  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Tan Twr."

It is very homely welcoming cottage and always toasty when we came back from our excursions. The view from the lounge is glorious. During our stay we saw Buzzards, Kestrels, glimpsed a Red Squirrel and heard Tawny Owls.

Very nice and very helpful owners. We were easily able to go by car to many places of interest in a short distance. Everything was perfect for us including a beautiful week weather wise which highlighted the mountains. All in all we were very glad we picked the ideal cottage for us and certainly would return.

  • "On this occasion I am sad to say I will not be going back or recommending."

Constant damp smell. Wall has damp and bedsheet. Our 13.5 month old was far too big for the new born size cot. Health and safety risk. We end up putting her on the makeshift mattress on floor due to safety. Did not want to put her in an actual bed as she may fall out. We were accused of taking two towels before we even got home. Second time of an accusation as last time was accused of stealing remote control, ironically we were called back to say they found control. On the last night we were reminded in a not so professional manner that a two year old can not stay in a cot….. yes am aware. It’s a shame and I had wished we could have had a better experience as we will be going back to Anglesey but else where to stay.

Many thanks for your feedback, we are sorry that you didn't find your stay totally to your approval. We do enjoy meeting the guests when they are staying in the cottage as it gives us an opportunity to tell them that if there are any issues or problems not to hesitate to let us know so we can try to resolve them as quickly as possible so that they can enjoy their stay. We appreciate your comments about the damp and as a result we have investigated this. The travel cot that we have is a standard size, Menai have an emergency cot available, also standard size when needed. Property Owner

This time has been no different. An excellent and well maintained cottage within the private estate of beautiful farmland. There are stunning views from the lounge and main bedroom of the Snowdonia mountain range. Tan Twr is perfectly positioned to explore either sides of the Isle of Anglesey. The owners are very pleasant and close to hand if you need them, but leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. A minor criticism is that the mattress in the main bedroom maybe getting ready for replacement, but this did not stop us from having an amazing week. Thank you.

Plenty of room for the 2 of us and our dogs. Property was well presented and clean, kitchen had a full size under counter fridge and separate freezer which is a bonus. From the cottage there were great walks across fields and beaches ranging from 30 mins to 4hrs+ meaning little use of the car. It was around 3 miles to a shop / pub / takeaway which was good. Great views from the lounge & bedroom of Snowdonia and a good sized enclosed garden with furniture. Would definitely recommend.

  • "We had the best UK holiday at Tan Twr than we’ve had in years and have already booked to go back there next year."

Hilary and Mike are lovely friendly people as is their gorgeous dog Paddy, they stop and chat on passing, leaving you to enjoy your stay but are readily available to help if anything is needed. The location is so quiet, all we could hear was nature in both the day and night. Even the nearest “main” road has hardly any traffic on it. The extensive views from the cottage towards Snowdonia are simply beautiful and were really interesting to study through binoculars. Often there was dramatic cloud clinging over them yet the sky above Anglesey was blue and clear. The cottage was super clean, spacious and light and airy, with comfortable furniture. it has basic equipment but we managed fine. The dual aspect windows in the lounge made us happy to stay inside and chill on the hot days, meaning that we really felt that we were on holiday (previously we’ve stayed in dark cottages with small windows which make me feel too enclosed). Our two boisterous collie dogs loved it there too. After all the beach and forest walks, they were suitably worn out on every evening yet we’d drag them back out for 10pm beach walks which is a lovely treat in June. We simply can’t wait to go back. I will list below the extras that we will bring next year to make our stay perfect: Collapsible camping chairs to take out with us and use in the garden (the cottage has a wooden table and chairs only) Garden parasol (as I have a big estate car) Lightweight single duvet (I’m at that age lol) Steak knives My Chef’s knife- there are knives there but I missed my super sharp large one Coat hangers (extra needed for my clothes I think about 12 are provided) Glass pan lids (probably just me as I’m not used to solid lids or ceramic hobs, I kelp losing heat lifting to check) We’re looking forward to exploring the rest of the island next time. We were amazed at how gorgeous the island is as we’d only visited specific places previously or quickly passed through heading for the port for a trip to Ireland. It’s a bit like Cornwall but calmer, both inland and on the coast but without the hoards of visitors, travel is really easy and nowhere is far away. Thank you Hilary and Mike, we are so glad that we came and will see you again soon

What was particularly worrying strong smell of damp in the twin bedroom and the large pool of water discovered on the inside of the window sill. We acknowledged that there was heavy rain however needless to say this is unacceptable. The owner of the cottage was welcoming but our whole experience resulted in us returning home early .

It is a shame that your stay coincided with some of the very worst winter weather we have seen in quite some time. We are sorry to hear that you found the cottage basic and uncomfortable, it has not been noted before but we will look into it during our planned maintenance later this month. • "Beautifully located, friendly host, could be an ideal get-away break - but a cottage which clearly has damp problems should not be on the holiday letting market."

We left a night early as damp in the back room was unbearable and affecting sleep [and health?] I think the owners are resting on their laurels somewhat and are ignoring the rather damp elephant in the room [which can't be masked by any number of hidden scented joysticks from Zara Home!!!]

I am so sorry that you did not get in touch with us during your stay to let us know you were having difficulties!  Had we known we could have come to see you to assess the problem and potentially move you if you were not comfortable.  We provide all our guests with our office line and an emergency out of hours number so that you can contact us at any time.  We have since inspected the Farm Cottage and not found any evidence of damp, but we would have liked the opportunity to do that whilst you were there so that you could show us any problem areas. We hope you visit North Wales again very soon and please keep in mind that we are always here to help you!  Property Owner
