  • "We felt the information available before we arrived had been pretty accurate."

A lovely quiet location almost in the middle of no where. Clean and tidy. Comfortable farmhouse style property. Very nice to receive a welcome pack. Thank you. The garden is certainly well fenced to dogs. One of ours is an escape artist but this was safe and secure. We are planning out next visit. It is country lanes all around some quite narrow! And hilly as you would expect from the location. We loved everything about this property, & location. Perfect for us and the dogs.

We all had a brilliant time, best house we have stayed in and super value. Such a lovely remote peaceful setting with so many birds visiting Recommended

  • "Lovely traditional cottage with plenty of amenities."

Garden excellent for our 2 dogs. Very quiet location. Plenty of parking. The owner gave us much clearer instructions on how to get to the property as the Sykes Web site directions are confusing. The start point for their directions is unclear and the post code takes you to a location approximately 1/2 mile from the actual cottage.

This is our second year here after coming at the same time last year, and it’s just as lovely as we remembered. A homely house with lots of space and a great, secure outdoor space for children and dogs to explore. The Vale was very well equipped and in a great location for us. We will see you again next year! :)

Super welcome pack. Very clean property and well equipped. Nice garden, so well set-up for children. Only slight negative is that showers run hot/cold if other water being used at same time but no huge problem. Definitely a lovely place to stay, very peaceful/rural. Would recommend.

  • "I would highly recommend the Vale, it was everything you wanted."

the rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. The kitchen provided all you needed to prepare and cook for several people, the crockery and glasses were all clean and a decent size, we has great stay. There were instructions for everything. If I was to make a negative comment on anything (and this is being petty) the grass needed cutting and we would have preferred not to have the stair gate but realized this was a necessity, so I wouldn't mark the place down for that. I would congratulate Kerry and staff on the care taken with the whole place.

  • "A beautifully decorated, comfortable and spacious farmhouse, that caters for all ages, set in rural surroundings."

The ceiling lights are amazing. A very dog friendly garden, totally secure. The road is quiet. A large welcome pack was waiting for us to delve into. Yum Yum! The well stocked village shop is about one mile away, if you decide to walk there, there is a small hill to climb. There is a good fish and chip shop in Holsworthy. Kerry was very helpful when we contacted her about a problem. We would happily book this house again. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  • "We had a lovely time at this spacious and tranquil house."

The location is very quiet, and the enclosed garden is great for kids to run around while the adults relax on the terrace. There is also an outdoor dining table which gets the sun late into the evening. There is parking for 3-4 cars, more if you're willing to shuffle them around. All the rooms are large and the beds comfortable. The only thing I would add would be more kitchen equipment as there was not (for example) a large pan, nor a rolling pin, nor any serving platters! However this is nitpicking and we would happily book again.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Vale and your family enjoyed the enclosed outdoor space,. I have now purchased more kitchen equipment for the guests to come and appreciate your comments for improving folks experience. Toilet requires moving to outside wall and shower making longer. The heater wire of shower requires sorting. Takes most of room in shower. Heating on all night and then off on the day no matter what we did and after speaking to the house keeper. Everywhere lovingly and clean but will not be returning here

the cottage is absolutely lovely and Kerry, the owner, was very helpful throughout, even to the extent of calling us as we were travelling down to tell us that the cottage was ready. The 4 bedrooms are all very spacious, the living room and dining room are comfortable and the kitchen/separate utility area have everything that we needed. The garden is also very large and enclosed making is great fun for our dog to run around safely. We would certainly recommend the Vale and Kerry to anyone who wants a comfortable and peaceful break in the Devon countryside.

House was superbly decorated for us with tree and trimmings when we arrived. Lovely hamper too. Lots of space, cosy, warm, comfortable and dog friendly. Bit wet so not able to take advantage of the outdoor play area but the grandchildren (and grandad) really enjoyed filling the bird feeders. Nice friendly old fashioned village pub nearby serving real ales and great food.

  • "Kerry was there when we arrived to the cottage with the cleaning team, a great welcome, we were the first to stay there and have left Kerry a few things that we thought could be done."

Great location but not on a working farm as listed, this wasn’t a problem for us but think it needs to be clear for others. Great property with all the hard work that has gone into making it what it is today. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback, I have now purchased an iron and a retractable clothes line for the back yard. I have also purchased two wicker chairs for the conservatory. The Vale is apart of the estate of the farm and the farm is a working farm, mainly for producing animal feed. i.e Haylage and during the winter/spring months we have sheep/lambs grazing. There is always a lot of wildlife to be seen. Kerry Property Owner
