"A lovely apartment, very nicely furnished and equipped, in a lovely part of Chester."
The velux windows meant the apartment was a pleasant airy space even though our stay was during very hot weather. It made a very good base for our stay in Chester - thank you very much.
Thank you very much for your lovely comments. It does make a big difference having such good feedback Property Owner

"Fabulous 2bedroomed loft -nice and quiet all the facilities we needed and exceptionally clean."
Bus stop 4 mins walk away or city centre about 25 mins . Close to the motorway to North Wales . We had a day in Liverpool on the train via bus from outside property straight to the station and regular trains. Next day we travelled to the North Welsh coast by car very easy . Last day a morning in Chester walking the walls and shopping and eating -very enjoyable. Will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone I know .
I am delighted by your review of Dragon's Den. I upgraded the fixtures and fittings recently to enhance its appeal so I do appreciate your comments. Thanks you so much Property Owner

"The property was very clean and had plenty of room."
Ideally place for Chester Town and very quiet. The owner, Chris , was friendly and helpful. The only thing I can say on a personal like/dislike is I found the Sofa really uncomfortable. Just my opinion. Everything else was great . We all had a great stay . I would definitely recommend.

"We found Dragons Den comfortable and cosy, and in a good location, however it has only one window which was locked and there was not a key to open it, on a warm day it would have been nice for a breath of fresh air."
All the windows do open. There are three velux windows where you just pull down the handle and they swing open. The other window by the curtains you just push in the button Sorry this was a problem but pleased you enjoyed Dragon's Den Property Owner

"We enjoyed our stay at this property."
It was an easy 20/25 minutes walk into Chester or to Saltney to the local shops. Bus stop not far if raining. The place was comfortable, TV ok, plenty of hot water/ towels. As previously mentioned the sloping ceilings can be a hazard for some people. There is some traffic noise but not too bad with the windows closed. Just a few minor issues, some of the cutlery in the drawer had to be washed again. The cupboard under the sink was a bit greasy. Which we cleaned. Otherwise the place was clean. We would have appreciated more washing up liquid as there was no dishwasher. The owner was very pleasant. We would stay again if visiting Chester.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and would come again. I'm sorry about the cutlery issue . I will ensure more care is taken in the future, Property Owner

"We found Dragon's Den very clean and comfortable and convenient for visiting Chester city centre as the buses were available just a few hundred yards away."
The hairdryer wasn't very powerful so it took longer to dry my hair. The only other comment I'd like to make was the road noise which was stated on website but it was constant and as it was very hot while we visited we needed the windows open. Apart from that it was a very pleasant stay.
Just to clarify - the bus stop for town is only a few yards away , not hundreds. Property Owner

"Settee needs replacing it was like sitting on a brick."
Other than that everything else was great.
Thank you for your feedback. As it happens settee is due for replacement shortly so that was unfortunate. I'm glad everything else was great and hope overall you found Dragon's Den value for money. Property Owner

"Lovely flat."
Very close to regular bus service into the city. Quiet area, lovely gardens to sit in. Will return.
I'm delighted you enjoyed Chester and Dragon's Den and look forward to seeing you again. Many thanks Property Owner

"Was in the area for work and this property was perfect."
Nice and clean, good location to few local shops etc. When we had a day off it was a 25 minute walk into Chester centre or around £5 for a taxi. If working in the area again hopefully this property will be available.
Its great to read such pleasing comments on your stay at Dragon's Den and Chester. Many thanks Property Owner

"DVD player mentioned on the listing was missing and rubbish disposal instructions need updating, A lamp to give softer light in the lounge would be great as would a suitable dish to use in the microwave."
Property very clean and tidy. N.B The property is on the opposite side of the city to Chester station which has a frequent service to Liverpool etc. So a bit of a hike to walk, especially at the end of a day out.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry about the DVD issue. The DVD player and CDs had been removed some time ago from the cottage description, but unfortunately had been left in the summary. Property Owner

"We were asked to park car on the road."
Dragon's Den can only offer (unrestricted) on-street parking. This is stated on the property profile. There is normally sufficient parking . Property Owner

"We loved our stay at Dragons Den, the property is very comfortable & is like home from home!"
Very well situated to visit Chester & the surrounding area. Would highly recommend

"We had a very comfortable stay at Dragons Den."
Everything worked as you would want it to, wifi was fast, TV was good, etc. It is well situated for walking around Chester.
-
"Lovely apartment, friendly host, beautiful walks along river and in Grosvenor Park."
Watched as Chester shut down day by day, but Dragon's Den was a welcome sanctuary. Would have loved to stay longer but would have become fugitives! Great holiday, sadly the last anyone will have for a very long time.
-
"I loved how the Dragon's Den felt very much like home with its beautiful house decor, beautiful natural lighting, cleanliness and its peaceful location."
The host, Mike, was very kind to my boyfriend and I, and we appreciated his advice about the more scenic routes to get to the city center and his homely touches in the house. It was an excellent stay and we highly recommend it!
-
"Lovely self contained apartment which is very well equipped."
We loved the location, car parking space and being able to have a bath! Perfect for families with young children.
-
"Nice apartment above owners home, you have your own door and this can be locked."
(Own keys). Milk, butter and bread awaits you in the kitchen. Nice touch. We are tall so sloped ceilings were a problem when washing up and getting out of the bath. Lots of hot water, I preferred the Bath to using the shower. Traffic noise starts early, (6am) I am a light sleeper!! Rest of our stay we didn't notice it. Space to hang your clothes, lots of other storage if you need it. Kitchen has all you need. Supermarkets are minutes away in a car, Morrisons, Asda and Aldi. We walked into Chester during our week many times, there is a good bus service if you prefer. Good base for Chester and Wales.

"We enjoyed staying in dragons den some road noise however would go back ..."
We enjoyed staying in dragons den some road noise however would go back Central to everything we wanted to do without having to use the car we walked

"Dragon Den is a lovely accommodation, plenty room everything you need for a holiday We enjoyed the 25min walk into Chester."
Michael Martin the owner was very pleasant, considerate always wondering if we were comfortable. We would definitely recommend this accommodation
-
"Nice cottage."
Very friendly owner.
-
"This is a very nice flat and I highly recommend it."
The only point I would draw to a potential visitor's attention is the low ceilings. I am 5ft 11ins tall and was just about ok with the low ceilings, but if you are over 6ft tall you may have difficulties.
-
"Dragon's Den is central to Chester so easy to walk into the city centre."
It is comfortable and spacious and well stocked with kitchen equipment. The owner, Michael, provided bread, butter and milk, and shower gel, soap and shampoo, together with lots of towels, which was very much appreciated. It was quiet, with a lovely garden, yet on a bus route, so the best of both worlds. I hope to return.

"Great base for visiting Chester."
Very clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities. Apartment is above the owner's House who is very friendly and not at all intrusive. There is a nice garden to sit out in if the weather is nice. It's a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk into Chester centre. The stairs up to the apartment are a little steep if you have severe walking difficulties although I managed them ok with my ms. Close to local shops and food outlets, and supermarkets a 5 minute drive away. As the apartment is an attic conversion there are sloping ceilings in all rooms but I was ok with them, and I'm 6ft 3ins tall. All in all we had a lovely relaxing 4 nights here and will definitely stay here the next time we visit Chester.

"The cottage was perfect for our needs and a nice living space."

"Dragon's Den proved to be an excellent choice."
The accommodation was clean, warm ( on chilly November days ), central to Chester and other tourist attractions. This was our first visit to Chester, having read other reviews which advised walking into the City and following the route info provided in the Dragon's Den information pack, we enjoyed a 20 minute walk to and then from the City. On the second day of our visit, we went to the Ness Botanic Gardens which were stunning, then continued on to Port Sunshine. Where we had an amazing walk seeing the houses, the war memorial, a visit to the Sunshine Museum and the art gallery. While in Chester we went to the tourist office and by chance found a leaflet 'Ultimate Attractions and shopping map' which was so useful and had money off vouchers to lots of places to visit. Dragon's Den was a great base for our stay, near to shops, a good walk to Chester City ( bus stops nearby if you don't want to walk). Clean and warm, we can recommend it. We would definitely book again if we are in the area. Many thanks to Michael for an enjoyable stay at Dragon's Den.
-
"A very well equipped spacious and comfortable apartment in a good location."
Near enough to the city centre to be there in minutes with easy access by car or public transport without the hassle and noise of staying in the centre. Also ideal for visiting North Wales and Liverpool while in the area.
-
"Lovely flat with an easy walk into centre of Chester."
It had all we needed for a comfortable stay. Would highly recommend the flat and we will definitely be back.
-
"Location and facilities were above what we expected, which enabled us to have a very enjoyable and interesting week."

"We booked Dragon's Den as it was one of the closest properties to Chester."
Communications with and from the owner; Michael (via email) were very good just prior to the week or so before our arrival as I needed to check a couple of things. The apartment was ready on arrival and we were extremely impressed with it. It is light, spacious, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Kitchen items included a microwave, halogen oven, numerous pots/pans, array of knives and glasses. I think there was also a sandwich maker although we didn't use it. There was a 4pt carton of semi skimmed milk, butter and a loaf of freshly sliced bread left for us which was very much appreciated. All towels, tea towels, oven gloves, cleaning items including washing up liquid, liquid hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom, washing powder, anti bacterial spray, bleach and toilet rolls were all provided. We always go well prepared when self catering but it left our pre-packed items redundant! There was also spare bedding if needed and a fan heater and a pedestal fan. There are literally dozens and dozens of tourist information leaflets for not just Chester but surrounding areas, takeaway food menus, bus timetables and an array of books in the lounge including several on the history of Chester. Sadly we didn't get the time to read any of them. There are also books in the main bedroom, a chess set, playing cards and a jigsaw puzzle provided. Michael came to see us shortly after we'd arrived to welcome us and to run through how things worked e.g. the freesat/tv, procedure incase of a fire etc. My husband mentioned that I have fibromyalgia and can get cold so Michael said he'd turn the central heating up. I found the apartment to be nice and warm anyway so did have to turn some of the radiators down on some of the days but this wasn't an issue. Within the "Welcome Information" sheet there is also a suggested walking route into Chester which takes you through a very pleasant residential area. It took us around 25 mins to walk it but we're not fast walkers. Due to the time of year we didn't get the chance to sit out and enjoy the shared garden - there is a small patio area with chairs for your use. We wouldn't hestitate to recommend this apartment and certainly plan to try and return within the next 1-2 years. There is also so much to do in the area and also the surrounding area such as Liverpool that we just didn't fit it all in! Thank you again Michael for a great stay in your apartment.

"This is a very well equipped and comfortable flat with quality fittings etc."
built in to the roof space of the owners house. As a result there are areas where there is not much headroom but this is not a major problem if you remember to duck! It is well situated for buses to and from Chester or it is a pleasant 30 minute walk in to the town along quiet streets and then along the banks of the River Dee. There are supermarkets within a few minutes by car for all your grocery needs. The owner had left milk, butter and bread for us on arrival. Recommended, but mind your head!

"We choose self-catering accommodation for – location, comfort and convenience."
If a place adds style and character that's a nice bonus. The Dragon's Den ticked all the boxes handsomely! It's a very clever (and totally self-contained) loft conversion above the owner Mike's bungalow. The accommodation is spacious, light, airy, and very thoughtfully furnished and equipped. The large living area is welcoming and comfortable, with two big leather sofas plus matching armchair, TV, loads of books, CDs, a classy chess set plus other games, and three drawers full of tourist information. The kitchen is 'compact', but has everything you need for a week (including some good kitchen knives, which are a rarity in holiday lets!) There's a thoughtful supply of kitchen essentials for people like me who manage to forget the teabags. The fridge was stocked with milk and butter, and there was a crusty loaf. Much more useful than the usual little packets of biscuits! The bathroom is a good size, with a bath and separate shower cubicle, and lots of fluffy towels, and some sachets of shampoo in case you have forgotten that as well as the teabags. The two bedrooms have comfy beds and there's plenty of storage space. The décor is cool, clean, stylish, with some very attractive modern oak furniture. It's also quirky, with sloping ceilings (and floor), beams, and a lot of little dragons hiding in the corners. It's near a busy road, but well set back. There's a good bus service from just round the corner into Chester, but Mike's information sheet includes instructions for a very pleasant walking route, along quiet, leafy avenues and lanes. We hadn't visited Chester for twenty five years, it hasn't changed much, still a lovely city. But to see it at its best, avoid Saturday afternoon / evening – unless you appreciate aspiring Footballers' Wives unable to stand up reliably on their heels, let alone walk, and young men with a taste for extreme hairstyling and noisy cars. The rest of the week it's a very civilised place to wander around and soak up the atmosphere! Thanks to Mike for making us feel welcome and at home. We hope to return.

"Michael the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful."
The flat was lovely and we were not disappointed. Sometimes we have been to cottages ( not Sykes cottages) and they do not look anywhere as nice as in the brochures because they have not been decorated since the photos were taken!, Dragons Den was exactly as in the pictures online. We would be happy to recommend it to anyone.
-
"Owner was polite and not overpowering, lovely garden and ideal location."
Their cats are adorable too. Many thanks and hope to return in the future.

"We had a lovely stay at Dragon's Den."
The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Bread, butter and milk was provided for our arrival - a nice touch. The apartment is located close to the centre of Chester, we walked the route suggested by the owner on a couple of occasions and, even with a 4 year old, we were on the main high street within 20 minutes. The apartment was very clean - lovely fresh bed linen, plenty of towels and even soap, washing up liquid and washing powder was provided. We used to apartment as a base to visit Chester Zoo, Llandudno and Liverpool - all within easy reach. We would definitely return to Dragon's Den in the future. 5 * from us!

"We had a fantastic stay at Dragons Den and will definitely visit again."
The apartment is just lovely, every need was catered for. It's very homely with lovely features, making you feel very at home. There is so much to see and do. We didn't have the best weather but that didn't stop us from enjoying our time in Chester, which is about a 15 / 20 minute walk. We also went for a wonder into the little village Saltley which is just over the border (but only a few mins walk) in Wales. Thank you for a lovely stay. *****

Apartment really spacious and had everything you could want.

"The cottage was all we expected and lived up to all the facilities listed."
The location was just right for us and the owners were friendly and accommodating. No hesitation in recommending the cottage or the site.

"The welcome pack (milk, bread, butter etc."
) was a really nice touch and having other consumables available to use was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in Chester and Dragon's Den was a big part of that.
-
"Dragon's Den was a very comfortable and well equipped holiday home."
The owners were very friendly and helpful. There was a good bus service into the centre of Chester and we had a very good week exploring the area.
-
"Friendly host, great position (lovely walks into town, if you avoid main road), very comfy."
Worried that we were disturbing our hosts with creaky floor but were assured this was not the case!
-
"Absolutely an amazing cottage."

About the location
CHESTER
Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.
Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
