  • "I don’t normally give 5 stars but Kingfisher Chalet and its wonderful owners,Gaynor and Andrew certainly have earned top marks’."

The Chalet is beautifully appointed, designed, exquisitely decorated and furnished and is in an idyllic location. The welcome drinks of Prosecco and beer,as well as the beautiful welcome bouquet of flowers set the tone.Unfortunately our vacation started with a bit of drama as my husband became ill on day 2 and needed to be bluelighted to the nearest hospital.Gaynor and Andrew came immediately to help guide the emergency services to the chalet.Over the next 2-3 days they ferried me back and forth as I didn’t know the area. They kept in touch and went above and beyond the normal boundaries of hospitality. 5 star plus hosts!

Thank you so much for your kind words, we were just so sorry that your stay wasn't as we had all expected it would be. We hope that things have returned to normal for you both and that you have the opportunity to return at some point for an uneventful, relaxing and enjoyable stay. With thanks and very best wishes from the Kingfisher team. Property Owner

  • "Kingfisher Lodge is really beautiful even though we had the most awful weather we will be booking the lodge in the future."

The owners have put such a great deal of thought into the Lodge to make it a great place to stay. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome such lovely touches of fresh fruit and flowers prosecco and beers for the boys even an air fryer!! The chalet is also furnished to a very high standard. The location of the chalet is just a few minutes from the lovely village of Farndon with two great pubs The Raven and The Hare.

Thank you so much for looking after the chalet so well and for your wonderful feedback in spite of the really awful weather that you had!! We really hope that you get the chance to return to experience some warm summer sunshine whilst sitting on the balcony gongoozling! (watching a body of water)!! Catching sight of the elusive Kingfisher! With heartfelt thanks, the Kingfisher team. Property Owner

  • "Great stay in lovely chalet, despite the weather, beautiful views."

Gaynor, Andrew and Emma could not have been more helpful, friendly and accomodating. Special mention to Emma's father in law for clearing the fallen tree that was blocking the track. Good arrival info given and easy to contact if needed. Perhaps what's expected when vacating could be added to the info booklet, we couldn't find anything and went on what we'd done in other properties. Just a couple of things in the kitchen I would add, as I like to cook, but only minor. A potato masher, slotted spoon utensil and an extra smaller sized saucepan I would find helpful. I hope one day they are able to get mains water and install a washing machine. Then it would be perfect!

Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate guests taking the time to comment. Such a shame about the weather but we're glad that you still enjoyed your stay. We will certainly look at adding some departure info and adding the items you have mentioned. We are continuing our endeavours for mains water connection and have now enlisted the help of the local MP. Many thanks once again - the Kingfisher team. Property Owner

  • "Kingfisher Chalet is in an idyllic location on the banks of the River Dee and only a ten minute walk along the river into Farndon, which has two great pubs with delicious food."

The chalet is extremely comfortable, very well equipped and exceptionally tastefully furnished. The view from the living room onto the river and beyond is just gorgeous! Communication with the hosts Gaynor and Andrew both at the point of booking and then in person was excellent; they're lovely people. We'd book again in a heartbeat - it's a lovely place into which the hosts have put a lot of care. 100% recommended to anyone wanting to visit this lovely part of the country.

Thank you for being such considerate guests, your wonderful review means so much to us all. We really appreciate it when you enjoy being here as much as we do! We look forward to meeting up with you once again. With heartfelt thanks from the Kingfisher team. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful chalet, so peaceful and quiet."

We had whole days not going out, just relaxing and watching the wildlife. The squirrels have a route through the trees right in front of the main windows to the feeder and the apple tree. Comfortable beds and sofa and everything clean and fresh.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you had the chance to relax and recharge. I know we are biased but there is something very special about being in the environment and so close to the river! Look forward to seeing you both again soon. The Kingfisher team. Property Owner

  • "Great stay - the place was even bigger than the pictures led us to believe."

Lots to do in the area, birdwatching was a personal favourite. The entire place feels like a home away from home. Would be an absolute 5 star experience if not for two small issues - one being no internet, and second being the shower would oscillate between too hot and too cold no matter how we positioned the taps. When these are fixed we'd love to return as the place and location are both absolutely gorgeous - and so peaceful through all times of day. Very private with a lovely river view and yet within just a 5-10 minute walk of the local towns. Just the sound of birds to keep us company - we even saw a woodpecker.

Thank you for your feedback, as explained on arrival, the Internet issues are down to Openreach having to replace new underground cable damaged in the recent floods. Unfortunately they have let us down on 4 occasions now. We are currently looking into an alternative solution. We have reacted quickly to your observations regarding the shower and have installed a new pump which will eradicate those problems. Thank you for being such appreciative guests in our lovely chalet and for looking after it so well during your stay. We look forward to seeing you again! Property Owner

About the location

FARNDON

Chester 10 miles; Llangollen 19 miles.

The village of Farndon nestles quietly near the River Dee, approximately 10 miles south of Chester. The village was an important place historically and has been a site of conflict and cultural exchange since the Angles settled in the area in the 8th century. The border moved numerous times during the following centuries, placing Farndon alternately in Wales and England. Today visitors will find splendid little shops, as well as welcoming pubs, ideal for relaxing in with friends and family. Why not visit the Roman city of Chester with its famous 'Rows', excellent shopping and celebrated zoo? For those who like walking and outdoor activities, Snowdonia National Park is only a couple of hours drive away and is ideal for days out. Farndon is the perfect base from which to enjoy this beautiful and exciting region.
