• "Excellent stay, beautiful house and so cosy."

  The pictures listed don’t do this house justice, we were blown away. Just a top tip if you’re following satnav to find the stables, input the name of the house and not the postcode. The postcode radius spans a long way and doesn’t take you to the stables. Ahead of our stay I tried calling the owner a few times and on the day of arrival too, the mobile/landline listed isn’t a great way of communicating with the owners as no messages picked up or call backs either which was frustrating. Email seems best, but obviously not very quick. House super spacious and always warm too.

• "It's a lovely big stone barn down a long single track lane and you get what you'd expect in a beautiful rural location."

  We got good signal on EE. We are a family of x5 and we really enjoyed our stay. Visited the Mull of Kintyre, Isle of Arran, and the Isle of Gigh. We were situated nicely to get up to Oban and Mull but didn't have time. Don't bother with the takeaways as they're terrible. If you're going to eat out then actually go out to eat.

• "For a house that takes ten, we felt having only 2 showers was really limiting."

  We had 6 guests upstairs who all had to share one shower (the other downstairs shower had to be exclusively for my elderly parents ) as the other room only had a bath. This was really frustrating of a morning. We also felt the kitchen was lacking an extra fridge as again, for a party of ten, we had a huge amount of food and drinks that just wouldn't fit in the one fridge (we knew how remote the house was so brought food to last the week). The kitchen area was enormous and had plenty of space to accommodate some more storage and an extra wee fridge. The fridge door didn't shut very well and the freezer was overly frosted when we arrived therefore the door also was troublesome so just a few wee maintenance issues. Finally there was no washing drying facility other than the tumble drier. The clothes horse was on its last legs and there was no outside line which, when travelling with paddle boards & water sports was desperately lacking. We bought a line and pegs to dry wet suits, towels etc as we didn't want to waste energy using the drier (& wet suits can't go in obviously). The lack of lamps in the living area made the space quite cold and cavernous of an evening. Stunning property, lovely and clean but just a wee bit lacking comforts and amenities.

• "The Stables is a very comfortable and well equipped house particular suited to large families or groups ."

  The only thing that lets it down is the lack of internet which did not work during our stay. In this day and age I would have thought it easy to install reliable satellite internet. You need to be aware that there is absolutely no flexibility on early arrivals , we arrived 30 mins early and the managers made us wait outside until just before 4pm despite the house ready

• "An extremely comfortable cottage, beautifully decorated and with all the facilities we needed."

  The underfloor heating worked a treat, the kitchen was kitted out so well for a big group and the living room space spot on. The garden space was great for ball games and the surrounding walks and Loch access were fantastic. We were on a three generations holiday so some feedback that could improve things. The door handles were v stiff and meant one of our party got trapped a couple of times. The teens thought the wifi was too slow and suggested a booster could improve that. All of us found the filter taste in the tap water meant it was undrinkable. We know it can be difficult to adjust filters with all the necessary regulations. We ended up sourcing drinking water from the harbour outdoor tap at Tarbert most days.

• "Achaglachgach stables was a Great place for a large family to stay in one place."

  The large living areas were good for socialising and kids playing. We were a bit disappointed that trickle charging electric cars became an issue with the owners. The listing said nothing of not charging when we booked and the contract also did not mention this. We used extension cables that were suitably rated, had a waterproof outdoor socket and included inbuilt RCD protection to prevent overheating or a fault. We were told that the house insurance doesn't cover charging EV's, which is a bit strange but I would suggest looking at changing this as more people look to use EV's and the most convenient time to charge is at the house overnight. Businesses are also able to claim a grant for a dedicated EV charger. I see that the listing now says that electricity does not cover electric cars. It would be good to know if the concern is cost or the previously mentioned house insurance and make this clear to guests. Fully charging an EV from home electricity costs about £12-15 which is a small percentage of the overall costs of the rental.

• "We all had an enjoyable visit."

  Can highly recommend The Anchorage Inn Bistro, very cosy, great service and the food is excellent. Marine Bistro Indian takeaway also good. Red Door Café for their home bakes and The Deli for their fab rolls, thanks.

• "What a fabulous week!"

  The weather for the most part was like being in the Caribbean! Fabulous food at Skipness, The Starfish and Kilberry Inn. A’Chliet is the best beach by far. Also enjoyed a lovely ferry ride and wander around Gigha. We will be back! The house was beautifully clean, with lovely extra touches. Thank you very much!

• "A wonderful two weeks."

  On arrival the house was immaculate with so much space for us all. The fresh bread and scones were yummy, very much appreciated. We have walked locally in Crinan, Tarbert Castle circular, Ardcastle Wood and Dalavich woods. If you fancy a challenge two of us climbed Ben Lui (wouldn’t recommend it though!) We loved Inveraray Castle, ferry trip to Gigha, West Port Beach (choose a sunny day!) and Skipness. Would highly recommend Kintail Bird Experience, superb! Jo and Paul couldn’t be nicer or more welcoming. We have loved every second of our stay and would love to come back. Thank you!

• "We had a lovely break in this great house."

  Jo gave us a very warm welcome and some lovely home made bread and scones and was friendly and on hand if we needed here. We did once to help adjust the heating but once that had been done it was a pleasant warm house. Very clean and well equipped for our party of three but it s obviously a house which would have taken many more and we thought the seating in the sitting room would have been a bit limited for the number the house slept - two sofas at the fire and no other armchairs or seats seemed slightly odd. lovely part of the world and we would very happily return to Achaglachgach Stables. thanks

• "Three generations of our family just spent a week in the Stables."

  We have family connections as our Grandfather used to look after the estate grounds, and lived in the white cottage beside the Stables. We spent many many happy holidays in the cottage as children. We had a fantastic week reliving old memories and exploring the grounds. The Stables themselves have been renovated to an extremely high standard. We could remember the old layout and found ourselves thinking about how many years the Stables had been lying under utilised. The re-purposing is a total success. The Geo-thermal heating works incredibly well, and we all felt extremely comfortable throughout our stay. The fixtures and fittings are all of a very high standard and we found ourselves wanting for nothing. Would not hesitate to recommend this completely to large family groups looking for a perfect location for a relaxing break.

• "We stayed for a week at the end of May, 5 adults, 5 children and our dog."

  This is a great house in a truly beautiful location. The house is very spacious, light and stylishly furnished, yet comfortable. Lovely beach nearby to explore, all the kids in our group loved looking for shells. Great walking locally. Tarbert is a short drive away with great restaurants and fresh shellfish available to buy. We really enjoyed our week and would definitely recommend it to others.
