  • "We had a wonderful week staying at the cottage, everything was brilliant, it had everything you could need, and warm & cosy."

Garden was ideal for our dog, and there were walks you could do from the house down to the coast.

  • "Loved our week at Pentre iago."

Accommodation absolutely spotless. Everything you needed was provided. Brilliant location, beach nearby and plenty of walks and the white eagle pub. Generous garden for the dogs to enjoy. Big thanks to the hosts, Peter and angela

  • "This was our second stay this year at this fabulous house."

It was spotlessly clean, very warm and comfortable with everything that you need. It has its own enclosed garden which will contain your dogs unless they are escape artists and can jump the wall, we had no problem keeping two Boxers in. Plenty of circular walks straight from the door and a 10 minute walk to the beach and The White Eagle pub which serves food all day every day. Added bonus is that the hosts live close by and are really friendly.

  • "The cottage and location were fantastic and couldn't fault it."

Everything you needed was there. Garden, although fully enclosed; great size; wasn't fully secure if you have adventurous dogs as ours could get through the bottom gate or jump the wall at the side which isn't a problem but it's worth noting if you need a fully secure garden.

  • "Excellent property."

One of the cleanest, most well organised properties I’ve stayed in. Just as I was thinking “It only needs scissors”, I found them in the utensils pot in the kitchen. Short 10 minute walk to the beach through adjoining fields. Location was superb. And the views from the double bedroom are amazing. Sat in bed with a coffee and you can see the mountains of Snowdonia/Llyn Peninsula. Would recommend. The only small drawback was the garden isn’t private - you have the footpath to the fields/beach on one side and static caravans on the other. But if this isn’t an issue for you- it’s a perfect stay.

Nothing too much trouble for the owners, they immediately fixed the gaps in the gate to prevent my tiny dogs escaping. Owners live across the way, very private but to hand if needed. Would highly recommend, thanks again x

  • "Just had a wonderful week at Pentre Iago, the cottage was well equipped and also lovely and clean."

It is a short walk to the beach and there is a very nice pub also within walking distance. There is a small friendly campsite that is also run by the lovely family who own the cottage and nothing is too much trouble. We would definitely highly recommend this property and our dogs Lulu and Sally would definitely recommend the lovely views and the short walk to the beach. Will definitely be returning to this cottage again.

  • "Beautiful house in a very quiet position."

Spotlessly clean and only 10/15 minute walk to the beach and 10 minute walk to The White Eagle pub. We were out of season so it may be a little bit busier when the camp site is open but this shouldn't affect the house. Hosts were super friendly. We didn't use the dish washer so for us the only thing missing was a washing up bowl.

  • "Lovely place and location, ideal for our dogs beach is not far and neither is the White Eagle pub."

Cottage clean well equipped nice enclosed garden. Will definitely be booking it again

  • "Excellent on hand welcoming by Peter."

Peter said to call him if any issues or queries. We had a lovely comfortable stay in the house. Kitchen and facilities were excellent. House was warm and shower was good. Beds comfortable Weather was good last day was flooding but no issues Excellent access to the Anglesey coastal path. We walked to Trearddur bay and back. Excellent secure garden for the dog. The White Eagle pub was within walking distance expensive but good for a one off treat… would advise to book if visiting. We didn't get a takeaway not sure if the Chinese delivers. Waitrose delivery in this area was good. Amazon deliver as well as my walking boots were knackered We went to walk to Valley as well and would advise a torch as walked on the road but accessed costal path from four mile bridge. We went to south stack which was unfortunately shut but the RSPB cafe was nice. First time staying this side of the island and was impressed.

  • "Cottage had everything we needed although my husband would have liked a mirror by the sink for shaving."

(not a big problem). We had a small dog who could get through the bars of the main gate. It would be fine for larger dogs. Lovely walk across the fields and down the lane to Borthwen beach. We also enjoyed Penrhos country park just outside Valley on the Holyhead road.

  • "It is a wonderful place."

Lovely sized garden for the dogs and close to some wonderful beaches. The owner and his wife were very friendly and greeted us on arrival and told us if we needed anything to let them know. The House was immaculate well appointed and had everything you could possibly need for your stay. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly. We had a marvellous week and will go back. 5 stars well deserved.

Location is excellent, with walks to quiet beaches and wonderful views. White Eagle pub is a must, and Sea Shanty in Trearddur Bay also great. Our dog loved the garden and beaches. High speed internet was a bonus for us, as was the smart TV. A quiet and relaxing spot to explore the coast.

  • "We have had a wonderful holiday, both the house & location were perfect."

So peaceful we couldn’t hear anything but bird’s singing & there were lots of empty beaches. The garden was perfect for the dog & just a short walk to the beach. Lovely views from the bedroom window we could see the sea & on a clear day you could see the mountains in the distance. We would definitely go again to the same cottage.

  • "The cottage is immaculate, comfortable and cosy with everything you need for a holiday."

It's within walking distance of a beautiful beach and the coastal walks are stunning. There is also a pub within walking distance serving excellent food. Our dogs loved the garden. Hosts are nearby and able to deal with any issues promptly, they were friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic week and would love to return in the future.

  • "Make more of the stunning main bedroom view in the listing!"

Could do with a cafetiere. For families/full house a dishwasher and more plates/cultlery might be better (plenty of room in the kitchen) but no real complaints. Garden not secure for dogs that will try to escape (low wall/drive gate has lots of space to get through). Otherwise wonderful place. Very clean. Ability to walk to beach and pub and coastal path fabulous. Solid wifi in a remote place was a bonus. SatNav tries to take you to Silversands, just need to say turn in to Pentre Iago campsite off main road in directions, don't go off up lane to left! Have recommended to family. We had a great stay.

  • "Had a lovely stay at Pentre Iago."

House was as expected from the listing with great communication with the owners who lived nearby. They were very helpful and polite and were extremely approachable. For future guests it would be helpful to give advice on how to tackle the locking of the front and back doors, there is a knack to it. This applies to the upstairs toilet that seems to like flushing itself continuously if not careful. Also, maybe mention to guests on arrival about not switching off the wi-fi if their siblings have been trained to switch off electrical items. Ours were efficient and the shop then could not take card payments. A really enjoyable stay- thank you.

    Mr Stewart GeorgeJul 2022

  • "Lovely location only a 10-15 minute dog friendly walk through the owners fields and down a quiet lane to a beautiful quiet beach."

Rear garden is enclosed but the stone wall is quite low in places and our large dog could have jumped over it easily enough. The property was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, lovely sea view from double bedroom. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "We had a fabulous stay, the cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable with everything we could possibly need for the week."

The views from the bedroom window, and surrounding countryside are stunning. Thank you to the host for letting us stay, we all had a wonderful holiday, the area is beautiful and the cottage was the perfect place to stay, plenty of space indoors and out for a family and cosy and warm on rainy days. I loved that you could go through the back gate and were straight into the most beautiful countryside and the beach was not far away. The host was helpful, friendly and approachable. We had a great time and hope to return soon.

Close to beach and a pub walking distance away. Enclosed garden, safe in the knowledge that pets are secure. Loved it. Tea bags, coffee and biscuits were supplied which was very nice.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Pentre lago."

The cottage was impeccably clean, with everyday comfort for all our needs. The sofas were particularly comfy after a long walk! Perfectly situated if you have a dog as it opens up at the back onto a field and a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed many hikes, inland and on the coast without having to travel by car, a bonus! Overall a lovely rest, just what we needed. Thank you

About the location

RHOSCOLYN

Valley 2 miles; Trearddur Bay 3 miles; Holyhead 5 miles.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!
