  • "Mars Hill Lower exceeded our expectations as soon as we walked through the door."

Clean and inviting, the views are stunning from all the front windows, just sitting and viewing is so relaxing. Yes the drive is very steep but it certainly keeps you fit. Overall a lovely property and well located for Dunoon and the surrounding areas.

  • "Getting there was steep, but rewarding."

The view was stunning. The caretaker really made our stay, very friendly and informative. Upstairs neighbours (Mars Hill Upper) can be a bit noisy. We really enjoyed it!

thank you for your comments I am pleased you enjoyed your stay We don't normally have problems with noise so please do let me know if you are there again and are disturbed by anyone upstairs Property Owner

It was very well equipped, stylish and comfortable. Not to mention the amazing view which really made our holiday. Thanks to Shaun for his eagerness to help and his recommendations of places to visit. We would highly recommend.

  • "There was an issue with the combi boiler."

My husband had to continually reset it or there was no hot water. This aside it is a beautiful property, very tastefully refurbed and decorated. The bed, seating is very comfortable and the shower brilliant, very powerful. The drive is a bit of a challenge, so much so we left the car on the road below but the views more than made up for it. Worth noting though it is not for anyone with mobility problems if your car is on the road. The drive is extremely steep and would pose difficult to navigate on foot.

thank you for your comments The boilers for both properties were replaced last summer 2023 so they really should not be giving any problems so thank you for letting me know. I will definitely ask the plumber who installed them to come back and have a look at why it is needing to be reset Property Owner

  • "We've stayed in a few holiday lets in Dunoon over the past four years and this was a lovely place to stay with panoramic views across the West Bay."

We immediately felt at home and the views were stunning. We stayed for a week and had a great time. Beds were very comfy with lovely bedlinen and it was warm and clean on arrival.Big spacious rooms so it was lovely to have a good central heating system when needed! The shower was great with good pressure. We loved it there and would book again in a heartbeat. Only points we would make are that the drive is very steep though which may impact on other guests who are less mobile or who are less confident about driving up and down it. We also noticed there was no grill pan or oven trays in the kitchen.A few garden chairs or a bench outside the front door would be a bonus too. These were minor issues for us as we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Can recommend and we will be back!

so pleased you enjoyed your stay. it is still relatively new as a holiday let so i will get the grill pans/ oven trays ordered so the kitchen has everything looking forward to welcoming you back again Property Owner

  • "Cottage is lovely."

Pricing is a tad unclear and seems to change with the wind. Book direct with the owner if you can as this site charges you a booking fee while other sites don't. They also charge you when you extend.

  • "The property is lovely however there are a few issues with the finishes, internal doors are unfinished and rough/split, the garden space is full of debris and cannot be used."

The driveway is far too steep and this isn't mentioned in the listing, we resorted to parking on the road.

  • "Absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Mars Hill Lower."

As soon as we entered this place we straight away loved it. Deco is lovely. Furniture is lovely….We loved the four posted bed!! But the only fault we found was the , Dining room is too far from the kitchen. Breath taking views !! Unfortunately we won’t be back as there’s not much to do there or any shops!! But we miss the house we stayed in.

thank you for your kind words. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. I loved designing the interior bringing colours in from the outside elements. The bed is hand crafted from Indonesia Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Mars Hill lower."

It is a beautiful, spacious apartment with outstanding views over the harbour. The furnishing is quirky and fun. The apartment was clean, warm, and everything we needed was easy to use. Kitchen equipment was more than fine for simple cooking, though perhaps not for fine dining! Dunoon itself is a fantastic base to reach the nearby Cowal hills - which was our reason for the visit. The only small issue we had was that we had driven up with our small camper van (Hyundai i800) which doesn’t have a great turning circle - making it very difficult to turn around on the relatively small drive up at the house. We elected to park on the street instead, though probably would have been fine in a smaller car.

Thank you for your review! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay in Dunoon and the decor, I tried to bring elements and colours of the outside into the apartment when I was doing it up. Property Owner
