  • "The Stable was as described, cosy and warm."

We were however disappointed with all external facilities. There were no sun loungers, only one garden chair, a second one was in pieces. We asked the owner for a second garden chair and we were provided with a basic folding wooden stand chair. Neither of the chairs were comfortable and so rendered the garden area unsuitable for sitting out. The access to the garden area is down stone steps without a handrail and the whole garden area was overgrown and neglected.

If there was one thing I would change, it would be the TV, it was far too high and we got neck ache watching the football. As we get older it’s quite painful on the neck watching a high TV. Tracey was very responsive when the smoke alarm battery needed changing which was much appreciated Thank you for a lovely stay!

Perfect little place. Super clean and decorated modern. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was amazing. Only issue for us was the hot tub lights....how do they switch on.....it was too dark in the evening to use. Also the location....quite off grid. The roads are not for the faint hearted. I wouldn't suggest any city cars down these tracks. We had some amazing food from local restraunts. Highly recommended booking a space at the lobster pot down in church bay. Thanks for having us stay.

  • "Lovely cottage a pity we were telephoned on our holiday by the owner to be told that there would be no electricity the following day and suggested we go out before 9 am."

This was disappointing as we were unable to use the facilities and relax on our holiday and particularly disappointing was to be rung and told at such short notice. This forced us to get up early unable to use the hot tub and we were not advised at what time the electricity was to come back on forcing us to stay out all day. This was very disappointing and unsatisfactory. There was also an unpleasant damp smell in the cottage particularly in the bathroom.

I am glad you found the stable lovely, I am sorry about the inconvenience of the electric situation Scottish power had to work on a line at the top of the lane on short notice. Regards Tracy Property Owner

  • "Lovely location and the Stable has been converted to a good standard."

Facilities are good and the small garden area with the hot tub is lovely in the afternoon, especially when sunny. Walks to the coast and local bays are well worth it, walking on the roads is ok as generally quiet. When booking did not realise the closeness of the other larger properties and the fact that the Stable is on the main entry track with the garden/hot tub area across from this. This was not a issue but would have been nice to know prior to coming. Kitchen utensils and crockery needs small changes, e.g. breakfast/standard glasses. Another suggestion is to make the directions to the property more simple, got lost first time.

Property was very tastefully decorated with everything you need.Would stop for supplies on route as there is nowhere close by we could find to pick up milk, butter ect. Robes are available for hot tub but one was very badly stained so didn’t use.Hot tub was across the lane from stable and down some very overgrown steps ,lovely big size but had all bits and sand on seats and floor which was a concern as to if it had been cleaned before our arrival. Lights not working around hot tub area which was a shame as it would have made the pretty little garden area more useable at night. Neither of us had phone signal with Vodafone or Tesco so lucky there was Wi-Fi. Stripped bed on departure and was horrified to find the really comfy bed we had been sleeping on had a very badly stained mattress protector which should be replaced immediately. Stable was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay there but It needs more attention to details to make it perfect.

Thankyou for your feedback it helps us to get our place as perfect as we can for our guests, there is a small rust stain on the back of the robe due to hanging it up in the garden, I couldn’t find a stain on the mattress protector, I am glad you enjoyed the stable and I will endeavour to make it perfect, kind regards Tracy Property Owner

The accommodation was immaculately presented and clean. The summer house was high enough to enjoy the sea view and catch the last bit of sun before it set over horizon without being overlooked by the neighbouring apartment. And a was a nice place to relax with a glass or two of wine once the sun had gone down. The second night of the stay the weather changed after sunset (wind and rain), however the accommodation was a cosy place to snuggle up for the evening. The owner obviously takes a lot of pride in it. It is set in a beautiful part of North Wales. The garden has lots of old quirky ornaments. We had amazing nights sleep as it’s pitch black and silent at night, away from traffic and street lights. The hot tub is a bonus. We are definitely returning as soon as we can get a booking, it’s fully booked up and although I want to leave a good review I really don’t want it becoming too popular or I’ll never be able to return!!! The little secret garden and hot tub made for a very relaxing break. The accommodation was spotless clean when we arrived and well equipped with a nice little welcome card to greet us. Kitchen had everything you needed but just missed being able to wash towels to keep them fresh, as there was no washing machine. The directions to the cottage were spot on and it was so easy to find. Lovely places to visit included Plas Newydd and Penryn Castle, and finding the little bays located along the coast line was particularly enjoyable. We walked along the coastal path towards Wilfa Power Station, which was quiet and very scenic. In the times of the "pandemic" this was an ideal and safe location to stay. Stable was very clean, with everything you needed. Downside,to start with, was the road down to the Stable. In very poor condition, full of potholes. Dread to think what damage has been caused to suspension of my car. Secondly, the Stable is very close to owners house, with scaffolding up. Not the best of views. Also close to 2 other holiday accommodations. One with hot tub, so quite noisy. I would never had booked it if i’d known. The outdoor ‘private’ area is close to next doors accommodation,& large seat was full of water. Then 2 men turned up with chainsaws to build some play area. It certainly wasn’t quiet or picturesque. Not what I expected at all.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback following your recent stay at Hen Gilfach Stables.  The very harsh winter weather has had a very bad effect on many of our rural tracks and is a priority now as the weather is slowly improving for effective repairs to take place.  I understand the house with scaffolding is being re-rendered, so not noisy work but appreciate not the prettiest thing.
\nI can only apologise that you were disturbed by the hot tub being used in the cottage down the lane.  It is not a complaint that we have received before, but we will take a look at the website and see if there is anything we can do to make the other accommodation more obvious.
