  • "Remove clothes drier from amenities list as there wasn’t one."

And better instructions for the Amazon stick for the technically challenged (like us). We were delighted with Susanna’s Apartment. One felt really rather special snuggling down in the comfy sofas. Oh, and we got a hoot out of the pull chain loo flush.

It offers superb views on St. Michael's Mount in the distance. The kitchen is well equipped. In addition there are 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds, a bathroom with a toilet and a small room with a second toilet. We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.

  • "A Truly wow experience!"

The views are just breathtaking. The main room, as you walk in knocks you for six ! and is a fantastic size, again the views looking across to St Michaels Mount Penzance Newlyn, and Mousehole are never to tire of ! The bedrooms are adequate, but do lack that wow factor , especially after the front room / kitchen ! The whole place could do with a deep clean . The tv size is dismal 32" reception was intermittent and could only watch a couple of channels , the fire stick was not working . We were not to bothered , but it is nice after a day out to relax and watch tv . But the whole experience of staying here outwieghs any niggly problems ! We had a fantastic week there ! Recommend 10 /10 for wow factor ! The Company looking after the Castle were helpful with any problem , and did try to sort a power lead for the firestick . If you visit you will love it !

Would stay again however the shower is handheld as mentioned but very difficult to wash hair. It should be attached to wall as it clearly had been at one stage. The approach lane is in a dreadful condition with so many huge potholes. Probably ok if you have a 4x4. A couple of new frying pans needed. All in all we would definitely return.

The light comes in when a ring is still on so at least it is clear if you have made a mistake when you have finished cooking. That is the only reason I marked this down slightly. Otherwise everything was lovely and the location is stunning.

  • "Lovely and bright apartment, wonderful location and view (scones and milk were very welcome)."

Comfortable and well appointed. Did I mention the view? St Michael's Mount and amazing sunsets (subject to Cornwall's very changeable weather). S/W footpath is a small field away and easily accessible even in the wet (subject to suitable footwear). I missed that the shower was handheld, my fault, but am thankful I did, else I may have missed out on Susanna's. Check hot water on arrival, as the immersion heater hadn't been switched back on (thankfully the apartment guide gave instructions, so crisis averted). Only demerit is one mattress in the first bedroom - the edge has collapsed. We would definitely recommend Susanna's, and would definitely rebook if holidaying in Cornwall again.

  • "The apartment was not cleaned properly."

kitchen in particular was greasy, work tops were all sticky , toaster full of crumbs, and fruit bowl full of dust.Sofa had lots of bits on cushions, which made us look under them ,to find loads of bits and peanuts.lots of cobwebs too.the duvet cover had only been half put on and was all in lump, twisted. The bed in main room needs replacing, mattress very poor. Jane the supervisor of cleaning team was very good and went out of her way to make amends .The apartment is in a stunning location ,with beautiful view. Sadly it needs renovation, which is reflected in the price.

We are sorry to hear that the property was not up to it's regular standard of cleanliness, we are so grateful Jane was able to rectify this for you. We can report that the mattress in the main room has now been replaced. Property Owner

however, the mattress is NOT a medium mattress it is barely soft. Can I make a suggestion for Sykes to add a mattress rating to each property as this may help people's decision in the future and stop any misunderstandings regarding the facilities. That being said, don't underestimate the dark skies you get helping with star gazing, and the view of mounts bay each day sets you up for whatever adventures are to come. The peace and quiet can be eerie for us townies but a welcome change.

  • "The location of the apartment is unbelievably beautiful."

Overlooking the st Michael Mount and Cudden point. The apartment is spacious and wonderfully furnished. But the stay itself was not pleasant. The double bed was of deplorable quality. The mattress sagged so much that we put the mattress in the livingroom on the floor to prevent hernia. Also the shower was bad, cold and there was hardly any water power/pressure. 1 liter of lukewarm water per minute. There was also far too little cutlery. 1 knife, 2 forks and 5 spoons, 3 plates, 3 soft drink glasses. All week we needed our own plastic picnic cutlery to eat. In 20 years of holidays in England we have never had such a bad experience. We would like to recommend the apartment itself to everyone, so beautiful, but sleeping, eating and showering were far below par. A refund of part of the accommodation costs would be very appropriate, in addition to the return of the £100 deposit. We tried several times to contact your organization by phone or email, but that was impossible! Hence this review now. For 20 years we have been coming to England in the summer holidays. Definitely again next year. We hope that the handling of this review will make us so satisfied that we will book through your organization again next year with our two daughters. With kind regards, Ton and Liesbeth de Groot. tel 06-54206061 or by mail: de4grootjes@ziggo.nl

Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear you found the location of Susanna’s Apartment beautiful, spacious, and wonderfully furnished. We would like to address the comments you have made; the bed and mattress is considered medium and not soft or hard. The shower, as described on our website is a hand held shower, which may have an impact on the water pressure. The water should have been hot - unless the heating was not turned on (instructions for this can be found in the instructions manual at the property) There should have been 8 sets of cutlery at the property, although, they may have been in different drawers and not found during your stay (we will check with our housekeeper on this). Thank you again, and we hope you will return. Property Owner

Susanna's Apartment is on the first floor and the views over the Atlantic and St Michael's Mount in the distance are stunning. The property is very spacious with lots of natural light and was very clean upon arrival. The only draw backs for some might be that the decor is a bit dated, however, this is reflected in the price and this didnt bother us, but it might bother others. Location wise, you need a car to get anywhere (again, didnt bother us). Although the coastal path is accessible from the gardens, its very much a hiking route and is not for those with very young families. The coves are pretty inaccessible although they are nothing short of stunning. Overall, we were very happy and thought we got good value for money. Highly recommended for couples or those with older kids who enjoy the great British outdoors.

The views are amazing, and the location is perfect for exploring the beaches and attractions of West Cornwall. You get to the SW Coast Path in just a few minutes from the house. The apartment had all the equipment we needed for our stay. The open plan living room is very large and airy. Only minor criticism would be that the apartment was very dusty on arrival and clearly hadn't been properly hoovered for quite a while. Water pressure in the shower isn't great either. But overall we had a great holiday and would highly recommend!

Spent some time each morning and evening watching dawn and sunset over St Michaels Mount, and we were blessed with fine weather. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms had lots of storage, and we were very comfortable there. Acton Castle is a great location for exploring Prussia cove, the coastal path and there are many wonderful beaches in the area. In the age of Covid, it was very easy to keep away from crowds - we often had an entire beach / cove to ourselves. We had a very happy week - it's a magical place and we will definitely be returning to Susanna's Apartment.

We have been taking holidays abroad and were forced to 'staycate' having been forced to cancel a holiday in Vienna. We love the Castle and the apartment but two things would have improved our holiday. Firstly, wi-fi in the bedrooms would have been very useful. Secondly, it was very difficult to park. On several occasions we were forced to park in the private car park under the arch. It seemed that some holiday makers had brought more than one car so maybe a limit would be a good idea.

  • "There can be no doubt that Susanna's apartment is adorable with the most spectacular views over to St."

Michael's Mount. However, it's starting to look a little tired and in need of some TLC in particular the Kitchen and Bathroom. The kitchen offered a mismatch of cutlery, crockery and glass wear, as if they had been supplied from what was left over at a car boot sale. There wasn't one sharp knife to be found. We actually bought one so we could slice fruit and vegetables! The bathroom is really in need of an up date, the shower head wasn't attached to the wall so we had to hold it while we showered, not ideal. The shower curtain was disgusting, matted together with lime scale and what looked like mould? The TV reception is very poor and try as we might, we couldn't get any BBC channels and the others kept breaking up, possibly they need to consider one of the satellite providers in such a poor reception area. All of that said, the lounge and bedrooms were comfortable and of course, the views are magnificent. But all things considered not worth almost £700 for a week's holiday.

  • "The website description is an accurate summary of the facilities."

The accommodation is reached down a long narrow lane which might have been expected to present the occasional problem with passing other vehicles but in the two weeks of our stay we didn't have any problems at all. The location is lovely with interesting views across to St Micheal's Mount, Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole. There is a footpath from the bottom of the grounds leading onto the coastal path. There are other residents in the building but we hardly saw or heard them during our fortnight. The facilities in the accommodation are excellent and we wanted for nothing during our stay. A few minutes by car takes you to all the shopping facilities you are likely to need. There is no-where in the grounds or nearby for children to run around or kick a ball but miles of country walks in all directions. A lovely location and a lovely place to stay. I can fully recommend it.

  • "The apartment was superb, well equipped and in a wonderful location overlooking the sea."

The beds and lounge chairs were very comfortable. Only having a hand shower was not too good, even though it was specified in the booking information so we were expecting it. However, we found that the dishwasher was poor quality since it did not wash items sufficiently well so many of them had to be redone by hand. In addition, the internet speed of 0.46Mbps was absolutely appalling such that it was sometimes impossible to display web pages (I was able to get 3 times the internet speed on my mobile broadband) and in the evenings the TV would regularly pixelate such that occasionally we could not watch or hear the current program, thus spoiling our viewing and enjoyment.

Naturally, the views are spectacular. Lovely and quiet, which suited us. Tiny negative; the beds were too soft for us. We did read the comments in the visitors' book and note that this has been discussed before, and that these beds were perfect for some folks. It wouldn't stop us coming again, which is highly likely!
