New House Farm Barns
New House Farm Barns are a duo of two lovingly restored barns in the charming village of Shocklach, Cheshire. Rural and surrounded by a wealth of local wildlife, yet with the added convenience of off-road parking and access to the owner's open field. Curlew, kestrels, and goldfinches are just some of the birds to be seen from the property. In the evenings hedgehogs come out and the barn owl is usually hunting for voles in the field. Evenings can be savoured outside or inside, or guests can travel a little further to the nearest pub, the Carden Arms, for dinner and a couple of drinks. With plenty of walking trails to explore, including the Bickerton Hills with views over to Liverpool and the Bishop Benet Way, a 35-mile walk which runs right through Shocklach, the area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The Clwydian Mountains, and the Berwyn Mountains are all within an easy drive – and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdonia) can be reached and walked in on a day trip; National Trust sites are also within reach, including the 18th century manor of Erddig, Chirk Castle, and Cholmonderley Gardens. Venture a little further to Chester, where you'll be spoilt for choice with its vibrant nightlife, shops, and historical attractions. Step back in time and visit the Roman walls and amphitheatre, stroll around the historic Chester Rows, or check out the Chester Zoo to meet some of the world's rarest animals. However you choose to spend your time, the New House Farm Barns promise a truly unforgettable getaway in Cheshire.

Where you’ll be staying
TILSTON
Malpas 4.5 miles; Whitchurch 10 miles; Chester 14 miles.
The village of Tilston is situated on the upper reaches of the River Dee, located between the medieval city of Chester and the market town of Whitchurch. Close by is the Carden Park Hotel with a superb 5 star leisure spa and golf course. Chester is just 14 miles away, and this Roman city has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed town houses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The City has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in the famous 'Rows', and lovely walks around the old Roman Walls, along The Groves beside the River Dee or through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, and the market towns and villages of Cheshire, Shropshire and Wrexham are all within easy touring distance, whilst the nearby Wirral Peninsula has many splendid courses to tempt the golfing enthusiast.
