpet infront of the fire has curled up edges - a dangerous trip hazard. 3 settees, all smell and all are uncomfortable. The matching cushions need binning, disgusting. The area in front of the property is concreted and worn. The owner hadn't bothered to cut the grass area for us. The 4 poster bed is just that, a bed with 4 posts, no curtains. Carpets throughout are very worn and stained in some areas. Bed linen was clean but very old and worn. Plastic toilet seat so worn that the plastic bits it sits on are protruding through the seat. The disabled room on the ground floor has a curtain in the doorway- next to an external door. I've holidayed in cottages for many, many years and by far, this property is the dirtiest, most uncared for property that I have ever rented. I think the owners must be laughing at renters as they obviously don't care about the service user. I didn't speak directly to the owner. My 92 year old dad was with us and said he didn't want to cause a fuss.

  • "Great for the price."

Comfortable, well-equipped. Good location. The new fireplace since last year was a good improvement. Not necessarily the easiest place to find - perhaps providing a what3words, or a dropped pin on google maps would make that easier. Owner responsive on whatsapp to queries prior to stay.

The fire was a plus in the evenings. Kitchen was really good and had ample utensils to to use, to the point we did a Sunday dinner!! Dogs loved the garden and watching the horses and sheep. Welcome pack was lovely, thank you. Our only issues was the cleaning downstairs, understand its a old property, mat in front of fire and damp behind sofa by TV

  • "A good stay, great location for hiking out towards the Ogwen Valley."

Well equipped place with everything we needed for a weekend. It is not very clear from description but one of the sofas is a sofa bed in the living room which is how it sleeps 12 adults. Plenty of parking - we fitted 6 cars in the parking with no issue. We were all very happy with the price. To improve including some kindling for the fire might be good - and it was trial and error for us to work out which way the vent on the chimney was open / closed. A note would have saved us making it smoky at first! Secondly when we arrived there were some baking trays on top of the oven that were very clearly dirty from a previous occupant. Reflects worse on the previous occupants than the owners - but they could have been spotted and resolved.

" We had a few minor problems, but the owner was helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. It would be useful to have directions from the south as well as from the North, especially as sat nav doesn't help in arriving. (we were warned!)

  • "Upstairs bedrooms/bathrooms were ok but under the beds had not been cleaned."

The shower leaked into the living room from the bathroom on the landing. Downstairs bedroom/bathroom unsuitable for my wife and I - inadequate clothes hanging space. Kitchen had not been cleaned thoroughly eg old onion in breadbin! The appliances were of a good standard and we had a good supply of hot water but the arrangement for the electrics feeding the washing machine concerned us. My wife spent the first hour cleaning/disinfecting all the cupboards/surfaces in the kitchen. Living room furniture was shabby to say the least and several items needed repairing. Cobwebs were present and the room smelt musty. All in all, disappointing for the money we paid.

The disabled facilities were good except one of the single beds was too soft and two low. The kitchen was well-equipped but old and tired. The oven door didn’t shut properly and the fridge was far too small for a family of 8.

  • "Sadly this holiday cottage did not live up to our expectations to the extent that we came home a day early."

The size and the location of the property was what we wanted so no complaints there. We expected an old house and possibly old furniture, however, the whole place inside needs a complete deep clean and de-clutter. The place is dingy and smells damp. The beds have seen better days and the pillows, quilts and bed linen need to be replaced as they are old and marked. An old curtain is used as the door to the downstairs bedroom. We couldn't use the jacuzzi as the mouldy smell in the bathroom was too bad. The garden cannot be used for children to play in as there is an old dilapidated slide and a lot of rubble lying around. The BBQ and patio area are not usable. We took photos of the worst areas but they don't portray our unhappiness and disappointment. This is an unloved, neglected house not a holiday home. We are so disappointed that we rented a property that is so neglected and we feel that we have been ripped off. This house is not worth over £600 for 3 nights (we stayed 2) and ideally we would like our money back.

  • "The sofa bed in the living room was very uncomfortable an needs replacing."

Also, although there was fire-wood provided for the wood-burner, this was damp and there was no kindling wood provided. Finally, more than one roll of toilet paper per bathroom would have been a nice touch. Overall we were happy with the cottage and the location was excellent. A little more attention to detail and fixing the issue with the sofa-bed would have made it excellent..

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
