  • "Holiday cottage was ready on arrival."

Room looked clean but there was a substantial dog odour (we are dog owners and love dogs) but the windows were all open and we assumed it was to mask the smell as once the windows were shut the smell intensified. The stay was pleasant and we slept well. The cabin slept 6 but had six guests been there it would have been cramped and over crowded as the living/dining area is small. On departure we were informed we needed to leave the place as we found it (tidy), remove any bed linen and place it into a bag, then finally empty the bins and recycling. Whilst I appreciate it is nice to keep the place tidy, we spent the departure morning cleaning and stripping beds in fear if it wasn’t up to ‘standard’ we would be charged. This is not something any guest should be doing while on ‘holiday’ The bins were a walk down the road and took two journeys due to the recycling, we then stripped beds, hoovered, tidied which took time away from enjoying the area. We are happy to wash up and give the place a quick tidy but moving forward paying guests should not have to clean to this extent as this is what they have paid for. A holiday (self catering or not) should not involve stripping beds and emptying bins!

Clearly we were sad to read your review, but hope others will see that it is unusual. We are sorry about the odour. We did our usual deep clean that day & always leave the windows on the latch for airing, not for masking any smells as you suggest. Sorry you felt the check out guidelines were an inconvenience. For hygiene reasons we kindly ask guests to strip the beds (used), and we’ve never charged anyone for not doing so. We don’t expect guests to hoover, but yes emptying the bins we do asks guests to do, which is standard practice. Y Caban is situated in the most beautiful location and offers a cosy relaxing break. Obviously we know we won’t please everyone, but it’s a shame you couldn’t share more elements of your break you did enjoy. Property Owner

  • "Excellent stay couldn’t find anything wrong, but did experience difficulties with the WI-FI connection."

Thank you for staying with us, and for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Apologies you experienced WiFi connection issues. We have now hardwired the Caban directly into the modem, which has resolved this. Property Owner

  • "I stayed here with my mum and dad and we had a lovely time, very private and secluded, the weather was hit and miss but the cabin was comfortable to chill in when the weather was bad."

There are lots of gorgeous walks close by and the coastal walk was stunning! We will definitely be back. Thank you both for a lovely stay :)

  • "Lovely lodge, in a peaceful area."

Lodge had everything you would need, only missing a washing machine. There wasn’t really anywhere for the dogs to do their business, as every single piece of grass was fenced off. Did also feel a little bit watched, with the owners being directly behind and above the lodge. We received a text to put the lid on the hot tub whilst my partner was using it, which did feel a little intrusive. Also never stayed anywhere where there has been a lot of instructions on departure, including stripping the bed sheets and putting them in a bag. Just felt like the guests are expected to do a lot to avoid as much being done before the next guests arrive, especially when we had to leave by 10am. We were woken up a couple of mornings around 7.30am, with what sounded like building works, which could have waited until 9am knowing guests are next door. But overall very nice stay, would recommend as it is in such a lovely area, but maybe without dogs.

  • "Y Caban provides very nice accommodation that is well equipped and comfortable."

Great outdoor decking and patio area with a hot tub that is private and the outdoor area is secure so the dogs were safe to wander around. Location is quiet and peaceful with lovely open views. Only a 5 minute car drive from the bay and village. We enjoyed a lovely weeks holiday here and would definitely recommend it.

  • "This was a lovely break away for us family of 4, very quiet and peaceful."

The weather wasnt too great but it was November but dad and son did have a plunge in the hot tub, haha. The property was very clean and tidy on arrival with everything you would need for a short stay even a lovely lemon cake which was beautiful, the attention to detail really stood out here and was extremely welcoming. I would 100% recommend a stay here if you want peace and quiet, we had a few rides out in the car to different places but with the weather being nasty we were more than happy to get back to the lodge and sit n relax in the warmth. Thank you for our lovely stay.

We stayed as a group of 3 and had plenty of space but 6 might feel tight. We will definitely be booking to come back.
