  • "The Stables is a well appointed accommodation guaranteeing a few days stay of comfort and relaxation."

The residents in the area are so friendly and welcoming and the ability to walk around the 5000 acre estate, which includes loughs, woodland, hillside, river banks, grazing land, wildlife and interesting history only adds to the relaxing time enjoyed here. From the point of view of a visitor to the wider area, there are plenty of local attractions with which to acquaint yourself.

  • "A beautiful converted cottage within a fabulous estate."

The entrance to the estate gives you a glimpse of what is to come - beautiful manicured grounds with a loch and converted stables with clock tower. The cottage itself was perfectly clean has everything you need and more. The quality and comfort has been well thought out. The owner came to greet us and this was much appreciated. A very relaxing week in beautiful surroundings. Thank you Sarah and team.

  • "We can only describe this accommodation as an absolute gem."

Set within the grounds of a beautiful well managed country estate, the Stables flat is spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and a very pleasant property. Sarah (the owner) welcomed us on our arrival and provided us with the information regarding the facilities both in the accommodation, the estate, and the local area. The flat equipped with everything we needed to have a really relaxed and cosy time, with glorious walks in the grounds to add "icing on the cake". We enjoyed ourselves so much that on arrival back home we booked to go back to The Stables for our anniversary in November.

Plenty of walks and bike rides in the area directly from the cottage. The owner came to make sure we were settled in and was very friendly. The cottage itself was very tastefully decorated, comfortable and warm. All you needed in the kitchen. It was quiet and on-site parking. Perfect

About the location

DALSWINTON

Dumfries 7 miles.

Dalswinton is a small village in the Dumfries and Galloway region of southern Scotland and is located just seven miles north of the county town of Dumfries. The River Nith runs through Dalswinton and the village is also home to a couple of small lochs. On the opposite bank of the river is Charles Jencks magnificent Garden of Cosmic Speculation, which normally opens to the public on just one day of the year. Dumfries is known as the Queen of the South and has history dating back to Roman times. Today it is home to a wide range of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as a number of traditional festivals throughout the year. To the south of Dumfries is beautiful coastline leading to Gatehouse of Fleet and Newton Stewart, whilst the Galloway Forest Park is just an hour’s drive to the west.
