  • "Lovely grounds to the house and absolutely amazing views."

The sheep, alpacas and chickens were a great bonus - little one loved these! However, the cottage itself wasn't exactly clean. There was still hair in the shower from those who stayed before us and the floor was dirty downstairs. There wasn't a washing machine in the cottage as stated on the listing and a bit more info on the surrounding area e.g. restaurants, things to do etc as a welcome pack would have been nice. Overall, it was okay but needs a serious deep clean.

Hi Stephanie Thank you very much for your feedback and all the lovely things you have mentioned about the property. I am glad your little ones enjoyed the various animal we keep. Regarding your concerns- we do provide washing machine, tumble dryer and extra fridge and freezer. They are located in the adjacent garage. This information is conveyed to each guest through the checkin in details and also in the information pack kept in the barn. When in doubt, you are very welcome to contact us. We are available in person, phone call, text or e mail. I take your concern regarding the cleanliness very seriously. Since after your visit, we have tightened the procedure and protocols around cleaning so much so that some guests in recent reviews on other website have mentioned terms like 'pristine' and "spotless". We used to provide info. regarding things to do and places to eat in the past but we noticed that the guests prefer to sort their own activities out and book restaurants of their own choice through google. We have therefore discontinued this. Thank you once again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "The house was nice and the views were wonderful, the house hadn’t seen a duster or polish in a while, kitchen area very small."

Shower broke whilst in use, but was replaced the same day. Needs another mirror upstairs and a clothes rail in both rooms, had to go up and down stairs to get dressed do hair and makeup as the mirror was in the living area. The football table was not there as shown in the photos. Welcome book had nothing in, could have provided some info on the area, take away menus or even somewhere for guest to leave recommendations on where to go/eat. It could also include the price list to hire the hot tub (which are overpriced) Overall it wasn’t bad but would not return. I will say they communicated well via email and very kindly posted an item I left behind. But would have been nice for them to say hello and come and speak in person as the house is literally on their back garden.

About the location

TARVIN

Chester 6 miles.

Tarvin is a bustling village just 6 miles from historic Chester. Tarvin boasts several shops, good pubs serving food and a wine bar bistro. Nearby Delamere Forest and Manley Mere offer activities for those who enjoy more of the outdoor life. Chester has been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England' - Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a small area there is evidence of every period of history; from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed town houses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The City has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping, the famous 'Rows', and lovely walks within the city boundaries - around the old Roman Walls, along The Groves beside the River Dee or through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, and the market towns and villages of Cheshire, are all within easy touring distance, whilst the nearby Wirral Peninsula has many splendid courses to tempt the golfing enthusiast.
