About the location

TREGARTH

Bangor 5 miles.

Tregarth is a traditional Welsh village, originating from the slate mining industry but now a friendly village with a traditional pub and active village community centre. The old railway tracks for the mines have been closed and converted into cycle paths as part of the 250-mile Lon Las Cymru network from Cardiff to Holyhead, which winds its way through the Nant Francon Pass alongside the Ogwen river to Llyn Owen. Two miles away is Bethesda, a small town on the River Ogwen in North Wales with a number of shops, chapels and pubs. The coastal city of Bangor is six miles away and is best known for its university. Bangor also has a harbour and is close to the Thomas Telford-designed Menai Suspension Bridge which links the mainland to the Isle of Anglesey. South of Tregarth is the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park with its stunning mountain walks, breathtaking scenery and many towns and villages. Capel Curig is a popular centre for walking, climbing and mountain biking whilst Llanberis is situated at the foot of Mount Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and is home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the National Slate Museum and the High Ropes activity centre.
