  • "A cosy cottage right in the centre of Chester with a great view of the Tower on the city walls."

Communication with the owner was good, especially around cheap parking options. A welcome pack including cheese, milk and Prosecco was most welcome. Would love to stay again.

Lovely to have you at the cottage, Diane. Thanks for leaving it so clean too. Do come back! Property Owner

  • "Impressive use of space in what is a small house."

Nicely furnished and instructions provided at key points in the form of stickers and small notices. The back yard has a view of a loop of the canal and a section of Roman wall with the tower. You can see a whole geological progression while watching the canal boats go past. Ducks and moorhens nest a bit further down the canal by Cow Bridge.

  • "Excellent property with lots of charm!"

It was clean and comfortable with everything you could ever need. The welcome tray of wine, cheese and biscuits was such a treat! The cottage was just a short walk from the city centre and everything Chester has to offer (the walls, the river, and fabulous shops, restaurants cafes' etc). The courtyard backdrop looked across the canal to the Kings Tower and it was delightful just to sit, relax and enjoy the view after a busy day of taking in all the sights. Also close at hand was the bus station which was handy for our trip to Chester Zoo, and the short walk to the train station gave us the opportunity to head to Llandudno for the day. All in all, we thoroughly recommend this property!

Ideal location just on the edge of the city. A small but very well designed house with everything you could need. We especially liked that the kitchen was usable to cook full meals. The living area is very comfortable, the shower room has a GREAT shower. Perfect for a couple or with one young teen. ( the steps are quite steep and narrow not great for very young or elderly in my opinion.)

  • "We had a lovely time at Tower View Cottage."

The cottage is so characterful and the location is perfect. The icing on the cake is the wonderful little terrace garden which looks out onto King Charles Tower, the ancient city walls and the canal. My son and I felt so privileged to be there (we normally reside in very unpicturesque London). We wanted to go out more but couldn't drag ourselves away from the view! The cottage owner is lovely and obviously really cares about her guests. Perfect.

I should have mentioned to the owner that the TV seems to freeze all the time. Tried changing remote batteries but didn't resolve the issue.

Sorry about the TV, Katharine. Could you let me know when this happens, on live TV or on playback? No one else has mentioned it and we have not found a problem ourselves. Thanks in advance. Property Owner

Parking was in a paid car park - we used the Delamare car park at £7.50 for a day and overnight . Only downside - very noisy in the double bedroom at night especially Friday and Saturday when loud shouting went on to the early hours!! Location virtually opposite the bus station which was good for travelling by bus but also perhaps the source of the noise at night . Having said that we loved the cottage and the south facing courtyard garden . The owner was very friendly and left us food , milk and wine to welcome us . We had a very enjoyable stay

  • "Great location with the centre of Chester within 2-minute walking distance."

The rear patio area is fabulous in the sunshine as it looks out on the walls of Chester but you don't feel over looked. The property is very well equipped, clean and idea for a 2/3 visitors and a bottle of Prosecco was waiting for us on arrival which was a nice touch. The owner has gone to all the trouble of putting little notes around the property about how things work so you don’t have to trawl through a long how to guide. To the front you are close to the Bus station which was a bit noisy but I’d trade this for the rear view any day. If anything, it encouraged us to use the bus to go Chester Zoo which was only 20mins away! Highly, recommend this property for anyone able bodied (the steps out front are a bit tricky).

It is well positioned to access all areas of the city. There are numerous eateries and pubs nearby. The only downside was the parking - free overnight parking 9pm - 8am outside the cottage only. Once we’d got our bearings there was a reasonable pay on foot car park a short walk away, which was ideal.

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
