The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We slept well and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Whilst the weather wasn’t good enough to sit out, we had a walk through the owner’s orchard area where there is additional seating. This area is lovely and we enjoyed reading the little displays. The accommodation is well placed for visits to Chester and North Wales.

We went away with my parents and the rooms were great. The beds were really comfortable and on the soft side which was great for us. The kitchen had all the amenities you would need for self catering and even some oil and salt and pepper as well as a welcome basket of tea, hot chocolate and coffee. One of the highlights for us was the proximity to some great pubs and restaurants (the Sunday lunch at Shrewsbury Arms was great). There are some lovely places to walk nearby and if you have small kids the orchard garden has some great entertainment with a lovely book you can buy to support Alder Hey hospital. We spent hours watching the owl box and bird feeder cameras for entertainment!

Could not have wished for more. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The cottage was spotless and had everything we could want (including a bottle of Prosecco). The orchard is lovely and has gorgeous plum, apple and pear trees which the kids loved. The barn owl and alpaca camera was a great touch and became the main feature of all the TVs in the cottage. The 4 alpacas on site were gorgeous and so well looked after. The story about Fudge the dog and Olivia captured my children's imagination and the creature hunt in the orchard was superb. We were advised parking was narrow but this was not an issue for us. The location is excellent. 3 miles away from Cheshire Oaks, Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium. So much to see in the area. Lovely quiet hamlet to stay in and chill out. Thank you for such an incredible base for our holiday.

Easy close access to Chester, Cheshire Oaks retail and entertainment and M53 and M56 motorways. Beautifully presented cottage with quality furniture, fixtures and fittings. Cutlery was a bit limited but everything else was fine. While we completely understand why you would use a corner sofa unit we found it fairly uncomfortable and couldn’t really sit 4 on it. The parking is tight so it might be worth asking guests with small cars to park further in so larger cars can use the spaces with better access. We found small cars using the larger spaces and if we couldn’t park at the gates it was very hard to park my estate car. Lots of choice for pubs serving good food nearby. If we had to move to another part of the country then right near this cottage would be our choice. Would happily stay here again.

The property

Resting in a quiet corner of Cheshire is this wonderful terraced cottage; The Parlour.

Holding a combination of contemporary charm and traditional features, it makes a great base for a small family or two couples to discover the North of both England and Wales.

Home to an open-plan living space with high ceilings and beams, it makes a glorious social spot to spend your evenings.

Rustle up a tasty treat in the amply-equipped kitchen, and gather together around the dining table to enjoy your meal amongst each other’s company.

Choose to take a break by relaxing on the corner sofa when you’re not exploring the marvels of the countryside lands, or take a seat in the courtyard to enjoy the excitement first hand amidst the refreshing countryside breeze.

Boasting two zip/link super-king-size bedrooms both with their own TVs and en-suites, the configuration of the sleeping spots is ideal for a variety of group needs, with one of the bedrooms boasting exceptional charm through its exposed brick walls and rustic feel.

Take your time to meander through the surroundings and see if you can spot some special visitors, the owner of The Parlour has published a Children’s bedtime storybook called Fudge’s Evening Adventure, the idea from this story came after the Owners Daughter was treated at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital.

The tale follows Fudge, a miniature dachshund, as she embarks on a quest to find a cozy place to rest her head for the night.

Along the way, she encounters various animal friends on and around the family farm.

A beautiful wooden sculpture trail to accompany the story can be enjoyed by guests, all proceeds from the book will go to Alder Hey Children's Charity, to thank them for their wonderful service, the book is able to be purchased directly from the owner, and so far over £13000 has been raised for this amazing charity.

To add to the wonder there is also a carved animal bug hunt, and guests can watch the wildlife in comfort as wildlife cameras have been set up and can be viewed live in the property.

The animal adventures don’t stop there, as guests will have the opportunity to meet the animals that live onsite, and with ample space and areas for children to play The Parlour really is a great choice for animal lovers and families alike.

In close reach of both countryside and city excitement, The Parlour is the perfect base for your retreat to Cheshire.

CHESTER

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
