"Super little cottage, lovely and cosy and very clean."
Great to have an air fryer and slow cooker. The shower wasn’t that powerful, maybe we are spoilt having a power shower at home. We had a problem with the dishwasher on the last couple of days and informed the owner who said he would get it sorted. The cottage is in an ideal place for visiting further into Wales. We visited the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, Chester Zoo and also Oswestry Iron Sculpture Park. Plenty of walks around the area. Would certainly consider coming back.

"The cozy house has everything you need for a vacation."
The location is perfect for excursions in all directions. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable.
-
"We absolutely loved the cottage."
The settee is low so if you’re like us (getting on a bit) watch your knees. Fantastic kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Once we got our bearings it’s a great central place to visit quite a few lovely places including some excellent friendly eating establishments. The locals are friendly and helpful all in all we had a fabulous time.
-
"Lovely cottage, had everything we needed."
Only criticism was back yard had really strong smell of dog wee so we didn't go out there at all. Would definitely stay again
-

It had everything we needed and was extremely clean and tidy. Thank you so much!

"Nice property in a good location ,lovely views from the front ,it just needs ..."
Nice property in a good location ,lovely views from the front ,it just needs some tlc it feels tired ,the towels were small and rather threadbare, the cutlery and mugs weren't clean ,which isn't down to the owner but we had to wash them all ,before using ,it was nice to have tea coffee and sugar provided
thanks for your response. We've looked into this and replaced towels. our apologies for this.i assumed guests would wash and put cups and cutlery away clean but we now check them every changeover.but glad you had a nice stay and thanks again for the feedback. Property Owner

"My husband was playing golf in nearby Wrexham so needed somewhere to stay."
The house had everything you would need for a self catering stay. Ian the owner was on hand if you needed anything and gave us useful information of the area. None of the local pubs served food but we were recommended the holly bush inn in llay which is only just down the road…. excellent meal. We have no hesitation in recommending Ian’s home
many thanks for the feedback and for being such lovely guests. we hope to accommodate you again in the future. Ian ☺️ Property Owner

"A beautifully appointed cottage which had everything you needed for a comfortable stay."
I liked the “ treat the cottage as your home maxim”. It made us feel very welcome and relaxed.

"Really lovely cottage."
Well appointed and just as described. Excellent communication. Beautiful area. Will definitely be back!
-
"Perfect place for me and the kids, cosy and well equipped, we had an excellent stay."
Ian is very responsive and helpful, one of the best hosts I've experienced and I've used Sykes for years. Only advice to potential guests is make sure your car handbrake is in top condition and be prepared for driving steep roads.

"This was a great place to stay in a really good location."
The house was generally very comfortable and had mostly everything we needed. Just a couple of minor points including that the kitchen was mostly well equipped but was missing a few things - like glasses/tumblers for 4 people. The house is obviously well loved and has been previously finished to a high standard but could perhaps do with a little TLC in places now.
-
"Lovely area & house, had a very relaxing time here."
-
"The cottage was absolutely lovely, very comfortable and welcoming, and the little touches like tea and coffee and washing powder etc all being provided was much appreciated (as was the vast collection of DVD's!"
). We briefly met the owner and he was lovely as well. Wonderful location to use as a base camp to explore the rest of the area too.
-
"The property was great."
We had a fantastic break. Great location for exploring the surrounding area. One thing that puzzled me though. Every morning there was one dead wasp at the same window in the kitchen and we could not work out where it came from. I could not see a nest however and saw none flying around. We would return for another visit as we felt comfortable in this cottage. Thanks for having us.

"A great little cottage perfect for us and our dog Misty."
Ian the host was very helpful when we had an issue with the hob and also allowed us to take some refrigerated items into the cottage several hours before check in time. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. Not a brilliant selection of glasses but we made do . I found the mattress on the double bed quite uncomfortable but that was my personal choice. The kitchen area was a little small but manageable. Three of the four pubs around the village were open at various times but one wouldn’t allow dogs inside and none of them did food. This meant we had to use the car in the evenings to find somewhere suitable. Overall a very enjoyable week made better by the good weather we were lucky to have.

"Lovely cosy cottage."
Very central location for lots of places to visit. Great field over the road for the dogs.
-
"Gorgeous little cottage, perfect for myself and my husband."
Good facilities. Ian very attentive via text, made us feel very welcome. Would recommend.
-
"The house was lovely and surprisingly spacious."
Clean and well maintained. Definitely recommend it. Only slight problem, the house was very clean but there was a lot of dust on the walls and windowsills. A little hoover would probably do the job. A couple of us struggled as we are allergic to dust but except that the house is lovely.
-
"Great little cottage with easy access to walks, facilities and local pubs."
Local dog walk. Turn right out of yh cottage up the hill then left at the bungalows. Through the woods and either right at the track junction across the fields and back to the cottage or straight on to a local pub.
-
"We had a lovely few days at the cottage."
It was perfect for the two of us & our dog - his first holiday. The cottage is very cosy, with everything you need for a comfortable break. We will definitely be returning & wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

"We stayed at this cottage during freshers week, while settling our son at University."

It is a lovely base to explore north Wales and surrounding areas. The owner is helpful, was very accommodating to our needs and was a great host. We shall return, as we enjoyed our stay.

"The property was nice and cool through the hot weather and a good size."
The bed was ok but could be improved and a few more plates and decent cutlery would be good. Just needs a bit of TLC. The owner was helpful though.
Thanks for the feedback Cara and glad your enjoyed your stay. We've had new beds which as firmer and a new cutlery selection. Appreciate you letting us know as without this we can't make improvements. Kind regards. Ian. Property Owner
-
"Ian the owner was very nice, he text me on the day to welcome us to the cottage and to say if we needed anything to text him and he would sort it."
I struggled to pull the bedroom blind down, so I text Ian and he popped in to fix it, I felt that this was no trouble at all for Ian. So thank you Ian
-
"It was a very lovely stay the owner was very helpful but i think it would be great if the owner added few more dinner sets and the most important thing was the mattress was very uncomfortable had a chat with the owner he was thinking to change the mattress soon if yes then would definitely return again."
Hi. Thanks for taking the time to feedback to us. We've sorted the bed issue and it's much firmer now with a new mattress. We've added more cutlery and plate sets. Appreciate you letting us know so we can make improvements.was lovely to meet you and would be great to have you back. Ian. Property Owner

"This is a lovely little hidden gem of a property."
Perfect location for exploring North Wales and Chester. Very cosy, clean and has everything you need. Very quiet road with great off road parking. Owner was very thoughtful and left a welcome pack of basic staples (tea, coffee, milk, juice) also great communication and nothing was too much trouble. We are already looking for when we can revisit. Highly recommended
-
"Lovely quiet house with close link to wrexham, chester and llangollen."
Perfect as a base for a long weekend away. All amenities you'd expect in a holiday cottage.

"Unhygienic hovel is the best way to describe this shack."
Ideal if you are looking for a low grade rental where the owner doesn't mind dogs messing the property. Upon arrival we found the last renters poo in the toilet, dog wee on the living room floor, kitchen had clearly not been cleaned as sink was filthy, cups needed washing, floors had not been hoovered or mopped (I'd say not in a long time as dirt was caked on to the hardwood floor). Shower looked like a breeding ground for bacteria. Bedding had actually been changed and the cleaner had left two penguin bars out for us! ......
Our cleaners spend between 4 and 6 hours here between guests and are very thorough. I was the last person in that cottage doing painting 2 days prior to your arrival and I had a double check everything was in order. I left you biscuits and coffee out for a refreshment after your journey and your first complain to Sykes was you didn't like the open front garden and wanted to move and Sykes couldn't find you anywhere. I rang and text you the 2nd day to check everything was ok and no reply or answer so to conclude....the cottage wasn't in a bad state it's just you'd booked something you wanted to change and because you couldn't you've written a nasty review. I've reported you to Sykes for this as there's not a chance this was the case of poor hygiene.the floor is clean and is having a revarnish in 3 weeks as the varnish is lifting from lots of wet mopping but it's certainly not dirty.i know if I was renting somewhere and I had the owners direct number if phone immediately with any issues.not several days in. "Good accommodation that welcomes dogs."
Great country parks close by and a very useful small field that makes up for no garden. I look forward to returning when visiting North Wales.
-
"Just arrived home from what felt like home, would recommend this lovely cottage to any family, our little girls loved it so much they want to live there!"
-
"Lovely comfortable cottage, in an ideal location to get to the main sites like Chester, Liverpool without being too close."
The owner was very helpful thoughout our stay. It had everything we needed including off road parking for two large cars, washing machine, smart tv with Netflix etc and excellent WiFi connection so that I was able to work remotely.
-
"Thanks for a lovely stay!"
A great home with a big living space! Owner was friendly and kept in touch via text during our stay. We hope to stay again in the future ☺️
-
"We had a fab holiday."
Cottage was lovely and in a super location. Plenty of nice walks nearby. Local pubs friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
-
"It’s a very nice property."
I had contact with the owner Ian and any problem, he was on the end of his phone. I did give Ian feedback on a little something that needs attention but other then that it was a home from home.

"My family and I had a lovely stay at this cottage in N."
Wales. It is in a really good location for lots of attractions within 30 minutes from every direction. Very tastefully decorated and in keeping with a cottage feel to it. The owner was extremely helpful with my questions and even set-up a Netflix account for the cottage which for us was a bonus in the evenings (especially as I had recently cancelled our accounts at home). For anyone wanting to stay with dogs, just to let you know (as it isn’t listed in the information provided by Sykes, and I had to phone up to ask), there is a small backyard that is enclosed and was absolutely adequate for our dog. Also, there was plenty of essentials such as dishwasher tabs, washing tabs, salt and pepper, bin bags etc. I do wish Sykes would list what is at their cottages, so that it helps the customer prepare and pack without duplication. The only things I would recommend to the owner is to provide a few more plates and bowls. There were only four of each, and as a family of four staying, these were all used for breakfast and also a cutlery basket for the dishwasher. Overall, a wonderful stay for myself and my family.
-
"The cottage is deceptively spacious and although the kitchen is small it has everything you would need for an extended stay."
The location is perfect for exploring the borders and North Wales. There are an abundance of walks on the doorstep and the views are spectacular especially from the top of the hill up from the cottage. My husband and I and our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay here and would highly recommend it.
-
"Well equipped and comfortable cottage with some character."
Located within easy reach of Snowdonia, the coastal towns and numerous places to visit. Also good walking locally. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book it again.
-
"Have already spoken with the very helpful owner to make him aware of cleanliness issues and a few maintenance items."
Could use a waste food caddy in kitchen as well. BBQ is rusty and not usable. Needs some critical appraisal. Cleaning should be excellent and isn’t. If things are there, they should work.
-
"Lovely cottage with all amenities needed for a comfort break would highly recommend a stay hear."

About the location
BRYMBO
Brynteg 1.5 miles; Gwynfryn 3.2 miles; Wrexham 4.8 miles.
Brymbo is a large village in Wrexham, Wales. It is situated just under five miles away from the bustling town centre of Wrexham, offering a variety of distinctive shops and a selection of fine pubs and restaurants. Historically, the village dates back to the Bronze Age, with evidence having been discovered regarding a burial site in 1958. The site was found alongside a flint knife and an earthenware beaker and the remains of a man they named 'Brymbo Man'. While historical buildings are in short supply in this village, there are a few which are of industrial archaeological interest. This attractive town makes an inspiring choice from which to further explore the surrounding regions of Cheshire and Wales.
