Beautiful location with stunning views and plenty of walking and wildlife on the doorstep. Estate grounds are beautiful that we were privileged to have access to. Will hopefully be back soon. "Fabulous cottage in a great location overlooking the Sea Loch with access to the beach."
The cottage is very comfy and is so relaxing. There are lots of historical places to visit in the area like Dunadd Fort and Glenmartin. Crinnan is very interesting to visit being the start of The Crinnan Canal.

"Lovely cottage in a peaceful location."
Facilities very good and nothing is any trouble to Jo and Paul to ensure your stay is comfortable. A very dedicated and pleasant couple. Tarbert is close by if you require food and a trip to both Oban and Campbeltown is a must. Skipness is a lovely place with a small castle and the views are stunning all around this area of Scotland.

"Absolutely perfect."
Everything you need for a truly comfortable stay is provided whilst being in the most beautiful surroundings with a breathtaking view. Jo & Paul are so very friendly and welcoming, freshly baked scones for our arrival, thankyou Jo. Stunning forest walks around the estate, stroll along the Loch shores so relaxing. Visited Tarbert, Campbelltown, Lochgilphead and the Beaver trail. Had great weather for October. Would definitely recommend for a complete relaxing quiet break. Nothing to complain about. Jo & Paul the best hosts, not forgetting the gorgeous Brutus who is adorable. Our pooch Absolutely loved it. 10/10

Such peace and tranquility and for the me the plus of being able to leave the cottage and swim in minutes! The stile could probaby do with securing a little as very wobbly!

"A well maintained cottage, tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything you need."
The welcome homemade scones when we arrived was a nice added touch. Our furry friends weren't forgotten about either with additional towels provided if they took a swim in the Loch. Surrounding area was great to explore from the walled gardens, shoreline to the woods. Tarbert itself is great with magnificent views from Tarbert Castle and the Isle of Gigha is well worth a visit or a gentle stroll along the Crinan Canel. 'The Gather' is also a lovely place to eat out for lunch or even breakfast. Will most certainly be rebooking

"Everything was fine with the property and we had a lovely stay."
There was an issue with the WiFi not working on any of our devices. The property manager did all he could to address the issue and swapped routers, which did help, but the signal was still intermittent and only worked on a laptop.
I understand it is a satellite WiFi connection that doesn't always work on smart phone devices. Perhaps this should be mentioned in the property description because we didn't receive a 4G signal on our phones either?

"Achaglachgach, however difficult to pronounce, is a lovely, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a very peaceful location."
The generous electric heating kept the cottage warm on some still cool, Spring evenings, without needing to resort to the wood-burning stove. There are lovely walks along forest and farm tracks straight out the door. We quickly got used to the five mile drive on the single track road to the cottage from Tarbert. Beyond, there are so many lovely places to visit we could easily have stayed longer.

"We first visited this cottage 25 years ago, it’s changed a bit since then, for the better!"
The area is still stunning and lots of off the beaten track places to explore. All the usual highlights visited and the dogs loved the secluded beaches. Mull of Kintyre beach well worth a visit especially for ‘GRIP’ if you are an Anthony Gormley fan.

Paul and Jo very helpful in sorting problems. Can recommend Seafood Cabin at Skipness, The Gather in Tarbert, Knapdale Forest and West Port Beach, excellent for surfers and dogs to visit. Arduaine Gardens were excellent. The colours of the azaleas and rhododendrons were magnificent.

"Lovely welcome of home baking to set off what has been a wonderful week in a warm and comfortable cottage, in every way."
We would recommend the passenger ferry to Gigha and the interesting Achamore Gardens. We also took the car over to Arran and visited many beaches and villages on the circuit road. Lochranza is interesting as is the distillery and brewery. More locally there is a walk around Ardpatrick, just a few kilometres up the road, which was a 6 km walk. Beaches and woodland, really peaceful. On our last day we found two short walks in Tarbert and enjoyed fish and chips by the harbour for lunch in-between. Thankyou Paul and Jo for maintaining such a lovely cottage.

"What a truly wonderful week we have had at this cottage."
The weather could not have been better. Jo and Paul were fantastic at ironing out any minor issues quickly and cheerily. The scones on entry were just perfect after a long car journey. Would highly recommend the Starfish Restaurant, Tarbert, though you need to book. The beach at Loch Stornoway is stunning, great for paddleboarding. Café Codora is also great. The walk up to Tarbert castle gives you great views. The Cottage is so comfortable and warm, with great views. All superb!

Day trip to Arran as foot passengers. Trip to Gigha and an amazing lunch at The Boathouse (although you need to book well in advance) Ate so well this week. "Great cottage with everything you need."
Best activity highlights were – Torinturk circular walk, lovely path through the forest. Isle of Gigha, drove to the very far north of the island. Great views and a white sandy beach. Skipness and the Seafood Cabin on a nice stretch of the Kintyre Way. White shore at Tarbert, deserted beach on the opposite side of the bay to the castle. Crinan Canal and Kilmartin Burial Cairns plus swim in Loch Choille’Bhar on the way home. Ormsary Beach and Stonefield castle Hotel worth a stroll, lovely grounds.

"Perfect cottage!"
We had a lovely holiday helped by the perfect weather. Highlights were – Drives around the Kintyre Peninsular with long walks along West Port Beach n.b. Dotty’s Café at Carradale is a good stopping point. Ferry to Gigha and the garden. Crinan Canal for a walk and excellent seafood at the hotel. Walk at Loch Choillie’Bar on the road to Tayvallich. Lots of nice local walks including a walk to Ardpatrick Point. Great food at Skipness Castle and the Starfish in Tarbert.

"Awesome return to the Cottage."
Lots of wildlife to see, deer, seals, cormorants, butterflies and the obligatory wasp or midgie! The best weather we could have hoped for and beautifully still water for our adventures in paddle boarding and sea kayaking. Great views from Tarbert Castle and lovely meeting it’s very friendly sheep. Day trips to Springbank Distillery and excellent food from Kilberry Inn, Starfish and the Anchorage, Tarbert.

"We've just returned reluctantly from Achaglachgach Cottage until our next LHH fix!"
This snug little cottage sits pride of place in front of West Loch Tarbet, where some mornings we had prolonged views of otter feeding amidst the seaweed. It's a nature lovers paradise with barn and tawny owls spotted nearby and red, roe and sika deer all on the road to Kilberry. Waking up to the sound of the sea is always a joy and our children spent hours sorting through shells on the beach and bringing them home to identify. Birds buoyed in the sea; lots of divers, Red and black throated, and ducks and seals were watching us back. There are lots of scenic walks right from the door but further afield there is a wealth of places to explore. We enjoyed looking for beavers at Knapdale, seeing the standing stones and the museum of ancient culture at Kilmartin. We rode a rib (a bit of a drive away) at Seil Island, and spotted peregrine and golden eagles alongside wild goats and deer. The weather was changeable but we're waterproof and even in the rain the loch was alive and beautiful to look out on to. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and made a great practical base for our family and dog. We were greeted with homemade treats from the housekeeper who had left an inviting, clean and cared for cottage for us to enjoy. The cottage is located down a peaceful single track road which within fifteen minutes takes you to the bustling little fishing village of Tarbet, complete with a well stocked supermarket, butchers, galleries, gift shops, pubs and cafes. The larger Stable House next door and Gate House are close by and can also be booked through LHH. We've stayed in the larger house before with friends and it was also beautiful, but despite their close proximity, we didn't feel overlooked or interrupted. They could all be booked together for larger family groups. If the site of the sea and a cosy cottage and coal fire float your boat, then we'd highly recommend Achaglachgach Cottage. We loved it.

"Would just like to say, how lovely the cottage was."
It was so clean and comfortable. The housekeeper had been in prior to our arrival and the heating was already on so the welcome was really homely. The view was beautiful and we really enjoyed walking through the grounds. We would recommend the cottage to anyone and found it a real home from home.
We would also like to commend your company. This is the second time we have booked through yourselves and both times the cottages have been perfect. You obviously take great care in selecting who you represent. We made the mistake of booking through another Scottish cottage company last year and it was a disaster. We will certainly be coming back to you again next time.

The loch is perfect for kayaking and there is also a popular cycle route along the Crinan Canal nearby.
The adjoining woodlands are rich with wild and bird life and are popular with animal enthusiasts who can walk for miles taking in the region’s flora and fauna.
Tarbert village is a short drive and a little further afield, visitors are able to sail to islands such as Ghigha and Jura.

TARBERT
Lochgilphead 14 miles.
Built around an inlet on Loch Fyne, Tarbert has long been both a harbour and a key strategic point in the history of Scotland's rugged West Coast. Tarbert once required three castles to protect it, and the ruins of one of these can still be visited today. Built around the natural harbour, fishing and sailing continue to play an important part in the life of the village. There are many annual events to interest all tastes including the sailing regatta on Loch Fyne, seafood and music festivals. The 87 mile Kintyre Way stretches from Tarbert to the south of the Kintyre Peninsula, and offers walking for all levels and with ferry connections to Islay and Arran, there is simply no better location to relax and explore this rugged and picturesque part of Scotland.
