"This was a lovely cosy cottage for us to stay in."
It was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed good board games on the table in the kitchen. It was nice and warm to settle down of an evening and watch telly and unwind after a long day walking around all the fascinating sites of archealogy. Guests were looked after and thought about and the water was lovely, fresh, clear mains water - much appreciated.
Thank you so much for your kind response. We really do try and keep the cottage to a good standard where our guests can unwind and relax and have a great week. Many thanks.

Freshly painted bathroom following previous visitor’s feedback, shows that the owners really care about the cottage. Numerous foodie treats on arrival. Very cosy and well set up so that you will have a great break, no matter the weather with lots of walks from the doorstep.

"We were not pleased with this property."
In particular two issues need addressing: # Bathroom: The toilet did not flush properly, it sometimes took four flushes to clear the waste, and required the use of the toilet brush The shower cubicle: The tray was slippery, and as I am partly disabled this could prove to be a hazard. The unit needs a non slip mat and grab handles fitted for safety. The shower door edging was detached from the door. The drainage was poor, maybe the waste system needs cleaning out, resulting in build up of dirty water in the tray during use. Bedroom 1: lovely linens. But the window is covered in small black insects or whatever, looks awful, and there are fly nests inside the casement window in the corners Overall, I think for the cost of this property the above rendered it not value for money.

"Really well-equipped cottage in a lovely remote setting but very central to the Kilmartin Glen area."
The kitchen has everything you might need. The electric heating is very effective and easy to control in each room. The facilities for dealing with wet coats and muddy boots were especially good. The pulley in the central hall above the heater is perfect for getting everything dry again in no time. We found lots of walks from the cottage door, including stone circles, forests, sea shore etc.

"Really beautiful, well looked after property!"
So much to do and see nearby - so much history and walking. We didn't have to venture too far and stayed very local, which is exactly what we wanted to do - and there was still stuff to do by the end of the week.
Cottage was lovely and well-equipped (what a treat to find sharp knives, a non-stick frying pan and foil!) - only thing missing was tea/coffee/oil/salt/pepper but otherwise perfect. Lots of lovely little treats left for us including fresh bread - thank you!
The garden was very steep - and the gate nearest the front of the house to the garden didn't open (inconvenient but there's 2 other gates so no biggie). The black cat who lives next door gave us a wonderful welcome.
The beds were sooooooo comfy!!!! And we drank the "brown water" for a week and survived so don't worry about that - extra flavour!
Honestly would come back in a heart beat, and would have stayed happily for another week if we didn't have to go back to work.
Thanks again for a lovely stay!
P.S. In the footsteps of kings is a brilliant guide to the area - there was a copy in the house, definitely worth referring to when planning days out!

Very friendly people round about the property. A lovely garden if the weather is fine. Our hosts gave us some gifts that were very greatly appreciated and friendly. Our family live near the cottage, but the hosts if you book would be very approachable with any information that you need.
The only negative for us was the fact that the cleaners arrived at 9.45 and sat in the car waiting for us to go. We duly left at precisely ten o'clock!

"We enjoyed our week at Tayness very much."
It is a small and comfortable old cottage that retains many of its original features. It has the necessary modern facilities for a self-catering holiday but cannot be compared with a modern fully equipped cottage - but the old charm completely offsets the smaller area, the kitchen/diner being especially pleasant as a living area retaining the old fireplace. The road to it is fairly rough but acceptable and a more detailed access route was suggested.

"The cottage is lovely and if you're looking for peace and quiet / a base to explore the surrounding area, this is the space for you."
The track up is a little bit bumpy /rough but if you approach with care, it's not a problem. As the water for the cottage comes from its own source, it is a little peaty and discoloured - again, it wasn't a problem for us as this was flagged to us so we brought our own for everyday drinking water. We loved our time at 2 Tayness and would definitely come back.

"The cottage was lovely: clean, well equipped and in a good location."
The big downside was the quality of the water. The advert said the cottage had its own private water supply from a bore hole and this wasn’t a problem as we had stayed in a cottage before with its own water supply, however the water was brown (the colour of beer) all week. The owner was aware of the problem and had supplied us with enough bottled drinking water for half a week for the four of us. The water was full of sediment and washing in it wasn’t pleasant, it was difficult to feel clean and washing your hair so it felt clean was a challenge. I feel the cottage was quite expensive considering the lack of clean water for washing and drinking and feel we should have been made aware of the quality of the water before arriving.

"The Cottage was lovely but great care had to be taken driving to it as the road is extremely rough in places with many deep pot holes, however this is a shared road with the other house owners and an effort is taken to make repairs."
Jennifer and Ian left wonderful, thoughtful treats which was lovely including milk and water as the water although safe to drink was discoursed due to heavy rain and the conditions of the ground with the cottage having its own water supply.
The cottage was exactly as described and in a lovely setting with many walks from it. Jennifer and Ian popped us to see us making us feel very welcomed and on hand should we have needed to contact them.
It its peace and quite that you want this is the place to book as perfect.

"We had a largely enjoyable week at our cottage, the area is lovely, the weather was excellent, the cottage owners were very helpful, partricularly Iain who came and fixed a very minor issue for us."
The cottage was generally well equiped- it had internet etc and the decoration was modern. However there was very little natural light in the cottage.- only first thing in the morning; its partner cottage did have a south facing aspect but 2 Tayness does not and generally it is very dark and cold. Although the cottage was a good 3/4 of a mile up a track there is no view from it(other than the pine trees on the side of the valley immediately opposite). As you sit in the kitchen you could not see the blue of the sky and there was nowhere you could sit outside to get good views. Again the other Tayness cottage has both of these.
The fittings were generally good but in late June when it is light until gone 11 at night you need good curtains to make the bedrooms dark and one of the two bedrooms has a velux window with no black out at all. The beds themselves were the biggest let downs; they were the softest we have used in any cottage, far too soft. And lastly although we knew the cottage was up a track we didn't know that it was so long not quite a mile but not far off and in places very rough. That could and should have been clearer.

..we spent an idyllic Christmas week at this very well equipped and functional cottage. Jennifer & Iain were very accommodating and offered us hospitality beyond expectation, a lovely little wrapped gift under the Christmas tree and welcoming supplies which were warmly received. The Scottish weather was kind to us for the week, which afforded us some stunning walking days and some pretty sublime views in this heavenly part of the world. An open fire and range to come home to were just the icing on the cake for us. We were warmly welcomed at the great little pub in the village at Kilmartin on numerous occasions, some excellent food on offer there to meet all tastes. The area is steeped in some pretty neat history too! Certainly a place we'd love to return to.

"We have just returned from the most amazing week at 2 Tayness."
Everything about this place is magical, the location is perfect for getting away from it all ( even though we live in a rather rural location ourselves) the cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break, super comfy beds, log fire, beautiful views and an abundance of little extras from the owner. Having worked in hospitality for nearly 20 years it’s the little touches that can really make a holiday go from good to extra special.
Tayness is a perfect base to explore the area and we certainly did that. From wildlife, seals, otters, deer & Fox to name a few. To ferry adventures across Loch Fyne and relaxing lunches out. We would normally look to book somewhere new when arranging a holiday, but we have already decided we will be returning to 2 Tayness.
