"Everything was perfect and just as we hoped it would be."
The location can't be beat - a 1 minute walk to all the bookshops and across the street from the Co-op. Everything was super clean and organised, welcome goodies were lovely and the dark out shade in bedroom is a nice touch. Can't wait to be back!
I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for teh feedback x Property Owner

"Great place to stay, especially if you like books!"
Everything required was in town. Owner very kind with welcoming hamper, and communication was no problem. Very satisfied with this booking, even though we took everything like washing up liquid etc, everything was already in place. 5*

"Story Cottage as soon as you go in through the door it’s immediately stunning, you just felt you were at home straight away and with the personal touch by our host Julie with the welcome pack it was a wow."
Downstairs is very well laid out and upstairs with the spacious bedroom along with the bathroom / shower room it’s all you’ll ever need for your stay, would definitely recommend a stay at Story Cottage.

"A lovely cosy cottage on a quiet road but a short walk to shops."

"A very comfortable and pleasing house - clean, light and airy, very well appointed, and a wonderful collection of “extras”, including a box of lateral flow Covid tests (how thoughtful, should anyone be caught out away from home."
Fortunately, we didn’t need them). Our only personal trouble was getting our ancient bones up from the sofa. Julie was always just a friendly text away, and it was good to know that she was nearby, if needed. Thank you for our stay, and our introduction to Wigtown. Jane Stevenson

"A beautiful little cottage with everything that could be possibly required."
The owners have gone above and beyond what is required starting with a lovely welcome pack, great local information (including menus for local eateries), there are bicycles to use, a lovely garden and a bbq. It's a lovely place and I would book it again without hesitation.

"The house is very clean, stylish and well equipped and provides the perfect base for exploring the local area."
We particularly appreciated use of the local guidebooks and OS maps and did several beautiful walks in Galloway Forest as well as visit the artist town of Kirkcudbright. The owners made you feel very welcome and provided a generous welcome pack on your arrival. An excellent property.

"Story Cottage is perfect for a couple visiting Wigtown and the surrounding area."
The house is immaculate and the kitchen is very well equipped. It's always a relief to find proper sharp knives! A nice Welcome pack was provided. The bedroom is generous and the bathroom well designed. Good sized garden too. The owners live nearby and are extremely pleasant and helpful. There's plenty to see and do locally and a bit further afield. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Story Cottage without hesitation.

"Lovely cottage."
Good location for seeing around the local area. The Italian restaurant The Pheasant at Sorbie is well worth a visit.
-
"This is a beautifully done up and tasteful cottage to stay in, right in the centre of Wigtown ."
Immaculately presented. A generous welcome pack from Julie and George. A large and comfortable bedroom and other facilities well provided for within the cottage. Having immediate access to a modest garden to eat 'al fresco', particularly in light of recent fine weather. Access to bicycles in the shed. A lovely cottage for a couple to stay and quiet. It allows you to go east or west in equal measure to see what Dumfries & Galloway offers to enjoy. A 10 out of 10 property. Mark.
-
"A very comfortable house and very clean."
We don’t like kitchen stools and the setee and chair was a little low for us to get out of but that’s just an age thing
-
"Nice little place with all that you want and need"
-
"Lovely cottage, well provisioned!"
Very convenient for the bookshops and local walks and wildlife. Very helpful and caring host.

"Absolutely lovely hosts and their cottage."
Everything you need in a nutshell. It's one of those places that looks unassuming on the outside and cosy but spacious on the inside. Very clean, very well equipped. There are even two adult bikes available for the guests. Brilliant. Wigtown is full of wonderful book shops.
-

"Had a lovely holiday in Story Cottage, having everything you would need."
It was in ideal location in Wigtown for shops and cafes. Wigtown is famous for book shops but also has a supermarket, post office and other lovely shops. Enjoyed sitting in the garden, walking to Bladnoch distillery, driving around coastline. Wigtown is in a perfect location. Go!

"An excellent cottage in a a really good spot."
Everything was very good and more than expected. The owners were on hand to help when we needed it. They were very helpful and it was good to know they were so close and knew some very good local knowledge. We have recommended it to friends already.

"A perfect place for couples like us."
The property was bigger than we expected and was really comfortable and well thought out with everything we needed. A daily walk to the co op just down the road provided everything we needed. We enjoyed a day browsing the bookshops in Wigtown. The coastal roads in the area were lovely, parking was free everywhere we visited and everyone made us feel very welcome.
-
"An excellent clean and well maintained cottage."
Julie the owner also left a wonderful welcome parcel, after a 6 hour journey it was nice to relax with a lovely coffee. The cottage is 2mins from the town centre with all its book shops, cafés and a very friendly pub. I would highly recommend this cottage.
-
"Story Cottage is a first class self catering property."
It is compact, clean, comfortable and very well equipped and I thoroughly enjoyed staying there. I enjoy visiting Dumfries and Galloway and found Wigtown to be a good base to explore the Galloway Forest Park. The super Welcome Basket was a very kind thought and much appreciated!
-
"Smashing wee cottage in Wigtown."
Very clean and an excellent welcome pack on arrival. Lovely comfortable bed. Only one complaint was the rather uncomfortable settee. Wigtown is a nice village, co-op 2 minute walk away, friendly pub 5 minute walk. Good restaurant in the village but plenty of nice eating places in the area.Dumfriesshire has a lot of smashing scenery and some lovely drives. All in all a very relaxing week.
-
"A really lovely little cottage, with everything you need for a shot stay and some really nice extras to enhance your stay even more."
Julie and George should be very proud of what they have achieved with the cottage Would have loved to have made use of the cycles provided, but the weather was unsuitable.
-
"Lovely cosy, comfortable cottage - lovely welcome pack and very enjoyable stay."
Mattress was a bit too soft for us - but that's just personal preference - there was everything we needed and the cottage was very welcoming to come back to at the end of the day. Wigtown had a lot to offer in terms of cafes and shops, This area is a very pleasant place to explore and unlike Wigtown, the rest of the area was very uncommercialised!
-
"Fantastic stay in a great little cottage."
This was a very late booking but communication from Julie was almost instant and was very clear. Julie very kindly put together a welcome pack for my arrival which was greatly appreciated. The cottage is very well suited to one or two people…very well equipped, warm on a cold winter’s night, and spacious. Parking on the street was straightforward and the cottage is very peaceful. Good Wi-Fi and lots of other little technological extras! Didn’t use the garden but it is large and well looked after. All-in-all, I would highly recommend this cottage!
-
"Story Cottage is very comfortable and was a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area which is stunning."
Cottage has been recently refurbished and had everything we needed for our holiday, including secure bike storage in the garden shed. Julie provided lots of thoughtful touches including a generous Welcome Pack, fresh flowers and day to day essentials. We really enjoyed our stay and the opportunity to get to know this unspoilt corner of Scotland. Many thanks.

"Very comfortable one-bedroom cottage on the beautiful coastline of Dumfries and Galloway."
A very friendly couple owning the cottage, who made me feel very welcome with a very nice and generous welcome pack. I shall probably return within the next year or two; the area has much to commend it and there's a lot I haven't yet explored. Thank you very much. David Ireland
