  • "Superb property to stay in, very well equipped, comfortable and it was ideal to have an EV charger available to use - this enabled us to have our whole holiday without needing to factor in a visit to a public charging station, so many thanks for this, it is a key differentiating factor for us."

It's very comfortable and well-presented with everything we needed. There were a few issues with the heating/hot water, but the owner soon sorted it. We had a super 4 days there and will definitely be back.

Only minor issue was the fact there was only one shower. Narrow roads on the approach too and from the cottage could be a bit tricky at times. Double beds were on small side but not an issue for us as not booked for full capacity - just to highlight for others considering. Got to meet Tony in the orchard and pinch and apple or two

  • "On the whole a comfortable holiday."

some decoration needs, Mattresses on double beds not particularly comfortable and pillows in need of changing. Warm and spacious, sufficient equipment well appointed bathrooms and kitchen, large tv. Very narrow roads sometimes with long distances between passing areas. Not within walking distance of any amenities. Red Wharf Bay excellent beach.

  • "Stayed in the cottage for a week."

Very pleased and accurate pictures / description on website. Owner was helpful when the hot water failed on 2 days. Cottage is well presented and kitted out. Loved the recliner sofa. Minor issues such as the top bedroom door not being able to fully close and also very warm at night compared to lower bedrooms. Garden is okay. No sun in evening and a little unloved. Anglesey is beautiful especially Beaumaris. None of the above would prevent us recommending or staying again.

Thank you for your comments. It's true that the garden could do with a bit of maintenance, but most of the area is deliberately left as wild long grass to allow wildflowers to grow. Paths and areas to sit and to picnic are mowed. Hope to see you again Tony & Sue Property Owner

  • "We had such a grand time in Ty Gwennol!"

Everything is close enough to drive to, but it's still quite enough to relax and unwind. The orchard is beautiful in the sun and a great spot to read a book. The friendly cat "shadow" is also a great addition to the orchard.  The house has a beautiful interior ! The interior is really cosy, and you can just feel right at home. The kitchen has everything that's needed to have a good night in, cook for yourself. On the nights you would rather eat out, there is a pub you can walk to.  We were so happy here that we already planned our next stay in Ty Gwennol!

  • "Lovely cottage , the one issue we had was the unusual recorded noise which came from the barn right next door every night and kept us awake ."

Very odd , don’t know what it was but very annoying .

Very sorry to hear about your noise problem. No-one else has experienced this to our knowledge. In a rural area you do get a lot of noise which you may not be used to, e.g. from animals and tractors. It has been good weather recently and there has been a lot of activity mowing hay, which can go on late in the evening while it is still light, or even in the dark. Could be a tractor in the distance...? We hope it did not affect your stay too much. Tony & Sue Property Owner

That was a treat. There is room for a nice big dining table too. Lots of lovely places nearby. Beaumaris. Llanddona beach is gorgeous and so clean. Plas Cadnant Hidden gardens is just outside Beaumaris and well worth a visit. A big thank you to Tony for his kindness. This property is totally recommended. It’s fab! L & D

No complaints at all, a very quiet location with plenty of birdlife round and about the barn.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We have woodpeckers , jays, crows, the occasional sparrow hawk, buzzards, but the curlews no longer seem to call by. We also have red squirrels coming to the garden and recently fox cubs in our wildlife areas, as well as hares in the fields opposite Ty Gwennol. We are also developing a wildflower meadow to which guests have access. Tony & Sue Property Owner

  • "Lovely Converted Barn The property is in a very rural and quiet setting."

The furnishings and finish are to a high standard. The lounge and kitchen are very thoughtfully laid out, and the settee being the best we have encountered in a rental property. It is worth mentioning that the electrically adjustable end's of the settee were a great addition. All of the usual everyday requirements are provided in the kitchen area, and we cooked several meals without any issues. The heating is underfloor and cannot be adjusted at a timed 20 degrees. There is a small oil filled electric heater with can be used for top up, as there is no fireplace. The bedrooms are tastefully finished, but small apart from the twin room. We were unsure if the comfortable double beds were small doubles! The twin room would benefit from wall light switch's so you do not have to get out of bed to turn the lights off. The En-suite is a toilet and sink only, with one bath-shower room for the whole property. In addition to the property, there is an orchard and barbecue for the use of guests. We were unable to use this facility due to the weather, but it would be lovely in the summer. There were a few niggles. No welcome pack was provided, no hooks to bedroom or bathroom doors to hang bathrobes and towels etc. The rear bedroom widows look out to a farm yard with farm machinery. On arrival generally, you are only allowed to use the property driveway to unload and load, parking is in a parking area at the end of the drive. If you wish to use the electric charger for the car, please note that this is at an additional cost. However, these issues would not prevent us from rebooking the property again. For eating out we would recommend The Boathouse in Red Wharf Bay, and Ann's Pantry in Moelfe and Beaumaris for fish and chips. Overall, we would recommend the property.

Thanks for the detailed comments. Any comments which help us to improve are welcome. Regarding the heating: Heating is via an air source heat pump and under floor heating. This is energy efficient and eco friendly but is very slow to respond to requests to increase or decrease temperatures. There are thermostatic controls in each room which give some limited control but we have found that maintaining a more or less even temperature ( by e.g. resetting thermostats automatically overnight) avoids most problems and provides the best overall comfort. Double beds are full doubles, but not king or queen size. There were Welsh cakes and milk in the fridge provided as a "Welcome pack", as well as supplies of cleaning equipment and materials, as well as tea, ground coffee etc. We realise this is minimal for a welcome pack but we believe it saves waste. Point taken about the hooks etc. We will remedy this. There are towel rails and rings in all bathrooms. Sorry about the view of the farm machinery etc. This belongs to our neighbour so we have limited control over this. Yes, we prefer to discourage use of the front yard for parking due to limited space to turn and get access to barns etc. The Ty Gwennol car park entrance is only a few feet from the yard entrance though. Yes, we charge for electric vehicle charging, but primarily to cover the costs of providing this facility. The rate charged is cheaper than all other public chargers on this side of the island. Hope to see you again, hopefully with some of the above issues sorted out! Tony & Sue Property Owner

The description of the property was very accurate and everything was exactly as shown in the photographs. Loved the way the property had been furnished and the little additions such as old woodworking planes etc in the rafters were a very nice touch. Shame we couldn't guarantee the weather which was atrocious but we would definitely consider this for future breaks in the summer. The extra touches of milk in the fridge and Welsh cakes on the table for our arrival were most welcome.

Furnishings and fittings were to a high standard and the property looked exactly like the pictures. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and we were invited to make use of the orchard and help ourselves to the apples growing there. The property is in a rural location but is only a short drive away from Beaumaris and the Menai bridge. Well situated for exploring the island. Having 2 ensuite toilets was great since we were a group of 5. The property could probably benefit from having a 2nd shower since it has 3 bedrooms but this definitely wouldn’t detract me from returning to this accommodation.

The oak beams in the roof are very striking and give this upside down house a very open feel. Bedding is very comfortable and the kitchen facilities very adequate for self catering. The property is well hidden in the countryside but only 1 minutes drive from the nearest village. There is virtually no traffic noise due to the secluded situation. I would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to spend time in Anglesey.

  • "The property was fantastic, we really enjoyed our stay there, and would definitely recommend it to anybody."

Pretty much everything you need is provided, and the property was spotlessly clean, comfortable, with ample space. It's set in quite a rural area of Anglesey, but still not too far from essential amenities, supermarkets and a lovely quiet beach at Llanddona. The use of the owners garden for BBQ's and to hang out your washing was a nice touch too. We didn't need to contact the owners for anything while we were there, but the interactions we did have with them, we found them to be a really lovely couple, and very friendly. The only thing I would say is needed, and this is me being really pedantic, is either frosted/obscured glass in the bathroom window, or a blind for privacy, especially as the bathroom is on the ground floor. But overall a superb property, in a beautiful part of the country.

We are glad that you enjoyed Ty Gwennol and the orchard garden. Just to clarify - the orchard garden with BBQ is private and for the exclusive use of guests and is separate from the owners garden nearby. The bathroom window is high up but we appreciate your comments and will arrange to have it frosted or obscured as soon as possible. Tony & Sue Property Owner

The property is a great base for exploring Angelsey and north Wales. We had a day when the weather was dreadful but we were able to enjoy the day still with access to Netflix and other platforms which are not standard in other properties we have holidayed in. Tony and Sue are the owners and are there on hand if any help is required. We didn’t need anything as a useful guide for all the appliances etc was available in the barn. About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
