"We had a great stay in The Dairy everything was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with the basics you would need."
We had fantastic views of the Galloway Hills and the river Cree with the odd sightings of belted Galloway cattle. The weather was kind to us which helped when travelling around the county visiting places, we would recommend Threve Gardens, Culzean Castle and Dumfries House. Unfortunately on the way there the A75 was closed but a telephone call to Carol to say we would be arriving later than anticipated resulted in her giving us an alternative route to take, thanks Carol. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and we would recommend any of the properties on offer.

"One of the best places we've stayed in 20 years of travel."
Comfortable, well-appointed accommodation. We were in The Dairy with the benefit of bathrooms on both floors. Quiet setting with a lovely view across the fields. No noise from adjacent cottages. An easy 2kms walk to supermarkets in Newton Stewart. Highly recommended.
Thank you Pru for taking the time to leave your lovely review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the Dairy. Carol Property Owner

"Lovely welcome from Mrs Bell, the cottage is excellent and if we are in the area again we would definitely stay there again."
Everything we needed for a home from home.
Thank you for your kind feedback. It was a pleasure to meet you all and we would welcome you back anytime. Carol x Property Owner
-
"Nicely set out property in a stunning location but let down by lack of attention to detail relating to housekeeping."
-
"Lovely location especially early morning views from our bedroom Dormer windows, Mountains, Forest, River, Farmland etc: all in an otherwise unpopulated view."
All amenities provided and easy to maintain without much work on our part. We managed to trip out every day and visit all the castles and gardens we planned to visit.
-
"This is our 2nd visit to the Dairy."
Lovely spacious and comfortable cottage with beautiful views of the Galloway Hills and river Cree. Good sized fridge/freezer and excellent cooking facilities. Open fields to the rear and nice cycle/ walking path to Newton Stewart, our dog loved it. One slight gripe, not really big is the WiFi is quite unreliable, so make sure you have plenty of data on your devices. However, I would highly recommend this location for a relaxing break in outstanding surroundings

"Lovely cottage and super location."
Although there is a lot of outdoor space, a bit of private outdoor space would have made things.
-
"Excellent property and friendly owner."
Very spacious and clean.
-
"The Dairy is delightful and I cannot recommend it highly enough."
It’s spotlessly clean, extremely cosy and comfortable, well equipped and in the most glorious location. My second time at Nether Barr Steading and I would love to go again.
Thank you Ruth for your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

"The property was exactly as described."
Lovely walks for our dog. Just wish there had been a back door to let the dog out at night.
-
"We had an awesome time at The Dairy, warm, welcoming & central to our photography hobbies."
The cottage was very spacious inside and had lovely views to the countryside. It was lovely to walk outside in the mornings before sunrise and listen to & watch the wildlife. A big thumbs up from us!!!!!!!
-
"This a lovely roomy accommodation."
There would be more than enough room for 4 people complete with large fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, so fully equipped. Plenty of towels provided. Beautiful view to the Galloway Hills from the windows. We enjoyed watching the Belted Galloway Cows and Black Galloway Cows roaming across the fields. Upstair has a slopping ceiling, so be careful if you are tall. There is a large field next to the accommodation which is great for dog walking, also a walking/ cycle path all the way to nearby Newton Stewart, our dog loved her daily walks. I noticed a few fly fishermen on the river Cree, one showed me a picture of a huge 8lb salmon he had caught the previous day. You are really to close to the Galloway Forest for some fantastic walks and scenery. Also if like me your an EV owner like me there is a reliable charge point in Newton Stewart. Even better there was a free vend charger in nearby Wigtown. Carol the owner was really friendly and helpful. Just one minor niggle and I mean minor is the WiFi provided is very flakey, so top up your data if you use the Internet a lot. Overall brilliant accommodation in a beautiful location.. Highly Recommended.

"A great cottage just outside the town."
There's an off road path to the town which is perfect for walking, running or cycling with other footpaths to explore once in the town, which means that walks of several miles can be achieved from the cottage. Off road parking. Good range of facilities in the cottage, including outside tables and chairs for relaxing and eating meals. Owners very friendly and helpful.

"I did think that the photo advertising the cottage was misleading as I thought that this was a photo of the cottage that I was staying in."
It was good to feel safe in accommodation outside our own home. It made it a very relaxing stay.
-
"Very well presented given current regulations."
Comfortable and Carol very considerate. Very good location for the Machars and SW Svotland with Newton Stewart easily accessed, but far enough away to be out in the countryside.
-
"Location, close to loch Trool and Kirroughtree forests."
The Dairy comfortable, clean, well presented. Nice bunch of fresh tulips sitting on the table when arrived. The owner welcoming and friendly.

"Cottage was "Absolutely Fabulous"."

"We had a lovely holiday at The Dairy, the location is good, close enough for a walk into the town but secluded enough to escape it all."
Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and living area. Very friendly for dogs with a large field to the rear of the property and plenty of walks on the doorstep.

-
"It was fantastic."
Perfect accommodation, perfect location. Weather not so good but nothing to be done about that, although everything else about the holiday overcame the weather. Would certainly book again and recommend to friends.

About the location
NEWTON STEWART
Port William 17.2 miles; Kirkcudbright 28 miles; Castle Douglas 30.4 miles;
The market town of Newton Stewart, famous for its salmon and trout fishing, lies in a superb location between the serene rolling countryside of the Machars to the south and the Galloway Forest Park to the north. The area is steeped in history. The first Christian missionary to Scotland landed at The Machars, founding the first church in AD 397 in Whithorn. The Whithorn Dig Visitor Centre lies on the site and displays material dug up over years of excavations. The beautiful coastline is a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky shores teeming with birdlife, whilst inland there is superb walking country to be discovered in the Galloway Hills and Forest Park. Sailing, riding and fishing are all available locally and there are plenty of excellent courses to keep the keen golfer busy.
