  • "Our second visit to Kringlands and we loved every minute."

Such a fantastic base to return to after being out and about. Absolutely every home comfort you can think of. Cosy evenings with the log burner going, plenty of fuel supplied. Cups of tea at the kitchen table watching the ferries. The weather was kind to us, but it’s never about the weather really. I recommend Kringlands 100%

Where you’ll be staying

KIRKCOLM

Stranraer 6 miles.

Kirkcolm, formerly known as Stewarton, which was established in the early 17th Century, is a small village on the tip of the Rhins of Galloway Peninsula. The village offers a homely, welcoming pub and an excellent children’s playpark. Nearby are lovely walks to the coast with superb birdwatching. The village is just 6 miles from Stranraer which is situated at the head of Loch Ryan and has a long history as a ferry port. Stranraer is the gateway to the Rhins of Galloway Peninsula and the town’s main attraction is the Castle of St John, which is a ruined four-story tower house built around 1500. Stranraer Museum can be found in the old town hall.
Three miles east of Stranraer is Castle Kennedy Gardens where you will find the castle, two lochs, a giant lily pond and an avenue of monkey puzzle tree. The quaint seaside village of Portpatrick, with a multitude of pubs and eateries is 11 miles away.
For golfing enthusiasts there are a number of courses including Dunskey near Portpatrick, Creachmore near Stranraer and the world renowned course at Trump Turnberry is an hour away.
