  • "The cottage was lovely and clean on arrival, there were plenty of amenities such as pots and pans, crockery and cutlery to suit everybody's needs."

There was an abundance of storage space for food items which was great for 2 families sharing! The owners were so kind in providing baby bowls and spoons and leaving a cot and highchair to accommodate our stay. I've already recommended the property to friends who have asked about our trip and would highly recommend it to others who enjoy a peaceful property in a stunning location.

  • "We had the most fantastic break and Cherry Trees Cottage was remarkably clean, well equipped and comfortable."

The only downside for us was there was no mention of the steep steps into the property both back, front and into the main bedroom and conservatory which were totally inaccessible. However that aside we still so enjoyed our stay and the bed was the most comfortable ever!!

  • "Cherry trees was a fantastic cottage ,wonderful views ."

We found the property spotless when we arrived . A very good location lots to see and do within an hours drive. There were a few very minor maintenance issues but nothing that effected our holiday ,I have emailed the owner about these . We saw a red squirrel in the garden a few times ,which was great . Our 2 dogs loved the property ,the garden is lovely but as written in a previous review is not dog secure so dogs were kept on leads which was not an issue . We would definitely recommend Cherry trees for a fantastic Scottish holiday . We were blessed with great weather only rained once in 2 weeks ,which I think is rare for Argyll.

Hello Jill, Thanks for the feedback and your notes, we do appreciate you booking the cottage and all communication on how we can improve is welcome. Here's a few notes from us re: next steps we will take based on your feedback; 1. Cigarette smell - the cleaner never mentioned anything when she cleaned for your arrival, but thanks for putting in the the air freshener. Only thing I can think of is that maybe the neighbour through the wall was smoking? We very much emphasise the cottage is no smoking 2. Radiators - these were bled a few months back but must need done again, thanks for the flag 3. Washing machine - this is relatively new, so not sure why it was leaking! Hopefully just a loose pipe, we will take a look 4. Recycling bins - honestly, these are such a saga. The council won't collect if there is any wrong items in there (which we can't tell), nor will they collect if it's too full...and it's always too full as they never collect it! 5. Lightbulbs - easy fix and we'll get these swapped in 6. Garden - since you booked we have changed the note on the site Sykes site to say the garden is not 100% enclosed Delighted to hear you had some sunshine, September was a lovely month. Very best, Iain Property Owner

  • "It was a lovely property, had everything we needed it was like being at home."

Gorgeous area too, so much wildlife. In the garden alone I saw a red squirrel, an otter, a mouse and lots of Robins and other birds. Perfect.

Thank you Gladys for the feedback and wonderful that you enjoyed your stay! the garden is indeed a haven for wildlife in all seasons. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property ,lots of room for a large family ."

Very comfortable fixtures, furniture etc. Kitchen and dining facilities were excellent, with everything you could possibly need. I only wish we could have stayed longer. My only negative comments would be : the driveway up to the property is very narrow and has overgrown bushes/branches either side, which did mark my car bodywork. Needs cutting back . Also we had an issue with mice getting into our bags throughout the week. Traps and a more thorough clean would not go amiss.

Thank you for your kind feedback; we have asked the maintenance team to keep on top of the bushes on our section of the lane. We apologise about the mice, this is a consequence of an old house in a rural area. We have ordered more sonic plug-in repellents and some cat litter to see if that works. Property Owner

  • "This was a very disappointing experience."

Although the property is advertised as on ground level there is a couple of steps in the property.which proved very awkward for our elderly father. The garden is advertised as enclosed but dogs can easy escape from here. The cottage is in desperate need of updating, general maintance and cleanliness was poor. From the overhanging bushes on the driveway which we had to drive through to mould, dust, dead bugs and moss growing inside the sun room and in other areas of the property this was very poor. The welcome pack was a disgrace. There was no thought put into it and it seemed like someone had found the contents in the back of there cupboard. Whilst there was coffee, tea and individual cerials there was no milk or sugar. What is unacceptable is that the cerial had a BBE date of January 2024 whilst the waffles also in the welcome pack had a date of July 2023. The house is potentially dangerous. The blinds in the sun room have cords hanging very low posing a risk to young children.Whist we were there we had a plug socket burn out which was fixed a few days later. However the isolator sockets do not turn off appliances such as cooker, washing machine etc. You can not access the fuse box if there is an issue as it is up high with no handle on the door to open it. There was out of date dog food left in the cupboard and the first aid box contents and tablets left behind were all a long time out of date. The shower head holder was hanging off the wall, the kitchen kickboard kept falling down and the dishwasher was not working. We addressed issues such as cleanliness, out of date welcome pack items, dangerous electrics, broken appliances and damaged items but only the burnt plug socket was replaced and an excuse of we have a maintance week booked in were made by the owners. This is just some of the issues we came across. This should of been a lovely cottage in a lovely location but this definitely did not meet anything near the standards advertised. We have took numerous photos and videos and will be asking for a partial refund. We would of left this property before the end of the week due to the issues we came across but were unable to do so due to personal reasons.

  • "Absolutely stunning cottage in beautiful surroundings, very peaceful and great for the dogs."

Very clean and had everything we needed in the cottage. The midgies can be crazy at times lol, but apart from that me and my family had a great week. Also plenty of things to do in the surrounding areas.

So glad to hear you and the dogs enjoyed yourself. I am afraid midges are a curse of the locale, we are thinking to take some branches down off the trees to create more of a breeze, that might help! Property Owner

  • "Cherry Trees is clean, comfortable and warm."

It seemed very well equipped - even a picnic basket and, because it's Scotland, umbrellas! I think it would be a fabulous cottage for children: loads of games and dvds are provided and woods to play in at the back. But it is not suitable for dogs. There is nothing to stop a dog getting on to the very busy - and noisy - A83 which runs just below the cottage.

  • "Beautiful little find."

In all my years of coming to Furnace i never knew this existed.Gorgeous spot and great size and full of facilities. My only gripe is i feel there is too many cushions which i feel cannot be cleaned in such a short turnaround of guests.I loved there was alot of personal touches but i feel it was quite cluttered especially with kitchen utensils etc. There was also quite alot left over teas and food in freezer which i think should of been removed before our arrival.
