  • "A stunning period property that impressed us all."

    We had a lovely weekend away and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Downstairs is huge with loads of room for all. Beds are super comfy. Garden is private/secluded and secure for our dog to,run around in. I can see us returning in the summer to enjoy the outside space more.

    This is a very special building and it was great to spend time here. We enjoyed our stay. The stairs are steep and there are steps between rooms etc.

  • "We had a fantastic time at Y Fferm."

    The property is beautifully presented and had absolutely everything we needed. There a lovely pup about 5 mins walk down the road and some great walks nearby. Our host Richard was fantastic, he was very attentive to everything we needed but also give us space to enjoy our selves. All instructions were clear and easy to follow and check in check-out was a breeze. We had a truly great time. Highly Recommend !!!!

  • "Loved the house and would not hesitate to recommend staying here."

    The only downside being that there was quite a bit of dust and cobwebs in the kitchen particularly. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean though. Overall we had a great stay. The house is stunning and it is an experience in itself staying here!

  • "An usual property that we loved especially the Grandchildren."

    Everything catered for and the owner ensured our stay went without any issues. As highlighted , care must be taken by anyone less mobile due to the age of the property , we was also pleasantly surprised by how warm the rooms kept especially in March.

  • "We had the most wonderful and magical family Christmas at Y Fferm."

    The kitchen was very well equipt, we had all we needed to make the all important big Christmas lunch. Everything was perfect, it was so much fun playing hide and seek in all the nooks and crannies of this lovely historic house. We had a good walk up Moel Famau on Boxing Day. Loggerheads at the bottom of this hill was also great for walks along the river. There is lots to see and do in the local area. The owners were really attentive answering any questions and the place looked so cosy and inviting when we arrived with the Christmas tree lit up. We would recommend to anyone for a lovely relaxing family stay. Thank you.

  • "I have problems with my mobility and found the house not disability friendly."

    The main concern that I had was that the 2 toilets were both on the middle floor and it took a while to climb the 15 steep and uneven steps to reach the middle floor. This could have been highlighted as there being this possible barrier. Otherwise, the other facilities were of a average/good standard.

    Felt really comfortable garden was great for free range kids and dogs loved cooking for the family in the huge kitchen. Hope any money made can be ploughed back into maintaining this house for future generations.

  • "This is a unique building and as a grade one listed Elizabethan manor house, it is very special."

    There are many pluses to this house. The gardens are wonderfully large and great for dogs (there is just one slightly lower part of wall - I didn't think our dogs would get over but the younger one did but only once - I think it is pretty secure). The house was very spacious. And in most cases well equipped. The local pub is great. And the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The owners of the home immediately opposite the manor house are friendly and helpful. But there are disadvantages. There are very many changes of levels in the house - which are a consequence of its age - but if you have any mobility issues whatsoever this is not the house for you. We had originally planned to use the bedroom on the second floor but the stairs were very challenging and at their top there is a beam about knee high which you have to climb over. Given that the two toilets are on the first floor - no one felt it wise to take this bedroom. And my Sister fell in the shower room and sprained her wrist - again a change in level. The home owners clearly listen to feed back so please could you: 1. put out long in-shower/bath mats and shower mats for stepping out on to please? you may also wish to think about how to indicate/highlight a step down 2. The outside furniture needs upgrading. The wooden furniture is in poor state and the rattan style is not great either. A garden dining table plus separate seating would be great please. If you are active and have no mobility issues this is a wonderful house. Very special.

  • "Stayed here with family and friends after our wedding."

    Such a beautiful historic house with lovely gardens. Hands down the most memorable stay we have had. One of our guests got very emotional after sleeping in the bed, she said it was the most comfortable bed she’s ever slept in. Loved eating breakfast round the long table with all the family. It’s been too long since we all did that. The log fire was so cosy. Didn’t want to leave and would love to return one day. Perfect in every way!

  • "A very relaxing stay,a few points to notice,serving spoons would be a help,as a Buffett, with no large spoons rather difficult,a coffee table ,or a few small sofa tables would stop having to put glasses and coffee cups on the floor,not very pleasant,as the fear of knocking them over, always in mind,maybe a nice few lamps in the lounge,rather than those rather large reading lamps,next to the fireplace,quite out of time with the property,all in all a few small changes would make this stay a ten out of ten."

  • "Wow what a fabulous property the building oozes history and the walled garden was great for my little dog who loved pinching raspberries from the bushes."

    We had some fantastic walks and days out, Llangollen was a particular highlight, we also visited Mold market due to the owners recommendation which was fab. My 8 year old niece loved figuring out what the patterns in the cobbles to the house were and can’t wait to go to school and tell her teacher all about it, it would of been nice if the office was a tv snug (my niece didn’t want to be too far away from us so couldn’t watch tv) as this seemed a bit of a wasted space. The fires were so cosy and welcoming with plenty of logs to keep us going. The welcome pack in the fridge was a lovely touch thank you for a fantastic week away.

  • "We have just returned from a week stay at this wonderful historic house."

    We found it to be extremely comfortable and really enjoyed playing with our two dogs in the garden. Orchard and paddock. We visited several local walks and Abergele beach which was amazing. The welcome pack was a great touch too. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Resting on the outskirts of the quaint village of Pontblyddyn is this remarkable Grade I listed holiday home, Y Fferm.

This property has been open to the public for 30 years, and for the first time ever, this charming house is now available to rent and stay overnight!

The house is adorned with character, from extraordinary oak beams, original oak doors, stone fireplaces, butchers’ rails and woodburning stoves, Y Fferm is a dog-friendly choice for a group or family of nine looking to add a wealth of character to their North Wales escape.

Follow the cobbled path up to the porch area, where you can discard any coats and boots after your journey.

Be welcomed into the large living/dining room, where you can look forward to relaxing on the plush sofas as you recount the days adventures in front of the crackling woodburning stove.

Move through to the fully-equipped kitchen, featuring a beautiful wooodburning stove for cooler evenings, where the chef of the group will have all they need to create a delicious feast, ready to enjoy at the dining table over bottles of celebratory fizz to toast to your unique setting.

On warmer days, why not dine alfresco out in the vast gardens, where you can soak up the sunshine and appreciate the stunning countryside views as your canine companions run and play?

Completing the ground floor is a study, where those who want to check in on work can do so thanks to the super-fast WiFi.

Make your way up to the first floor, where you can unwind with a soak in the gorgeous freestanding bath, or freshen up in the large walk-in shower, perfect after a day of exploring your surroundings.

On this floor, you will find three character-filled rooms, a king-size, a family room with king-size and single, and a child’s bunk, all with traditional wooden flooring, feature fireplaces and exposed beams at every turn.

Continue up to the second floor, where you will find an additional sitting room in the eaves with a Smart TV and more character with exposed stone walls and scribings on the beams.

Y Fferm is located near the local amenities in the village of Pontblyddyn; to help ease your self-catered stay, you could also head for a tasty meal at the local pub, The Bridge Inn.

The village also boasts Plas Teg, a Grade I listed building and the most haunted house in Wales.

Be sure to check out the Pontblyddyn Cricket Ground, where you can watch a game from the premier league club.

Pontblyddyn is a small, quaint village resting near Leeswood, between Mold and Wrexham. The village famous for Plas Teg, one of the most important Jacobean-era houses in Wales; this Grade I-listed building was built in 1610 and is considered one of the most haunted houses in Wales. The village also boasts a local pub, The Bridge Inn which serves delicious food, ideal for the nights you don’t fancy cooking, and a local convenience store to stock up on essentials.
