  • "Great little cottage, although very much in need of some maintenance, windows in living room leak in the rain and also there’s a huge gap in the bay window that gets really noisy when the wind is up."

Curtain fittings broken so difficultly closing curtains. Shower water leaks all over the bathroom floor. Lots of flys around the place and also wood lice which I found about 20 in the double bedroom. Soon got rid of them. The kitchen is well equipped and a lovely size. We did think that 1 twin room 1 bunk bed and 1 double should maybe change to 2 doubles and 1 twin, if there’s more than 1 couple going sleeping in a bunk bed wasn’t so good, luckily it was just my husband and myself so we didn’t have an issue with smaller beds. We did have a great week. Despite the issues . It was peaceful and lovely waking up to the cows grazing in the fields. Port Isaac is well worth a visit and a little place called Port Quin is a stunning little cove with gorgeous views. Our Dog Archie loved the huge garden to play in.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays. We are glad that you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "Neglected in need of total clean and maintainence Outside rotting garden furniture in need of repair."

Not swept. Dirty windows and doorways. Weeds and broken unstable slabs. Inside kitchen cupboards needing repairs. Some pots and pans needed cleaning before we could use them. All curtains in property broken from runners not closing properly and dirty. Lounge carpet very stained, sofa and chair covers poorly fitting and dirty/stained, dirty and particle collection underneath sofa and chair cushions needing hoovering. Windows blown in lounge and bedrooms. Cobwebs abundant, behind chairs and furniture not clean or hoovered. No DVD player as stated. Lamps in bedrooms not working, no hanging space, articles of clothing found in bedroom drawers..not ours ! Fire extinguisher out of safety use date. Fan in bedroom failed safety test as no cover on it ! It's a shame because the property is in a lovely location with lots of Outside space . No little extras added like welcome pack or good decent furniture for outside. Hoover very smelly when needed to use. Won't be returning to Mayland

  • "Wonderful location with the most amazing views, however the whole property just needs a little TLC."

It was cold and damp when we arrived , the windows in the front room all need replacing as obvious gaps in them all, the curtains did not close properly in the bay window due to the hooks being broken off, the sofa and chairs were dirty and an infestation of woodlice in the chair closest to the kitchen door, the carpet was also dirty. Some kitchen cupboards did not fit and felt a little unsafe when opening them. There were tiles off in the main bathroom, probably due to the shower screen leaking everytime we had a shower and required mopping up the pool of water. All of the above being said this is a gem of a property just needs a little in the way of maintance, neither myself or my friend were too bothered by these little quirks and issues and had a wonderful time, exploring the local area, and coming back to our little cottage by the sea. To be greeted by the cows in the neigbouring field, rabbits on the lawn and plethora of birds and wildlife sharing our morning cup of tea on the front patio. Despite the above comments ( just feedback) i will be returning and dragging my husband ( this was a girly break) with me to share the delights of this wonderful area of Cornwall, in a well equipped but not perfect little cottage.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Maylands and would like to return with your husband. However, we are sorry that you encountered these maintenance issues, your comments will be raised to our maintenance team to look into these points further. • "Great property clean extra large towels plenty of very hot water, a touch of maintenance needed in bunk bed bedroom window seal & kitchen cupboards kitchen well stacked with utensils."

A little bit chilly on a couple of nights a starter pack for the fire would have been a nice touch. Garden safe & great size for our dog when grass cut could be picked up as sticks to shoes. Overall a Great property

  • "We had a four night stay in the property and on arrival the house was very cold and damp."

This was due to the night storage heaters not being turned on the day before we arrived. Luckily the office arranged for two electric heaters to be delivered, so with the help of them and lighting the fire the house warmed up slowly. Two of the bedrooms only had one bedside light and one room had dead light bulbs, so no light at all. Sitting room carpet and sofas very dirty. Outside the lawn looked like a field, obviously had not been cut for ages. Quite honestly all these points should of been picked up by John Bray before our arrival. It really annoyed me that nothing had been checked.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit. All of your comments have been raised to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays to ensure this does not happen again for incoming guests. • "Had a wonderful holiday staying at Maylands."

What a wonderful bungalow, so light and clean, (want to live there!) beautiful views with a huge garden for the dog to play and loved having the cows and calves as neighbours. The weather was perfect all week with plenty of walking and sightseeing. Been a long time since being in Cornwall in May and had forgotten how stunning it is, as always come in November to Polzeath as less people about and can walk Indie (GSD) on the beach. Love the views from Port Gaverne. Walking at Daymer Bay to Rock and Polzeath. It would be nice for a few essentials to be in the property like washing up liquid etc, salt pepper, and a welcome pack. A few other places I've stayed at have included milk, tea, coffee and bottle wine. A small loaf bread or seeing as its Cornwall scones and cream would be a very nice touch. Can't wait till November when we'll be back staying for two weeks at Lundy Bay. ????????????
