Spacious apartment with all the necessary stuff for a short stay. No central heating but the electric heaters were very effective.

  • "The property is a bit outdated and was only surface-cleaned."

There was mold in the shower and e.g. the covers to box in pipes in the bathroom and window sills were dusty. One of the drawers in a bedroom were broken. There was no remote for the TV. Everything was good enough, but it wasn't amazing and I didn't feel like much effort was made. But the location is amazing, so the owners don't need to win visitors back for another stay,

  • "Pros -The location of the apartment is amazing."

Within walking distance to Snowdon, the waterfall and the lake train. Parking was great right outside the apartment but also on the road outside so could leave the car even after we had checked out. The views out of the windows are amazing. The apartment is very spacious. Cons -Inside the property the stairway up had a damp smell. Every chest of drawers is broken, didn't affect us as we only stayed for two nights so didn't use them but if you were staying for longer and wanted to unpack I can imagine this would cause problems. The freezer froze all of our food so had to be thrown away. We needed to wash all cups and plates etc before using as they weren't clean The beds were extremely creaky and not very comfortable. The bedroom light wouldn't work and the smoke alarm was beeping however these were fixed by the host after our first night. Although my list of cons outweighs the pros, if you're looking for a large place to stay close to everything with good parking then it definitely meets that and with only a few adjustments it would be amazing. If I were visiting the area again I would stay again.

  • "Excellent stay in a very spacious apartment."

Every room of generous size. Good food and drink at the pub / restaurant on the corner just a few yards away. Fridge appeared to be stuck on maximum freeze setting. Water pressure at the shower head was poor. For a railway enthusiast, it was a delight to stay in an original London & North Western Railway building. Overall - apart from the weather - a great visit.

  • "Overall our stay was pleasant."

The views were spectacular and the beds were super comfy. The location was ideal, very close to Snowdon and all the local shops, bars and restaurants. There are a few things that could be addressed to make this property even better. There was a broken door handle in the living room, one of the heaters didn’t work, dead moths on the windowsill, sunken floorboards in the bathroom and cobwebs on the ceiling of the main bedroom. The kitchen walls were quite stained, but nothing a lick of paint couldn’t fix. As we were out most of the day, these things did not impact on our overall experience as we used the property as a base to explore. The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, with a fully equipped kitchen and towels and bedding provided. The shower could be a little temperamental but details were in the visitor book to explain how to fix this. The rooms were a great size and accommodated our family of 5 well. Overall, we had a great stay and this location was perfect for us.

Unfortunately, the fridge was faulty - it froze all items placed in it eg milk, butter, salad...Another problem was that the bathroom sink was blocked and it took ages for it to drain.

  • "Positives: great views especially from the very large lounge, spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds and plenty of cupboards."

Negatives: did not expect to have no central heating … (stayed in February); the electric heaters helped but parts of the apartment remained cold. Comments about the bathroom from an earlier review still apply. Having received no check-in instructions, not hearing back from owner despite leaving text and voice messages on the day of arrival was not ideal

  • "The location of this apartment is fantastic - all of Llanberis is just a short walk away."

The local shop for food was literally a stone's throw from the apartment. The apartment is really light, with windows on both sides, and great views all around. The kitchen is equipped for cooking with a good cooker and hob, and the shower is lovely, although a bit problematic to get going (however the guidebook provides a work around for this). The electric heating was a bit of a problem - only two convector heaters and two other fan heaters, although we were given a third fan heater. This gave us heating in two of the three bedrooms, the lounge and the kitchen, but the towel rail in the bathroom wasn't working at all during our stay, so this room was colder. Convector heaters in all rooms would have been quieter and more comfortable, although we do particularly feel the cold, so other guests may find the temperature easier. The beds, sofas and dining chairs were all comfortable. The wifi worked from time to time, but the mobile signal was good enough to get 4G when the wifi cut out. A large TV (for those who want one) with a good reception. The apartment is upstairs, but the stairs aren't steep. We'd recommend this flat, but if you feel the cold, bring a couple of extra layers for the evenings.

This was an ideal base to explore Snowdonia and had ample space. The bath and shower were well used after our adventures and the kitchen met all our needs. The landlord was on hand whenever needed. The weather ensured we made use of the games in the apartment and although it was the height of summer the little heater came in handy too. Highly recommended for a family like ours.

  • "We had a great time at the apartment."

It is a really nice place and a fantastic location. Being able to check in late and check out early was great for us. The towel rail in the bathroom didn't work so it was a little chilly in there but everything else was great. We would like to stay again in the future.

    Reviewed by Jonathan5.0May 2019

  • "Flat was cold - it doesn't have central heating, and the supplied electric heaters were insufficient to heat the whole flat."

Also, the towel rail in the bathroom only got hot briefly (and only on Sunday morning). Bed was uncomfortable - the mattress isn't pocket sprung, so any movement woke the other up, and the bed linen was poly-cotton. Everything in the kitchen needed washing before use.

This is a wonderful location for all the family. Water sports and the mountains will keep you entertained even in the snowy conditions that we experienced. Throw in the two narrow gauge railways, walks, slate museum, hydro electric experience, cycle tracks and plenty of places to eat out, means never a dull moment. This holiday home is right in the middle of all the above activities. You can park your car right outside the door and forget about till it its time to go home. However we holidayed in November and felt that the heating supplied was highly inadequate. If it had been July we would have been very impressed with the apartment. We would highly recommend the apartment, but would strongly warn anyone of the heating arrangements in winter.

As a group of friends we have explored the area and climbed Snowden. This was the perfect base with all amenities really close by and I mean really close. Matthew, Val and Anne were super nice and extremely welcoming. Nothing was to much trouble which really made our holiday even more special. The apartment was lovely and very well kitted out, beds comfy, big kitchen, nice sitting room. We even played monopoly which was there. I haven't done this in years and I could see they have put a lot of thought in to providing little extras. On the Friday we had friends who were staying in the area over for drinks over as the apartment was so homely. I would recommend this to family or friends alike looking for somewhere to stay and base themselves for exploring this part of the world.

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
