  • "Following our last visit in June this year we were pleased find that all items mentioned in need of attention had been dealt with and Ael y Bryn was back to its former comfort and convenience."

  • "Lovely cottage - was very clean on arrival, beds were super comfy and we were grateful that our dogs were made so welcome."

We didn’t have any issue with dogs escaping the garden as commented on by previous users, the field behind the hedge had no animals in it so our dogs weren’t tempted to explore further! Lots of home comforts here, kitchen full of everything you need and plenty of games, books etc. excellent WiFi if you need it. The cottage is in a quiet residential lane, note the walk to and from the High Street is a bit of a climb if you have mobility issues but there’s plenty of parking there. Very relaxing place to stay.

Does need fencing to secure garden, farm animals are the other side. Three or four holes found. Was alot of webs, and needed a thorough clean. All in all, quiet and peaceful with lots of walks. Would recommend.

  • "Cleanliness and presentation of the cottage up to the usual good standard."

Unfortunately little or no improvement in the outside space and access to the back door since our comments following our previous visit a month ago. Lawn area still overgrown, surrounding ivy, brambles etc still encroaching on paths especially path from gate to back door which is the most convenient to use. Upturned food bin, Pyrex unwashed casserole and flower pot all just outside back door amongst the weeds and undergrowth. Such lack of care and attention doesn’t make the outside space an attractive prospect when the summer months give opportunities to use the garden furniture for fresh air and sunshine. Photos available if required. 2 hours general clearing and tidying would present a cared for, well maintained and attractive outdoor space.

  • "As regular visitors to Ael y Bryn we appreciate the presentation and cleanliness of the accommodation."

Proper - Ty housekeeping gives evidence of well maintained standards. One minor detraction was the overgrowth of brambles, goose grass etc on the path from gate to back door which had to be addressed with the kitchen scissors to enable easy access.

The garden had a lovely little suntrap area and it was a joy to wake up to the sound of birds singing and very little else. There was a surprising amount of room inside and we loved the layout, quirky and interesting. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped and we appreciated having dog bowls and more. The location for exploring Anglesey was really ideal too. We all agreed we would very happily return and thought it was very good value for money.

Hmmm, I thought..I must have made a mistake, it must have been 3 beds: oh no! I'll have to share. Suddenly, my son shouted 'I've found another bedroom!'. It was like Narnia through the wardrobe haha...there was indeed another delightful bedroom on the ground floor. This was perfect for my elderly parents, as there was a downstairs as well as an upstairs WC. The detached cottage was bliss, and we enjoyed the space it awarded us. There were 3 generations of us, and we all loved this handsome cottage as much as the other. We'll be back if there are vacancies left. Big thank you to the owners!!

So pleased you liked it! Don’t tell anyone but the downstairs bedroom is actually the best one! And we’d love to have you again! Property Owner

  • "We loved the space, the efficient heating, the lovely bathrooom with lots of hot water."

Also loved that it’s dog friendly though they could escape from the garden. We had some issues with dirty saucepans just stuffed in the cupboard. Unlike other cottages we have stayed in there were no cleaning products at all apart from dishwasher tabs. Perhaps if you provided a pan scourer and washing up liquid these problems could be avoided. We thought 4 logs for a weeks rental was miserly and Welsh cakes 2 months past their sell by date not acceptable as a welcome pack!! Those things aside we had a good Christmas week with ok weather and would consider staying there again.

As this cottage was a last minute booking for us, our original one had been sold by the owner, we only got 3 days notice, not I might add Sykes fault as they only got 3 days notice, it wasn't what we would have chosen. Saying that, I am sure many family's would enjoy the cottage, it was clean and well equipt, quite big, dog friendly too, but unfortunately not to our taste.

Comfortable with good accommodation. Slightly irritated by the dripping tap in the kitchen and a little puzzled by the lack of obvious waste recycling instructions (minor issues which Im sure can be easily addressed). Good place for dogs - secure garden and easy access to good footpaths, nice walks. Menai Bridge provides easy access to a wide range of really interesting places to visit.

The beds are very comfortable and the shower is nice and powerful, both essentials for us. There were a few minor maintenance issues that didn't affect the use of the property and I left a note of these for the owner as they were things you would only notice by living there for a few days so hopefully they will be fixed for the next people staying. Menai Bridge is a brilliant location for exploring Anglesey, North Wales Coast, Snowdonia and Llyn Peninsula. Plus it is only 10 minutes from Bangor for any amenities.

Off road parking. Property itself lovely and quirky, 3 small cottages into one, so layout unusual. Beds comfy. Decor tired, needs a paint and some new curtains, and carpet in main bedroom looks rumpled. Kitchen pretty well equipped but dripping tap. Cheese grater would be nice to have. Shower lovely apart from some mould patches. Cleaning could be better (shower not draining so I had to do shower trap on arrival, yuk! Plus some dirty dishes on shelves). Garden has potential to be a lovely spot, with some work and a comfy seat. Washing line would be a real bonus. Owner Katy and her sister seemed lovely.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Ael Y Bryn."

It is a quirky cottage on two levels with beamed ceilings and interesting little nooks and crannies. A well stocked kitchen, with most everything you could need. There is a sideboard packed with games for the family to play around the dining table, and several DVD's and books to chose from. We particularly liked the layout with several rooms to spread yourself around for a bit of peace and quiet if needed. The garden wasn't huge but plenty of room for our dogs to wander around, they were fascinated by the sheep and cows in the next field. Plenty of dog bowls were provided, along with a bag full of blankets for them. They were as comfortable as we were. The property is in a great location for visiting local tourist attractions, and it is only a short walk into Menai Bridge itself. Informative welcome pack, although we would have liked a little more information about recycling, but maybe that is just us :-) and we couldn't find an outside washing line. All that said, it's a lovely place to visit, very homely and comfortable and we would definitely return.

Thank you for leaving feedback Pam. It's always very useful and glad you had a nice time. Fiona Property Owner

The kitchen tap leaked although a man who came to maintain the garden did try to fix it. The location was good but we did have to use the car everyday. The book of dog and pub walks was appreciated as we used it most days. Dog blankets, bowls and poo bags were supplied which also helped us. The beds and shower were great too. Comfortable outside furniture to enjoy a drink after the sight seeing would have been good but we sat on the iron ones provided. I would recommend the cottage to friends.

Previous visits have been very satisfactory. This time: On arrival required number of beds not made up and one bedroom not ready. Carpet cleaner arrived to rectify carpet ‘accident’ from previous guests. Oven failed to reach temperature and failed completely on last day No instructions at all for ceramic hob. Trial and error sometimes successful, sometimes not. As experienced holiday cottage visitors we would expect all systems to be in working order on arrival. My only complaint is that there was a lot of dog hair in the cottage. We have 2 dogs and I was happy to vacuum and sweep each morning but the upright vacuum cleaner was already clogged with dog hair so not picking up well. We unblocked it but it still didn’t pick up as my one at home does. There was a cordless Dyson but that had a short battery life. I brought this to the owner’s attention so hopefully the cleanliness will improve in the future. In every other respect the cottage was superb.
