  • "Lovely stay stunning lounge well appointed bedrooms and superb kitchen area."

For our party group it was perfect with the outdoor space and hot tub. Heating hot water and toilet paper were a given in ample supply. Not a negative but a consideration stairs to second and third floor for our Newfoundland but we took her round the outside and she was fine x smaller dogs could have been carried….. highly recommend to anyone and location was spot on

  • "The property was booked for a family group of 10 adults to celebrate my wife's birthday and it is certainly an ideal location for such an event."

The dining kitchen is very spacious and the lounge is huge and very impressive - all offering plenty of room for large groups. The bathrooms are nicely appointed. These are all the positives. In terms of things that could be improved, the cooker and dishwasher are at the end of their life with one oven door not closing correctly and the dishwasher only working effectively if half loaded. The owner was easily contactable to answer some initial questions we had regarding the heating and the WiFi, the latter of which doesn't work on the ground floor. Better details of these points in the information book, particularly regarding the WiFi, would be helpful. Unfortunately the hot tub, whilst hot, was not bubbling and the control panel was not working at the beginning of the holiday but the owner was responsive to our raising these concerns and came out to look at it. He was unable to fix it so called an engineer out and it was working extremely well for the last four days of our holiday. The bed linen and towels are quite old and some would benefit from being replaced. There is an eclectic mixture of cooking utensils with many mis-matched pans and lids and tins that didn't fit the oven, however, just about every cooking item you need is available. The cleanliness on arrival was overall very good, however, there were a number of crumbs under small appliances in the kitchen. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all very well presented. In summary I would give an overall 4.5 rating and would definitely stay in this property again.

  • "Our second time staying here."

this is a wonderfully spacious house for a big family gathering. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. A minor comment, which is not a criticism, is that the dishwasher may be nearing the end of its life and it was important not to overfill it. We look forward to staying again if the opportunity arises.

  • "This was our second and last ever visit to this house- we had thought we had been unlucky to find faults last year which we assumed would be rectified."

Instead things were worse! We had to hoover the main lounge before we could use it - amongst the bits of cheese, broken seashells, dust and grime we also found a battery in the rug- a clear danger to our children, baby and dog. The hoover bag needs changing, by the way, as it smells disgusting. The entire house really needs a deep clean, as I put my clothes in the cupboard I had to duck the copious cobwebs complete with spiders and dust. Awful smell from the drain in top room bathroom- if you’re there now, put the plug in the bath and stick to the shower but watch out for the shower head dropping out of its holder…luxury bathroom it is not! Most of the towels are past their best. There is only one hand towel in the kitchen which is not very helpful when 4 or more people have had to wash dishes by hand. The dishwasher is a waste of space- even when we only half or third filled it most of the dishes came out dirty and had to be washed by hand- try doing that with 12 sets of crockery 3 times a day and then add pans, glasses and cutlery! We only used the dishes and glasses we washed first, if you go any deeper into the cupboards, you’ll find many more that are still dirty from previous holiday makers who simply got fed up with the dishwasher and just put their dishes back onto the shelves straight from the dishwasher. Don’t know why there are so many drawers and cupboards full of the owners bits and pieces- broken knobs, pack of cigarettes, reels of cable, numerous tins of paint…the list goes on. Under the sink there is enough cleaning stuff to actually complete a deep clean several times over- but that was not our job! Too many odd pans without lids that fit. No microwave bowls or microwave lidded crockery which actually fits in the microwave. Loads of jugs for show but only one really old plastic one. In its favour… the hot tub is working at the moment. There is plenty of hot water. The washing machine and tumble dryer work well. All the ovens work but one door doesn’t close properly- you have to lift and place it shut. The house has ample and spacious rooms and the beach is within walking distance. This place has so much potential for luxury but currently is far from satisfactory and no where near worth over £4k per week. Very disappointing.

  • "Had a great stay here, 13 of us and 2 dogs."

This house far exceeded our expectations, it was massive, with a well equipped kitchen and beautifully decorated, we loved all the quirky pictures and ornaments in the main lounge. Hot tub was great, although a little tricky to use, we struggled to get the temp right, it was a little too hot at times, but we still enjoyed it. WIFI was ok, although didnt really work in the kitchen, which was a shame as would of been nice to listen to some music whilst eating dinner or playing games around the huge table. Location was good, there's a rocky beach a short walk away down a steep road, but if you dont mind a bit of longer walk 20/30 mins either through the campsite or along the coastal path you will come to Benllech beach which is beautifully sandy. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back.

  • "The property is lovely as are the grounds."

I had to contact the host and she was very quick in responding and very helpful. Whilst the property is clean (bedding clean, towels clean, bathrooms clean) the kitchen could do with a deep clean (we had to re-wash a lot of items in the kitchen). The hot tub was at the perfect temperature. The property has everything a large group would need. There are shops a short drive away. The one disappointment was the location of the property. The location shown on Sykes Cottages was not where the property is located. It is a 15 minute walk to the beach - a lot of the walk isn't easily accessible for a childs pram.

  • "This property has outstanding potential, but is badly let down by a few things that would be relatively easy and inexpensive to resolve."

The lack of cleanliness was the major issue, with various areas being dirty, and many cobwebs throughout the property. This will probably prevent us from booking a Sykes holiday in the future. The hot tub was not sufficiently hot, and people had to get out pretty quickly to prevent getting cold. I appreciate that degree of warmth is a personal choice, but then not giving guests the control over the heating, either inside the house or in the hot tub was a major disappointment. Also, it appeared that similar issues have been raised previously, but not acted on. It gave our party the impression that the owners were seeking to save every penny, but sadly this approach has caused issues which severely impacted on our enjoyment of the holiday.

The only thing was that the internet/wi fi was intermittent especially downstairs in the kitchen, could do with some additional hubs to boost the signal and provide sufficient coverage. Other than that we had no complaints and had a lovely break for my dad's 70th birthday with all our family. Thank you, the Harrisons.

  • "This property really had the wow factor."

We were all taken aback by the sheer size of the property, particularly the lounge which was just massive. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great, though it’s a good 10 mins walk down to the nearest beach and that’s down a steep, busy road with no pavement so take care! There’s a lovely little beach (about 20 mins walk away) just by the ‘tavern on the bay’ pub which we all enjoyed at low tide. Benllech beach was a drive away but definitely worth a visit a low tide. We had a lovely meal at The Boathouse on Easter Sunday. Top quality food and adult portions were plentiful and delicious. Back to the house, the lower ground floor has the kitchen/dining/family area. We liked it in here as a place to gather. There was a Wc and great, warm utility room on this floor which dried our towels v quickly. Up 14 steps to the middle floor, where there was a massive lounge, rocking horse, table football, two king sized bedrooms, and two further bedrooms, a bathroom and another WC. Upstairs again took you to the top floor which had the biggest two bedrooms, both en-suite, and a playroom which doubles up as a kids bedroom for two (though no windows and a low roof height made this room dark). We all had a wonderful stay and would return but have a few areas that we think could have made the property/experience better which I’ll put below. These are not criticisms but constructive feedback to help improve the experience for future guests. 1. Dishwasher. Not great to only have one for 15 people. It also needed maintenance which we discovered when our plates came out dirty on our first few uses of the dishwasher. One or two of our group are handy with these things and washed the filters and removed the spray arms to clean them which were clogged up with dirt/grease. Once we had cleaned these and refitted them, the dishwasher worked fine. We shouldn’t have to do this. 2. Who doesn’t love a decent cuppa in the morning? The mugs were either chipped or too small. One innocent black mug gave us a real giggle once it was filled with hot water!! It revealed a rude surprise which we all thought was hilarious!! A decent batch of large mugs is needed. 3. Heating- we could not get the radiators to work, despite putting the controls on properly and opening the radiator valves. So top floor bedrooms were cold. Conversely, the middle floor underfloor heating was way too hot at times and the individual thermostats didn’t seem to turn down the heat! 4. There is so much stuff in the house, in all the cupboards/shelves etc that it was hard to know what belonged to our party and what was already there when we arrived. Less clutter would make it easier to clean too. 5. Hot tub- worked brilliantly but it wasn't cleaned or topped up whilst we were there. Instructions on how to top it up and make sure the chemicals were sufficient would have improved this. By the time we left, the water level was lower than the jets and the water really needed a clean. 6. Oven. Took ages to cook our food compared to fan ovens but we got used to it eventually! 7. An enclosed garden area would have been handy so the dog could’ve gone outside without the risk of her running off. Despite these areas to improve, the property far exceeded our expectations in many, many ways. It was a beautiful house and fantastic for the adults, kids and dog. We would love to return one day. Thank you.

The house was comfortably large enough for 8 adults 4 children and 2 dogs and in a great location We made good use of the hot tub ( would have liked a chemical test kit though) and all the communal rooms -in particular the children’s play room, the large lounge and the settee in the kitchen area and the table that accommodated us all We did think that for a house geared up for children that plastic cups would have been useful We were disappointed that the washing machine wasn’t working and communication with the owner was poor and a repair or replacement was not provided The amount of nik naks on surfaces meant that we couldn’t clean properly We also didn’t think the dishwasher was adequate for large numbers and didn’t clean properly Water pressure in the showers was variable especially when two were used at once Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely consider visiting again

  • "The photos absolutely don’t do the house justice, I’m sure with better photos you will have an increased occupancy."

Unfortunately and starting with the picky and small negatives: Towels were left in the drier No Bath mats so had to use small towels Detailed cleaning of the house; Skirting boards dirty, previous occupants rubbish under the sofa and down between the cushions and under the TV. When the shower is switched on the first floor, the top floor water supply almost stops. I know, how deva ish? However, this did not cause an issue to us and we absolutely loved our stay. We text the owners regarding no fire wood being in situ, within 10 minutes they had arrived with some wood. Top class service. A pool table in place of the amazingly ornate table football would be a fantastic addition and give more fun on those rainy days (it persisted down every day of our stay). A good call would be to mention you need to book a table at both The Ship Inn (very miserable and unappealing staff) and the Boat House. We were left hanging a little for anything in walking distance but managed to get into the Ship Inn, considering there were 8 of us (and we like a drink) they could have been more welcoming. Hey ho! Anyway, this is meant to be a really good review! We had a ball, relaxed, walked, ate and drink considerably. We’d would love to come back in the summer. Hopefully the Sun will be out.

We are a family of 10, two grandparents three parents 5 grand kids 8 to 18 and Cooper our dog. We had the large suite upstairs, it was like any 5 star hotel we have stayed in. The house was always warm, shame as I wanted to light the wood burners. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked all week and never found to be short of anything. We couldn't get the wine cooler down in temp from 15 degrees but had more than enough room in the two fridges. The main room had four sofas and were very comfortable. The hot tub had very good use over the week and enjoyed by all even though I suspect it has a slight leak. We found three walks down to the coast taking only minutes. There was a lot of space. This property looked good on the website but the pictures don’t do it full justice. It’s on 3 levels and there is a lot of communal room in the kitchen, 1st floor landing area and living room for large groups to socialise. The house is well equipped and you don’t want for much in there. We had a small issue with the dishwasher but the owner was sorted this very quickly. The owner of the house also owns The Boathouse Restaurant at Red Wharf Bay, which is a 5-10 minute walk from the house, and we had a lovely evening meal there on one of the nights, and were kindly given a bottle of Prosecco, compliments of the owner, which was a nice touch. The master bedroom is stunning and so is the huge living room on the middle floor. It’s a great spot to explore Anglesey & Snowdonia from and we had a great break. We had a week in this lovely house in August and, although the weather could have been better, our whole family of 8 adults and 5 children all had a wonderful time. The spacious accommodation is spread over 3 floors, with loads of room for everyone to either gather together or to find there own space. The huge Lounge with 4 big sofas and several additional easy chairs was a great hit for full family gatherings after dinner. With it's six bedrooms, 3 bathrooms plus 2 WCs, huge kitchen/diner and loads of recreational space, plus the hot tub, this really is a fabulous house within easy reach of both Red Warfe Bay and Benllech. Just a couple of minor negatives which, although they didn't spoil it for us, could use some attention to avoid future complaints: Some hidden spaces (e.g. under the kitchen/diner sofas), could use a more thorough cleaning regime. Not enough facilities for rubbish disposal and recycling. I actually drove a car full of full bin bags to a recycling centre several miles away, only to be turned away because I am not a resident of Anglesey !! It is not ideal for small children to ride bikes as the road either side is very fast during the peak holiday periods. A little bit of fencing to the ground would making the property fully secure for small/medium dogs and infants wanting to get into the stream at the side. Otherwise would recommend highly.

The house is situated 10 minutes walk from Red Wharf Bay which at low tide goes into Benllech Beach and enables you to cross the estuary .. It is ideal for dog owners and families. A good patio with a hot tub at the end makes it ideal for family frolics ! Easy access to all parts of the island and back on to the mainland . Most enjoyable for all family ages and celebrations

  • "This property is exceptional."

We booked it for 2 nights but looking back she should have booked at least 3. The house is great for children and only 5 minutes drive from the bay. We would not recommend walking since the roads are narrow and blind in parts. The only sore point was the lack of contact from the owner. We had tried to contact her on several occasions with a few minor questions but she did not reply. This resulted in us not being able to use the wood burners as there was no wood and the number to call didnt answer either. Never the less, it didnt take much away from the experience

Really well stocked kitchen with everything that was needed for the long weekend. Bedrooms perfect for what we needed, especially the bigger of the en-suite rooms on the top floor, as where the toilet an bathroom facilities. Discovery of the playroom on the top floor was a nice surprise and the kids loved it. The (massive) lounge was ideal for everyone to relax together and watch a bit of TV on the relaxed night in we had although the TV signal isn’t the best in the lounge it was ok. Would highly recommend a stay at Nant-ur-Rhedyn for a big group the kitchen dinning area lends itself really well for a big family get together and the kitchen is extremely well stocked so cooking a big meal or big breakfast is no bother whatsoever! cracking place can’t wait to go back again for the next family celebration.

  • "The house is huge and it’s decorated to a really good standard."

There was ample space for my large extended family (8 adults and 4 children) and it was a great base to explore Anglesey from. My two main gripes would have been directions (which were poor and resulted in quite a stressful attempt to find the property) and the hot tub. The hot tub was one of the main attractions for me and my family and it really isn’t in great condition. In honesty, it needs replacing. It is clearly leaking and the levels dropped considerably over the holiday. Not only this, but it wasn’t ready upon our arrival (stone cold because they weren’t expecting us until the following day, despite us being on time for our booking) and wasn’t ready until the afternoon of day 2. Then, to make things worse, it wasn’t maintained and began to smell foisty mid week. The owner came and drained and refilled the tub to be on the safe side, but that meant it was out of action for another day of our holiday. It was a real shame because it overshadowed what could otherwise have been a great stay. we payed almost £3000, and for that amount of money I expected a better level of service. Personally, if being in the hot tub is one of your favourite things to do on your break I wouldn’t book this property.

There is so much room to get away from everyone if you need to on these family holidays :) The whole family loved it and we had a really lovely time just chilling in all the space. There was only 4 of us from Sunday evening for the rest of the week and we lived in the kitchen as it was so big and cozy. We will definitely be going back. The furnishings were lovely, all the beds are comfy, there are so many toilets and bathrooms - bliss!! Our first impressions were good however we felt like it needs a bit of TLC . It’s little things it could do with a good clean , a fair few light bulbs were out and the kitchen equipment in particular the knives need refreshing . There was no hand soap anywhere but lots of body lotion ! A guest book or a bit of a welcome letter would’ve been nice in fact it’s the first property where we didn’t meet anyone ! It’s nicely situated but it’s the first one that as a group we decided we wouldn’t revisit .

The beds and bedrooms are very comfortable and attractive . Several slabs on the stepsteps leading to the front door are loose ! ( it is not safe ), on the balcony off the main lounge there are 3 spindles that require urgent repair !! , downstairs toilet door doesn’t lock , dripping tap in the bath in the main bedroom , Several lightbulbs were out . Outside The hot tub leaks all the time therefore there is always water lying around eating area . The hot tub actually stopped working mid week , a message was sent to the owner but got no reply so we were unable to use it and that was very disappointing. I have commented on the cleanliness , the kitchen bin was disgusting and it had not been cleaned , under the sink there was lots of mouse dropping in a Brillo pad box , kitchen drawers and cupboards need a good tidying , and there is pans with broken handles and frying pans need renewed . Maybe there should be a team of cleaners in to do the work in the 5 hours change over time. Overall this beautiful house is being neglected which does spoil the holiday expectations. But we didn’t let this spoil our stay.

There were just a couple of things, firstly there really needs to be a folder in the property with instructions for all the appliances, including detailed instructions for the recycling and rubbish collection, a couple of clothes airers for a property that size would be very useful too. Lastly a guest book for comments would be nice. These little things are quite often standard in most of the properties we have stayed in before. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property for anyone looking for a large house in that area.

  • "Having just returned from a stay at this property with friends and family I can only say that this house definitely has the wow factor."

The perfect setting for a family get together with plenty of space for everyone, you don't feel like you are on top of each other at all. The property is within walking distance down to the beach where there is a lovely pub and the boathouse cafe/bar however there are no pavements so you need to be aware of traffic. If you are limited with transport, there is a bus stop located very near the property where you can get into Bangor very easily. The only thing that let the property down is that there was no welcome book, giving property and local information, a visitors book would also be nice to hear about local places that people have been to that may have been worth a visit. Most of the property was clean, however there were signs that the property had not been thoroughly gone over as there were cobwebs in the downstairs toilet and unfortunately previous guests had not properly washed up so putting your hand in a greasy tray was not the nicest. On saying this it did not detract from a wonderful break for my husbands 40th birthday and we would definitely look to book this property again.
