"First impressions count."
Walked through the door and there was a strange smell.
The tiled floor hadn't been swept or mopped.
The window didn't open to allow ventilation resulting in a strange smell that just wouldn't go away.
Filthy.
Upstairs, the bedroom floor was thick with dust, indicating it hadn't been cleaned.
Shameful.

"Very disappointed with the property."
It was freezing cold when we arrived as two windows were open and the heating had been switched off. Unable to contact either the owner or Sykes, but we sorted the heating. It took until the following morning to heat downstairs due to the open plan nature of the property. The floors were dirty, although the sink, toilet and shower were spotless. There were only two saucepans, only one of which had a lid that fitted. No instructions for the washing machine and the duvet was too thin. There were no extra blankets.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced.
We regret that the property was cold upon your arrival and that you were unable to reach the owner or Sykes for assistance. We understand how uncomfortable it must have been to wait until the following morning for the property to warm up. Additionally, we apologize for the cleanliness issues you encountered with the floors and the limited kitchen equipment.
We will address these concerns with the property owner to ensure that the heating is properly managed, additional kitchen utensils are provided, and cleanliness standards are maintained. We will also ensure that clear instructions for the washing machine are available and that extra blankets are provided to enhance guest comfort.
Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our services, and we appreciate your understanding and patience.

"A comfortable property ideal for up to 2 people - didn't see the attic accommodation with twin beds."
Very centrally placed - near to numerous shops, eateries etc. Cleanly presented, an adequate kitchen, a typical one up / one down cottage. Plenty of safe street parking around. Whilst a combi system the boiler was constantly firing even if water was not being drawn - an annoyance at night as it's situated in the bedroom. The hive system proved inflexible as well. No wi-fi but my network - EE - had a strong signal.

"Unbelievable."
Photos available. Pan for omelet worn to rust so unable to cook there. Bedroom, we found and suffered from insects in the bed spent a fortune on sprays to kill them each day.Stayed away from cottage 8/10 hours a day Boiler next to bed. Bathroom had to flush loo three times on average to flush loo paper and numerous for bowel movement Cord for light previously repaired snapped on us. Junk in cupboards was ridiculous. No fire extinguisher.. Freezing cold even with fire on in a hot week. Can we really trust Sykes again cos there were more faults to mention all here We did report to Sykes over 2 weeks ago but after initial response weve heard no more from Sykes

"Cottage was small but adequate, shame there was no WiFi."
We parked in parking area across the road but had a note put on the car asking us to move it as it was private.
We had a nice stay none the less and if you get the chance go to the Auld Alliance Restaurant opposite Tesco, you won't regret it.

"We found the house clean and comfortable."
Although fairly small it was perfect for the two of us with a small dog. There was everything that we needed, was very well equipped. It might be helpful for others to know that you need to squeeze the buttons either side of the key lock, once you put the code in, as it took us a little while to figure out. The only thing we had a bit of trouble with was the lack of grey bin for our rubbish, there didn't seem to be one. The recycling bins were outside the door, and the grey one was supposed to be across the road with the house name on, but we couldn't find it. We loved our stay, and enjoyed all kirkcudbright had to offer. We went out to the Dhoon beach every morning to walk the dog, she loved it. Thoroughly relaxing holiday.

"Great small cottage just nicely out of the centre."
Soon warmed up once and great comfortable beds. Only downside is the central heating boiler is in the bedroom, when it comes on in the night. Cottage had everything you need apart from WiFi

"Very comfortable, clean, cosy little place."
I was initially concerned that the heating wouldn't stay on for more than a minute or two, however I found that the supplementary fan heater and portable radiator together with the electric fire kept the place toasty so the central heating was not needed. Good facilities all in good order. Perfect space, great location, easy parking. I knew it didn't have WiFi when booking but the addition of WiFi would be the only potential improvement I could think of.

"Nice little property for a week away with the Dog."
Fantastic walks directly from front door, and red squirrels 5 minutes walk away!.
Boiler next to bed was a bit of an issue for me being a light sleeper, and when weather gets colder a rug or 2 downstairs on the cold stones would be a bonus. But otherwise exactly as advertised. We had a lovely week away.

"The cottage was ideally placed for Kirkcudbright, however the cottage was more like a bedsit downstairs and very small, I did not like the stone floor and found this extremely uncomfortable, it states big enough for 4 people to stay - there is a 2 seater sofa?"
Upstairs was very nice, however the boiler in the bedroom was very noisy through the night often waking us Parking was down on the main street (there was an area of wasteland opposite but no instruction as to whether this could be used for parking) The cottage could benefit from some instructions: The downstairs TV did not work, however it had no Ariel, we purchased one (£1.99) and my husband returned the TV, we did let Sykes know but the solution was not to our satisfaction which was to remove the Ariel from upstairs The outside recycle bins were overflowing but no instruction on where to put them out or which days The oven did not work - there were no instructions to let us know otherwise There were also no instructions to use the washing machine We hoovered on the last day and the hoover was very smelly thank goodness we didn't need to use it earlier it would have definately caused an allergy We did have to wash cutlery prior to use They Key Cabinet outside did not work - reported this to Sykes but they could find no record of our booking? Kirkcudbright and surrounding area is beautiful and just as we remembered

"The cottage was fine."
A good location for accessing the town and its facilities on foot. It was reasonably clean throughout, though we did have to wash some of the cutlery and pans before using. There was no QR code or means to notify owner of arrival as suggested via email that there would be due to the current Covid situation. We found the bed reasonably comfortable and the TV in the bedroom came in useful when the main TV lost it's picture. We tried unsuccessfully several times to contact Sykes by phone to report the problem with the TV as we could not find owners details until 2 days later rifling through post and papers in a cupboard. When we did finally find the owners phone number he was very apologetic as the TV was new, and appreciative of being informed of the issue.

"There was a reed diffuser in the living room which smelt so strongly, I put it in the under stairs cupboard (sorry, I forgot to put it back on the shelf)."
Whilst I understand the reason for them, not everyone can tolerate the smell or may have allergies.
The mattress and pillows were clean but there were no protectors under the sheet and pillowcases.
The front door lock broke during my stay and Skyes responded quickly, contacting the owner, who arranged for a locksmith to come within an hour.
