  • "It can be difficult to find a property for a UK holiday."

Typically there will be always something wrong with it. Ty Gwennol is as close to perfection as you could possibly get Run by Martin and Elaine, they had it super clean when we arrived. They were both delightful and attentive to our needs without being overwhelming or in your face. The 3 bedrooms are all comfy and loverly. Reasonably dark at night for those people that struggle to sleep with light. Each room also had a touch that doubled as a night light which was a loverly touch if you needed it. The beds were super clean and comfy. Plenty of storage with hangers provided. The kitchen is very well stocked. So if your bringing lots of food like we did you won't feel underequipped. Great size table. Decent sized fridge/ freezer. There was also a fantastically little coffee maker provided. Living room was so cosy and very comfy. Great tv with a good variety of channels. Including Netflix, amazon, Disney etc. Plenty of atmospheric lights in the living room. A loverly Woodburner. We ran out of all the stuff and martin refilled it when we asked with no issues. Easy access to the hot tub which is placed very well for stargazing. Well maintained and cleaned throughout stay. Although we never saw them clean it as they did it while we were out on adventures. It's a loverly peice of land with a dog safe rear garden. Martin and Elaine do have dogs which were loverly to cudle but did not like my dog. So when out the front best keep pets on the lead. The location is loverly. Your on a loverly peice of land tucked away. There are some beautiful horses. If you like to run we ran along the land and along the roads. Just go left out the property or it all hill hahah. It's a heavenly and peaceful place. You are only 20 mins from Hollyhead and Trearddur Bay which have almost the shops you could need. Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, B&M etc. There are some amazing costal walks you can take. Anglesey is beautiful. I used the Altrails app to find the. However, Martin and Elaine know the area well and directed us to several walks but also beaches that were essentially ours as no one seemed to know about them. In terms of walks I recommend the trearddur circuit north west coastline of Trearddur Bay. It's starts a a beautiful beach cove and then go's along the cost. Only short (90 mins) but you can make it a lot longer. There were some loverly little suprise touches in the cottage throughout but I won't spoil them. It's rare for a place to be so perfect but it is. If you decide to stay here. The season won't matter. You will be at peace.

Thank you so much for such kind words, really pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

It isn’t really ideal to all have to watch the same tv. Also a light that lights up the garden.

Super dog friendly. Owners are lovely and dog (& horse) lovers themselves. Garden has a high but discrete fence around so super safe for the dogs. Lots of beaches close by and also dog friendly. Martin (owner) was very helpful with local information. Prosecco and chocolates were much appreciated.

Martin was a great host and was available to help us when we needed advice. Everything was as described on the website, if not better. The kitchen is well equipped and it was perfect for our multi-generational group! The hot-tub was a great feature and the gardens were particularly well-maintained and beautiful. We found the location perfect as a base for exploring Anglesey. There were beautiful beaches and lots of good eating options nearby. Highly recommended!

Better even than its description, the cottage has been beautifully fitted out and maintained by Elaine and Martin, Inside and out everything was prepared to a high standard. The hot tub was a joy! Our dogs were immediately at home and unlike some owners who claim gardens are secure, the large garden was both beautiful and totally safe. Owners live on site. This was never intrusive. They were always approachable, friendly and helpful. This is a site and location that we would happily give 6 stars out of 5, if that was possible. We will be back!

This is our third visit to Ty Gwennol. Every visit reveals more of the hard work they are putting in to make the experience even more special. From the peaceful idyllic location, layout, standard of cleanliness, the quality of furnishings, we cannot fault it in any way. The layout of the property is great, with a south facing garden, large pergola, Bbq and large secure area for the dogs to run around in it’s just ideal. There is a decking area, perfect for soaking up the sun and a large hot tub which is kept in tip top condition. Elaine and Martin are perfect hosts and very knowledgeable about Anglsey if you need a heads up. We would wholeheartedly recommend Ty Gwenol.

We had the most fabulous weather, but this cottage would be perfect anytime of year - in fact we were slightly disappointed that it was too warm to light the fire! The accommodation is extremely well appointed, homely and very comfortable. The kitchen had every item one could wish for and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever experienced in a holiday home. Martin and Elaine were very welcoming and helpful. I think for these hosts nothing would be too much trouble. Elaine ensured we had good directions, as sat navs are misleading near the end of the journey, and they left as a lovely basket of goodies as a welcome. The beautiful orchard garden was such a great space for the dogs, it was secure and large enough for them to explore and run off some energy. The baby grandson enjoyed crawling around on the grass too, and we loved listening to all the bird life. The hot tub was a boon and we were lucky enough to be able to sit in it and enjoy clear dark star filled skies. The property is very quiet and private and you feel you are in the middle of nowhere, but it is actually very quick to drive to pubs, restaurants, beaches etc - although we found it hard to drag ourselves away from the comfort of the cottage. We spent ages choosing accommodation for our weekend, I don't think we could have picked a better option.

  • "We've just returned from a week at Ty Gwennol."

We arrived during storm Dudley at the most beautiful cottage, thankfully the owners had called me before Id set off to explain the bridge closures, later they helped us find the place via a telephone call as our Sat nav kept trying to take us up a dead end single lane track, (advice, read the 'how to get there' section in the email). The cottage was immaculate, so beautifully decorated, the cottage and its owners, Elaine and Martin, were most welcoming, they gave me a quick run through of how everything worked then returned to their home next door while we settled in. They had lit a roaring fire for us which was a welcome sight after driving through the storm and had even left us a welcome basket of Welsh delicacies, so thoughtful! The cottage has EVERYTHING you could need, everything was so well considered. We couldn't really explore the island much due to further Weather warnings but the cottage was so comfortable we didn't really feel like we were missing out. It was pretty miserable outside but the braver members of our group still used the hot tub and thoroughly enjoyed it, there is a bookcase full of a wide variety of books, a selection of games and two tvs to watch if you ever get bored of watching the fire, which I didn't. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped, making a variety of cooking so much easier. Martin and Elaine really have thought of everything to make your stay as effortless as possible. The only thing we had to get used to initially was the creaking beams as people walk around upstairs but its a beamed cottage, I guess that happens and we quickly got used to it. We will definitely be going back to this stunning cottage, hopefully in better weather so we can enjoy the garden and local area.

  • "Six of us had a wonderful 3 night break at Ty Gwennol over the weekend before Christmas and Martin & Elaine were perfect hosts; nothing was too much trouble for them and while their presence in the neighbouring property was discreet and unobtrusive."

Martin was unperturbed by our delayed arrival and had a roaring fire in the log burner to welcome us. The cottage itself was extremely well-equipped and scrupulously clean with the lovely addition of a Christmas tree to mark the season. The younger members of our party made good use of the hot tub, which they said was the best they’d ever used. All in all, this spacious cottage is a little gem that I would highly recommend. Thank you to Elaine & Martin for providing us with a fabulous break!

  • "Spacious, well equipped and definitely well secure for dogs."

Hot tub was excellent and the beds were super comfy. Great showers although we had to adjust the hot water/heating settings a little. Really lovely, helpful owners, especially where our dogs were concerned. Would benefit from more outside lighting (especially for taking dogs in the garden when it's dark) and an outside tap for washing them off. The owners are planning to add an al fresco area with gazebo which will be a great addition to the garden.

  • "Elaine and Martin were very welcoming throughout the whole of our stay."

They made my whole family feel comfortable straight away. The property is beautiful and cosy. Hot tub was great and the views from the garden are lovely and it felt private, no one is looking in. We went to Catch 22 Brasier for a meal out which is a 10 minute drive from the property, food and place was amazing. We did the walk to the beach from the property which is only a 5 mile all around trip (I believe it can be made shorter too). Short drives to other bays and we saw seals and pups on the church bay coastal walk. Overall would highly recommend this beautiful place. Thank you for being great hosts Elaine and Martin!

  • "I just wanted to say what a lovely weekend we have had at Ty Gwennol."

Firstly I received an email the day before I was due to arrive from them just warning me that the weather forecast wasn't great for the weekend, but they wished me a safe journey and enjoyable stay with them. When we arrived we were greeted with a quick instruction on how to use the dishwasher and the hot tub and where everything was and if we needed anything else where we can find them. The property was spotless and exactly as advertised we really couldn't have asked for more, there was everything you could think of and a lovely welcome basket. I honestly cant praise them highly enough, even helped changed our tyre after finding a slow puncture, definately above & beyond being a holiday cottage host.

Owners are 'on site' and available to guests as and when needed. The location was idyllic especially in good weather, so guests can enjoy the surrounding garden as well as the house. Only drawback was distance from shower to hot tub!

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Ty Gwennol."

The location is quiet and rural and relatively close to the coast (long walk or short drive to nearest beach - Porth Tywyn Mawr). The house is very comfortable, well equipped and has a private garden with a hot tub on raised decking. The owners live in a separate property on site and are very friendly and helpful. As you would expect most of the things to do on Anglesey are seaside related (beaches, costal path walking). We also did coasteering with Anglesey Adventures (from Porth Dafarch on Holy Island) and really enjoyed it. In terms of food would recommend The Lobster Pot restaurant in nearby Church Bay for good sea food (booking essential) and the nearby Mill (Melin Llynon) for excellent donuts (or Monuts as they call them).
