"Loved the cottage, great location and so lovely and light."
Very warm and cosy with everything you need. Secure garden perfect for the dog to run around and lovely places to sit out even in October. Thankyou so much, we will definitely be back.

"I have stayed here before and enjoyed it very much."
The pub is 5 minute bike ride south(downhill on way home) not far from a lovely beach where you can paddle board. There are lovely walks heading west to a rugged, untouched coastline. Or you can head towards the seaside town of Treadure for icecream and cafes. The cottage is quite private only a handful of neighbours across the field. Lots of garden with seating.
Thank you for the feedback and we hope you will choose to stay at Cerrig again! Property Owner

"We enjoyed our stay."
The beds were like home, very comfortable. Kitchen was well equiped. The large garden was great for children and dogs. I think clearer information about the walk to the beach. Roscolyn was 30mins walking on the road. There was another beach closer but not as nice.

"Cerrig is slightly improved from previous years we have been, the hot water in the kitchen issue has been broadly improved, the beds, although reportedly new mattresses, are a little firm for old bones, and my wife's chronic back problems."
Just us maybe. The rustic dining suite is querky but OK, as we are used to it now. The location is its best asset, the views are perfect

"Idyllic setting and an ideal base to tour the island."
Great garden for the children to explore. We had a very enjoyable stay.
-
"We’ve just spent the most lovely relaxing week at Cerrig and we were so lucky that we had the glorious weather too ."
This is the third time we have stayed at Cerrig , we love it ! Light and airy living room , well equipped kitchen , comfy beds and spacious gardens which are dogs love . Great walks close by with some lovely little coves to explore . A good base for exploring the north of the island .Booked again for next year ..we can’t wait .
Thank you so much for your feedback. We have just put a new mattress on every bed and upgraded all the bedding so I so glad you found the beds comfortable:)! Thank you for booking again! Property Owner

"Beautiful cottage surrounded by an amazing wild garden which is naturally enclosed."
Beautiful pond! It has to be the best equipped rental we have stayed in. Everything you would need in the kitchen. The lounge area is so light with the 4 huge windows, great views. I could live there permanently. Loved the fact it was comfortable and cosy and not sterile and perfect!...
-
"Some of the windows were dirty and we cleaned them on the second day."
Bedding tired and worn. Hot water was very temperamental. Overall a very cosy cottage.
-
"Wonderful house; so much space with everything you need for a brilliant stay."
The light in the late afternoon is breathtaking from the living room. Heating a little quirky (there’s no gas..) but no probs at all once you get the hang of it. Rhoscolyn beach is stunning , and forms part of the Anglesey costal walk. If you’re going out to eat, the local Sea Shanty and the White Eagle are excellent. Would love to return.. soon!
-
"Cerrig is a great base for exploring Holy Island and Anglesey, with great views over to the Irish sea (from upstairs)."
The accommodation is as described but furniture is a little tired and requires a little patience with cushions. But overall we are very happy with Cerrig as we have been twice this year! This time with a friend. And will be back if the price comes down a little!

"Lovely location."
The Kitchen tap Needs attention, we struggled to get hot water from it, just a trickle, also the shower was very difficult to get a regular temperature.
-
"We loved our stay at Cerrig, particularly the lovely views, and walks, but those are generalisations, the property we thought was just a little shabby but homely."
The furniture as someone else noted was not very comfy particularly the dining suite thankfully the ample cushions softened the experience. The hot water supply to the kitchen sink was a dribble, the upstairs wash basin waste is almost blocked and the windows need cleaning, but we enjoyed our stay and would come again.

"Very disappointed in this property!"
Booked previous holidays with sykescottages and been happy. This holiday was booked for my son and daughter-in-law to join us as they have worked all threw the pandemic as key workers. Carpets down stairs badly stained, no heating in bathroom and some heaters not working. Bed uncomfortable. Lounge seating disgusting! also furniture in general. Totally spoiled our treat for my family.
-
"Generally good accomodation apart from uncomfortable beds and seating in the sitting room."
Some of the bed linen was not as fresh as it could have been.Heating system dated and not all heaters worked. Despite this the cottage was in a quiet location and not too far from the beach. Also wardrobe space could be improved.Only half a wardrobe available out of 5 bedrooms!
-
"Cerrig was very pleasant and provided a lovely holiday base."
Only slight disappointment was the distance from the beach - described as a "pleasant 15 minute stroll", the best I could achieve was 25 minutes of fairly strenuous fast walking, much of it along a road. Not sure why Cerrig is advertised as 4 bedrooms when there were actually 5? It would have been helpful to have been able to contact the owner direct (once booking confirmed) to check details. Sykes phone service has an irritatingly lengthy automated pre-amble threatening long waiting times - in fact answering was quick when eventually past the auto voice mail options.
-
"Fantastically positioned , clean cottage."
We really enjoyed our stay, ideal for our dog who loved the spacious garden. A tumble dryer and sun loungers would have been brilliant!
-
"Cerrig is a lovely place to stay, it is clean, spacious and well equipped."
The ground are huge and the dogs absolutely loved exploring the gardens. There are at least 2 beaches within easy walking distance and a lovely pub a short stroll away. There is so much to explore around the area. We all had a lovely peaceful stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend .
-
"Beautiful clean, homely cottage set in a beautiful location."
A beautiful garden. Glorious coastal walks. We all had a wonderful time.
-
"Great cottage, bit further from the beach than we thought but wasn't a problem."
Well equipped. Upstairs was lovely, downstairs bedrooms could do with a refurbish as the beds weren't very comfortable.

About the location
RHOSCOLYN
Valley 2 miles; Trearddur Bay 3 miles; Holyhead 5 miles.
Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!
Note: Guests should be aware that the terraces have an uneven surface and guests need to be mindful that young children and those unsteady on their feet take extra care.
Note: Guests with young children should also note there is a small pond in the garden.
