Excellent location for walking distance to Chester centre, pleasant 15 min stroll along the river path. Property in quiet residential area, added bonus of a hot tub in a very secluded garden, which we made full use of once back from a busy day exploring Chester. Gaynor the host is lovely and welcoming, although I didn't meet her, I spoke with her on the phone and she helped with a few questions about eating out/directions etc. We would definitely retun to this property when visiting Chester again .

The hot tub is not to be missed, especially after a long day’s walking. There is no designated parking space, but there is lots of free on street parking close by. The cottage is situated just on the outskirts of Chester, but within an easy 15 minute level walk, along the canal right into the city centre. There are lots of transport links to Liverpool, and the north Welsh coast. You will also be spoiled for choice with regards to cafes, pubs and restaurants. Regards, Robert and Elizabeth. April 2024.

Would love to know more about the history. Bit surprised at first that it was on such a busy road but soon got used to the traffic. We were also a bit disappointed that the walk to the town was along a main noisy road but then found, at the top of our road, the tow path along the canal which runs parallel to the main road and that was great. Peaceful with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go - town, walls, bus station, cafes along the waterside where you can sit and watch the barges and the world go by in peace without the noise of traffic. The holiday ticked all our boxes - thank you.

  • "What a lovely cottage."

We had the most relaxing week here. Living area really cosy, bed super comfy. Hot tub was great and although right on a main road it was completely private and outdoor seating made garden the perfect chill out area. 5 mins walk to nearby pubs and further 5mins to further bars and main shopping area. Nearby walks along river Dee and Chester zoo only 10mins by car so great location for everything. House really clean which was reassuring during current situation. Def recommend.

  • "The holiday was originally booked for May but due to the current climate had to be moved which was easy to do and we didn't need to contact Sykes as they provided all the information needed."

The cottage was exactly as described and was so lovely and cosy, even when the weather was wet we felt able to relax inside which was a bonus. The owner was fantastic with communication and all the little personal touches around the cottage added to the honely feel. Parking information was possibly a little out dated as the car park recommended for overnight parking seems to have changed the ticket machines and as such we couldn't find a way to park overnight without having to get up at 6.59am when the parking charges kicked back in, thankfully we always managed to park on the road so it wasn't a problem.

We were made to feel welcome before we even arrived by messages and a call from Gaynor. This continued throughout our stay with Gaynor happy to answer any questions. • "An absolute gem of a cottage!"

Just about everything you could want for self-catering in the kitchen, from crockery to cutlery, to pots and pans. The island makes eating in the kitchen a must, as well as providing the luxury to sit down whilst cooking. A large size fridge and freezer means you have plenty of room to store fresh or frozen food at the right temperature. Those little must haves are in abundance - hooks on bathroom doors and by the hot tub to hang gowns and towels on, shelves in the shower cubicle to put requirements on, bedside tables, tables in sitting room for those relaxing drinks, etc. If anything is amiss, Gaynor is on hand almost immediately to put things right. She is also very open to receiving feedback as to how she could improve the cottage further. The hot tub in the sheltered garden is perfect and was well used. The cottage itself is on a busy road at times but within walking distance of Chester town centre, which can be reached by roadway or canal towpath. There is no carparking space with the cottage, but plenty of free, unrestricted parking on the road nearby. The position of the cottage does not detract from its suitability at a good price. We would definitely recommend a visit.

It is superbly located to walk into Chester to see all the sights (and in the lead up to Christmas with the Christmas market, Cathedral etc, it is a magical place to be!) The cottage itself is charming and extremely well furnished. The lounge is really cosy complete with Woodburner which we made use of, the kitchen is ultra modern and very well equipped, the huge bathroom is stunning and the bedroom is beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed. The hot tub was just the icing on the cake after a day out in Chester and it was fabulous to relax in it, gazing up at the stars on crisp cold nights. Perhaps what sets Elv cottage apart from other 5 star cottages is the owner, Gaynor. She was so accommodating with every aspect of our booking and nothing was too much trouble. About the location

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
