  • "The Coach House was wonderful."

It was spacious, stylish, perfectly equipped and really comfortable. We can't thank Clare and Steve enough for their help in making our family get-together so successful - nothing was too much trouble! We loved watching and interacting with the alpacas, as did our grandchildren. We have stayed in rental properties all over the world and this ranks with the best of them.

  • "This was a wonderful place to stay and we hope to be able to return one day."

The owners were always to be found on the farm and were so welcoming and helpful. Such lovely people. The property is very spacious, clean and comfortable and in a lovely location. There are so many places to visit within a short drive and it is such a peaceful and beautiful spot to return to after a day out. Our two very young grandchildren loved the alpacas and the shetland ponies which they could watch from almost every room in the house and they really miss them now we're back home. A couple of practical things to note: 1) The Sykes Cottages website states that the property has a tumble dryer which is not the case. There is a washing machine and a clothes airer is provided. 2) There was no information about recycling at the property when we arrived and when I discovered later that the local authority has very stringent rules on sorting rubbish I felt bad that the owners were going to have to deal with the mixed rubbish we had left. It would be good to have information in the property about what needs to be separated and where. In this country recycling varies so much from one local authority to the next so it would be good to have some guidance on arrival.

Many thanks and pleased enjoyed the stay and the interaction with animals on a daily basis Recycling is mentioned in farm details pamphlet and recycle buckets were provided Flintshire appear to be leaders in recycling and we support that approach - In any event it is good husbandry to separate used nappies, (we made express request in person to be double bagged )bottles, food, plastic and paper - we do not know anywhere that allows this and is being good green citizen - In regard to the tumble drier and iron they are deemed a fire risk due to previous on occasion guests leaving on whilst not in property but facility is available on request note iron was provided on request and two cots ( one requested) were provided . With fantastic weather presume drier facility must have been not required and was not requested in any event .We will give Sykes feedback on tumble drier / facility on request and also give further note to the interaction with animals you mention which is under stated in the Sykes narrative - we hope that absolute unique experience outweighed the points raised which we would have been pleased to help at the time if raised . We loved meeting the alpacas and the very special alpaca trekking session. The house itself was spotless and well equipped. We liked the position of the property and the local walks in the evenings as well as its close proximity to Chester and other places of interest. We had a wonderful week and we would absolutely recommend this property.

The place felt like a home from home. Really spacious and well equipped and we all loved waking up to the alpacas every morning. Clare and Steve were the perfect hosts and fantastic with our two young children. We wouldn't hesitate to come back!

  • "A wonderful place to take a break and get away from it all."

Excellent accommodation, with attentive hosts, and a family of friendly alpacas as your neighbours! A great base from which to explore this corner of North Wales - including the impressive Ewloe Castle nestled in the nearby woodland - and not far away from the border with Cheshire. You can relax in the peaceful surroundings when it suits you, all the while knowing that excellent shopping facilities (such as the nearby Broughton Shopping Park) are not far away. Highly recommended!

The alpacas were an added bonus and we all enjoyed meeting them. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. We hope we can return to Colomendy another year.

  • "We had a great time at the cottage."

The accommodation worked well as a base for our holiday. Two slight downsides were the flies but should have been expected as a farm. Plus no soap in bathrooms.

Dear Guest Many thanks for feedback In regard to soap we do not provide soap in bathroom or shower guest may have allergy skin or eye sensitivity to detergents -there is mild hand wash in separate toilets.flies and insects we are in countryside and if doors left open inevitably some may enter , however there is a dedicated ultra violet fly catcher in kitchen area otherwise - we hope you enjoyed stay and the complimentary. The accommodation was well-appointed, spotless and spacious with the outdoor patio area to the rear directly overlooking the overnight barn for a large group of alpacas. Morning coffee in the sunshine with an alpaca…perfect. This was everything we’d been looking for, for a relaxing family holiday (3 adults and 2 children 7-11) - great setting, really nice cottage and so much to see and do within a short drive. We’d love to visit again.
