"The property is lovely had everything we needed It was spotlessly clean."
The only thing was only 1 shower as the other bathroom only has a bath. But that would not put me off coming back
-
"Having been put on notice by previous reviewers about the black mould in the shower(Sept."
Review) uncomfortable mattresses with cheap and nasty pillows(April review) it was disappointing to note that nothing had been done to address these issues also, whilst fishing something out from under the sofa discovered that this area is seldom if ever cleaned. Otherwise satisfactory.

"A lovely property situated in a great location."
Facilities provided were excellent and the outside garden was a boon for Darcy, the 5 year old Wocker Cocker The sandy beach just a stone's throw away was a real bonus. The reasons for a 4* rather than 5* as indicated above, are 1) the shower cubicle needs a really good clean/refurb to remove the black mould and 2) the lack of any welcome pack, which, in my opinion, is usually provided to guests. Despite these two gripes, Darcie and I had a great holiday - thank you! Alan Lee

"Had a lovely break at Meadowbank."
The property was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. Right next door to the local shop and take away and the beach is a minute away which was perfect for the dog. Not too far away from Culzean castle and a good location for exploring Ayrshire. Pool table has a bit of a dip in the middle but still kept the kids entertained and off their phones!!
-
"A lovely property we managed to secure very last minute as our planned stay was cancelled."
Very good location only a minutes walk from the beach with a few venues to eat out within walking distance. Cottage was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Would benefit from a small welcome pack - salt, pepper, milk, tea bags etc but the shop is next door and had all we needed. There is no dedicated private parking but there is plenty parking available just outside the property. Would recommend this property and hope to use it again.

"A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location."
We loved our stay here and will be coming back! Thank you!

"My 3rd time staying at Meadow and it really feels like home."
Spotlessly clean as always and the open plan layout downstairs is perfect for my husband and I to spend time with our teenage boys and elderly parents. The sun room is perfect for dining, playing card games and chilling out with a good book. We all love the walks along the beach or to Ropes for food and drinks. Our dog enjoyed the walks too and had lots of fun in the enclosed garden.
-
"Absolutely stunning property enough space for everyone even the teenager."
The property and it’s size just outstanding as well as the little shop and all round views off the seas and area would love to stay again everything we could have wish for in a place to stay was like home from home
-
"Lovely clean accommodation."
Great location. Only thing was for elderly people the sofa was too soft and low. Could have done with one chair. Also had to bring the table from outside in to use as a foot stool. Also all the beds were uncomfortable, mattresses too hard for our preference. Double and king size beds were too low again for elderly.
-
"We spent a wonderful 3 nights holiday in this house and we definitely want to repeat our stay, maybe longer next time."
Thank you
-
"The property is fantastic."
House is absolutely stunning and spotlessly clean. Bit clinical actually! Location is great too. Everything anyone could possibly need. BUT the beds let it down big style. The mattresses need badly replaced. The cheap (albeit spotless) pillows are awful- I had to bolster with cushions! We all lost sleep and we decided after 3 horrid nights to head home. Enjoyed our stay except for the misery of those beds.

"Had a week at same cottage in July , so was return visit November 3 days."
Beautiful cottage inside & outside. Looks exactly same as photos. Spotless clean. Broken kettle was replaced quickly. Owner Caroline very helpful & obliging. Secure garden for our young Cavapoo dog. Handy local shop across road. Lovely local walks lots grass across road and entrance to the right to beach. Nice Walk to harbour area with lots of seats. 10 min coastal drive to Girvan. This time round due to health issues we drove car to furthest away car park towards caravans then it’s approx 25 min walk along caravan pathway & into back of Culzean Castle grounds & Swan pool with castle another 30 min walk . In summer we walked along beach & first entrance at a small waterway (which we missed ) or can climb the wooden steps further along (steep climb) Dog settled well in cottage & loved beach & our walks. Great family cottage & great for dogs too.

"Just back from a lovely family break at this stunning property."
Lovely and spacious house with every comfort and need catered for. Our daughter loved the games table in the garage and the bunk bed room and our dog enjoyed the enclosed garden. Highly recommend this lovely, comfortable house. Thanks for a lovely stay
-
"Another relaxing stay at Meadowbank."
A lovely, modern and comfortable cottage with everything you need for your stay. The beach is so close for daily strolls, and Ropes nearby for a lovely cocktail or two. Just what the doctor ordered.
-
"Absolutely lovely property."
Great for dogs and secure garden. Lovely furniture and fittings and comfy beds, we all slept really well. Great to have the shop just next door and they were so friendly. Loved Wildings restaurant down the road, the food was gorgeous. The location was brilliant, fabulous walk down to the Culzean estate and not to mention the sunsets, even though the weather was a bit questionable we got 4 beautiful sunsets. Our only frustration was lack of shower upstairs, that really was an issue for us. We would stay again definitely but really would appreciate that 2nd shower!
-
"The property was fabulous but as there was just 2 of us so a bit big certainly ideal for 6 people, The only disappointment was no welcome pack which we have always had in our properties."
I know not compulsary but it is a nice touch!

"This is my 2nd time booking a cottage through Sykes and have found their accommodation description very true to life, their booking process easy to follow and communication and instructions very informative."
Meadowbank Cottage was very spacious, spotlessly clean and had all the facilities you could need for a home away from home. Decoration was very contemporary, the garden was perfect for our pooch and co close to the shoreside and was a lovely little spot in Ayrshire that I hadn't known about before. We were blessed with good weather which made our stay even better. I would recommend this accommodation.

"Meadow bank is an absolutely amazing cottage, it had everything we needed and more and it was spotlessly clean."
We had the most amazing time there, enjoying the outdoor space in the sunshine. The indoor open space living was also the perfect place to chill especially after a day of sightseeing, the sunroom was my favourite place to read my book. The downstairs bedroom and shower room was perfect for my eldest parents. Our dog loved the large garden with regular walks along the beach, to the harbour and Ropes for us to go for drinks and food. My teenage boys loved the garage with the pool table. Can’t wait to come back next year.
-
"Thanks for a lovely stay."
The cleaners did a great job, the place was spotless. Very comfortable house and a lovely location, we’ll definitely be back

"Cottage was just perfect thanks"
-
"The cottage was perfect in every way."
-
"Our third time staying at Meadowbank."
It is a lovely modern, clean and comfortable cottage. We enjoyed walks on the beach with our dog and visits to Ropes for a drink in the evening. My son enjoyed activities at near by Carrick Adventures . A lovely, welcoming and cosy place to stay. We will be back.
-
"This property lives up to its photographs."
Clean, modern and with everything you need. Open plan downstairs makes the property very spacious. The garden is first class for dogs, completely secure and I had no worries letting my little pooch wander whilst the enormous patio (triple windows) were wide open, giving a real inside/outside feel. Maidens is a gem and you really can see the sea (and the Isle of Arran) from the property. The beach is literally two minutes walk from the front door. Ayrshire was lovely to explore, lots of lovely dog walks (Culzeon Castle is a must visit), although we did struggle to find anywhere to eat inside with the dog. We even took the ferry across to Arran for the day. I cannot recommend this property highly enough and will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely stay.
-
"This is a lovely cottage."
Very clean, well looked after, lovely garden & safe for the dog to run around in. Games room was an added bonus ( added after we booked
-
"Great wee holiday cottage."
Would highly recommend. Very clean and friendly. So close to the beach and handy for local restaurant and bistro.
-
"Lovely, modern house with good facilities including a games room."
Would have no reservations recommending this house to friends or family. Convenience store right next door which doubles up as a cafe/chip shop, which is always a good thing. Really can't fault it.
-
"My husband and I had a lovely relaxing stay, the property is just beautiful."
It is most definitely a home from home experience very dog friendly. Plenty of sunshine trapped outdoor space. Would highly recommend and will be booking again.
-
"The house is a credit to the owners."
It is spotless and the layout is ideal. Decor is lovely. The sunroom in an afternoon to read is a treat and the games room an added bonus. The enclosed garden was loved by the dog to play ball. Wanted for nothing! Ideal location to explore surrounding attractions: Culzean Castle, Burns Country and Balgary Gardens. The shop next door sells everything but you’re not far from the Asda at Girvan. Long walks on a spotless beach ideal for walking the dog. Well enjoyed and relaxing stay!

Never had any problem parking. Level access to bedroom and bathroom on ground floor much appreciated.

"What an amazing cottage the pictures really don't do this place justice ..."
What an amazing cottage the pictures really don't do this place justice brilliant location has everything you need and more very high standard inside and out garden is great and 100 % dog / child safe been to many cottages over the years in many different places this one is definitely in the top 3 if not the best actually liked it that much we rebooked on our second night to come back in October can't recommend highly enough if you had 6 stars I'd give it 7 Derrick and Susan
-
"This was the perfect accommodation for us as we were attending a wedding not far away from Meadowbank."
Love the modernisation of the cottage, enjoyed the views and very Ideal for taking or wee man and dog for walks along the beach. We had a couple of drinks at the local pub 'Ropes' great views with friendly service. Would be cracking in the summer. Highly recommended.
-
"99% perfect."
Tastefully decorated in the most beautiful location. Everything and more you need from a holiday home. The coast road drive is stunning. Culzean on your doorstep a bonus. Originally from South Ayrshire we used it as a base to rediscover and a few nostalgia trips out. 1% knocked off as “ this is hopefully seen as constructive criticism”. The lounge needs a couple of table lamps as a softer alternative.
-
"As a family we so needed a break and your accommodation brough us exactly what we needed."
It was everything we wished for. The kitchen is well stocked, place cleaned immaculately Nd bedrooms not only huge but so so comfy. Lication perfect for kids, walker and twitchers. Life was perfect for 5 days lol x

"We have had another lovely relaxing week in this cottage."
Its spacious, clean and cosy with everything you need for your stay. Great location next to the beach and harbour for walks. Enjoyed sitting outside at Ropes Bistro for a drink in the evening. Already booked to come back again.
-

"Second summer holiday in Meadowbank, great cottage in Maidens which is a lovely spot."
The games room was an addition this year which will be great for families with older children.
-
"Great holiday house - comfortable, modern and fresh."
On street parking was not an issue - we were always able to find a space.
-
"This is a brilliant cottage in a superb location."
It is recently refurbished and in immaculate condition. It is 100 yards from the beach and there is so much to see in the surrounding area.
-
"Lovely spacious house in the perfect spot in Maidens, shop just 20 yards away from the front door where you can top up with supplies and eateries nearby."
We highly recommend Wildings Hotel for some great food and for smaller equally nice lunches Ropes Bistro. The house itself was presented beautifully and really the pictures don't do it justice. We had a small issue during the week when we lost the hot water but Alan the joint owner came out promptly and resoved the issue quickly for us. Only minor moan (and it is minor) is that the parking outside the lottery can be a bit of a lottery as it is a small circular parking area which serves the shop mainly, but to be fair the owners do stress that it is first come , first served re parking right outside the house, it's busiest during the weekends Great stay and beautiful village, look forward to coning again
-
"The house is absolutely perfect, lots of room for all the family."
Near to the beach, we were also very lucky with the weather, the patio furniture was used every day. Thank you for a brilliant holiday
-
"The cottage was beautiful, exceptionally clean and the photos didn’t do it justice."
It was in a very quiet village with beautiful views over to Arran. There’s lots of places to visit a short drive from Maidens, Culzean Castle, Dunure and Rabbie Burns museum, cottage and monument, we had an amazing meal in the Brig o Doon hotel Alloway, highly recommended. Enjoyed a very relaxing 6 nights in Meadowbank and would definitely recommend it.
-
"This cottage was fantastic and good value for money."
Well equipped and comfy bed. Great location as only across the road to the beach. Handy shop next door too ! Sadly on our first day there was a power cut but we couldn’t find a torch in the property so had to sit in the dark until the electric was back on. The only other thing was because it rained a lot we had lots of wet clothing but there wasn’t a dryer or washing line to dry them on. However everything else was fabulous and we really didn’t want to go home. Probably the best cottage we have ever stayed in and would highly recommend it to others. The chocolates and wine and welcome note was a real treat Thankyou so very much. We will definitely be back. Regards Angie Kirtley and Linton Woodman.

"It was a beautiful, clean and comfortable home that had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday."
Positioned next the harbour which allowed for lovely walks down to the beach. The enclosed garden was also perfect for our dog.
-

Very well situated near to the beach and small shop. House was lovely and clean on arrival and everything we needed was available. Great for children, very comfortable and modern. Lovely area for eating out and some nice little walks and beaches nearby. Would definitely recommend and would like to return soon!

Comfortable and well equipped, would recommend.

About the location
MAIDENS
Maybole 7 miles; Girvan 7.5 miles.
This fishing village sits at the south end of Maidenhead Bay on the Ayrshire coast and looks out to sea with views of Arran and Ailsa Craig and the distant Mull of Kintyre. It was here that Robert the Bruce is acknowledged to have come ashore when he sailed from Rathlin Island in Northern Ireland after his encounter with the spider in the early 14th century. The ancient Earls of Carrick had their seat at Turnberry Castle which today is a ruin. Today Maidens is a popular spot for visitors with its traditional harbour, extensive beach, a couple of restaurants and its close proximity to Turnberry and the spectacular Culzean Castle.
