  • "Beautiful cottage in a quiet peaceful village, very relaxing."

Was lovely to see a rabbit in the garden every day from fields behind. Secure enclosed back garden for our dog. Walking distance to local pub Napoleon with superb food and on Tuesday nights the Boscastle Buoys who sing from around 9:30 p.m. until closing. Coastal walks, harbour and Museum of Witchcraftt and Magic in Boscastle all worth a visit. Rock beach was lovely, long and flat, dog had a great time splashing through the water and there is a small ferry across to Padstow from here that takes minutes.

I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay and managed to see so much. Thank you for leaving the house so tidy Property Owner

  • "We were very disappointed with the cottage there were no wardrobes in any of the bedrooms only coat hooks on the back of the doors infact were my daughter was there were only 2 screws the garden was not dog friendly we had use the garden chairs to block holes in the fence and the one gate was only a piece of fencing tied up with rope and the slope and steps up to the property was a real struggle for my wife and myself for the money we paid we were extremely disappointed."

We have had a number of properties with you but this was the worst by far. Will have to consider booking in the future.

It’s a curious thing, but next door have two free roaming Labrador’s who have never appeared in my garden. The piece of old fencing is actually a gate without hinges. Free standing. Designed for an awkward corner with ties, specially screwed to the wall. We’re the wardrobes really that important for a weeks holiday by the sea ? The bedrooms are not large enough, but substantial chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and hooks on the door prove more than adequate to most. 25% for accuracy of description? Was the house not comfortable? Were the decorations not to your taste? Was the panoramic view without wildebeest a disappointment? The drive is on a slope, the steps to the front door are a bind though they have a handrail, there are steps at the rear aw well but they are long spread over several metres. Perhaps in future you need to do more research if these are big issues for your wife. What more facilities did you require ? Jacuzzi? Swimming pool? Sauna? Bar? Disco? Obviously I can’t comment on the cleanliness, but I can assure that the very local people who deal with this aspect are reliant on this work during the Summer and it’s not in their interests to be lack lustre. I did say in my email to you before you arrived let me know by phone, text etc if there is anything you need or that I can help with. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property very well equipped & presented, loads of space."

Plenty of cooking essentials and cupboard space (we moved a bit to put our food bits in one) Our dogs loved the garden not really over looked. John very informative & friendly. Great location, Boscastle lovely village. Only thing I would say is it's a bit of a climb up from town for the fit and able when walking which we did frequently. Beautiful sunsets just spoilt a bit by a neighbours tree right on the horizon! Would definitely stay again.

  • "Generally, property was as expected, great location, comfortable, with amazing views over the village and out to sea."

Garden at rear was fine for dog, but garden furniture needs updating. Only one bathroom, not two as advertised; need to revise details on website to state bathroom and downstairs cloakroom only. Minor issue was outside light by front door not working, but no doubt easily fixed. Friendly local pub only 10 minutes walk, with great food on offer. Would recommend as a family and dog friendly holiday home.

  • "We had a lovely family holiday."

6 of us (youngest aged11!) fitted well into this house and had a great time away. Good washing machine, kitchen equipment and WiFi. Addition of conservatory for eating / extra space was great. Brilliantly located: few lovely places in Boscastle itself, pretty walks from the house as well as really near some great places to visit - towns / walks / beaches / boat trips.

Thank you. That’s exactly how I, my family and friends all think about Honeycroft Property Owner

  • "A lovely property with distant sea views to the front and green hills to the back."

Everything that you need in this delightful house. Only one concern if you had mobility concerns re steep drive but railings in place to help. Lovely walks close to hand, especially the coastal paths - breath taking! A local shop just 5 mins walk away - plus local pubs close by - must admit we drove down into Boscastle as its quite steep on the return back up. Certainly a place to return back too. Owner John was very open to communications if any concerns or recommendations of the local area.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

We had an issue with heating which was resolved very quickly. The cottage was well stocked and the views are stunning. My only feedback is to put that the garden is only secure for smaller dogs who can’t jump over 3ft.

  • "Fabulous property, could not fault the cleanliness or the facilities."

Great owner who was very helpful and communicative. The house is in a great location at the top of the village and within 5 mins walking distance of The Napoleon Inn - excellent food and dog friendly! My only complaint would be that the double bed was extremely uncomfortable for me - the mattress was far too firm. But that's the only niggle from a wonderful stay!

Two complaints about firm mattress in a month after four years of holiday letting! I don’t ignore complaints, though mattress quality is a very subjective matter. Even so I have ordered mattress toppers and will try them out before any more guests stay. John Property Owner

  • "The property is very lovely."

The view is to die for, and the house is nice in the most part. The garden is lovely, and the dogs were perfectly safe there and didn't escape. However, I don't think that the owner has actually slept in the double beds. If he had, he would have changed them. They are double beds, with double duvets (an absolute no in my view!), the mattresses were so hard and the bed made such a racket every time you turned over. In the end, we moved the spare single beds (which were super comfy) and camped out in the lounge! Also, be aware there are no wardrobes whatsoever throughout the property. It's not so much of an issue if there are only 2 of you, as we used the other rooms to hang anything we needed to. There are lots of drawers though. Finally, the kitchen is well stocked, but again, there is nowhere for you to store your food for the week, as every cupboard is stuffed full of glasses, plates, cleaning supplies, etc. We created a "pantry" by the fridge and just stored everything there. There is a great shop at the bottom of the hill, which has everything you need and more and they're super friendly too. Would be rebook? Only if we knew that there were new beds, mattresses and bedding. It was lovely, but we won't be back.

I find your comments really quite insulting and to a degree untrue. Firstly your comments about the lack of kitchen storage are not unreasonable, though complaints about lack of cutlery, crockery, glassware and utensils are more common than too much. We’ve had a cull though to create more storage. There are no wardrobes, there is no space, but plenty of hangers on doors. Is wardrobe storage that important for a weeks holiday in a cottage by the sea. I have slept in all the beds many times and so have my family and friends, including friends of friends, some very critical guests. No one has ever complained. I stayed there for a week recently with friends, hence my delay in replying to your comments. The beds did not cause a squeak all night. We are light sleepers and know the need for calm in a bedroom to get a good nights sleeps. Mattress firmness is subjective, the main bed is firm I admit, but doesn’t merit comments that you have made. I stories of people who have resorted to sleeping on the floor whilst away from home because a bed was so soft. Why didn’t you say anything at the time? Rather than martyring yourself ? I spoke to you before your holiday and said ring me if you have any problems or questions however trivial. Lack of sleep to me is a priority matter, this could have been resolved immediately. I have ordered some mattress toppers and will personally try them out before any more guests arrive. John Property Owner

  • "Lovely, comfortable house, with fabulous views and so convenient for many places to visit."

The only minor drawbacks were: the lack of a bath - I always have a bath, and a huge walk-in shower is not the same; and no wardrobes in the bedrooms, though I was able to hang my trousers and tops over the bed rail. The instructions as to how to reach the house were very confusing, as it didn't say where to travel from, ' just drive SW down the A39 for .8m . . . etc.' and we got a bit lost.

  • "First View Thank you for providing the lovely gifts of Cider & biscuits."

I loved your cottage, the views were amazing of the sea and countryside. The decor and furniture was lovely. The shower was lovely too. It really did help us as a family to use your washing machine and dishwasher. The garden was beautiful. The only negative comments l would like to say is that we had to roll the rug up in the living room because it was covered in pet hairs and my grandson was covered in hair. I swept the floor where the rug was and filled the dustpan with hair and dust. The grill wasn't clean when we arrived but your cottage is beautiful and so is Boscastle. I would love to stay at your cottage again. Second View Boscastle feedback a beautiful location ideal base for exploring cornwall luvly clean house with a superb view. Third View Thank you for welcoming us to Honeycroft cottage with a lovely bottle of cider and biscuits. We loved every part of your cottage, views of the sea, countryside and all the little shops down in the valley. The only negative I would like to mention is that we had to roll up the rug in the living room as it was covered in pet hair and my son kept getting covered in it, the upstairs toilet seat is loose and the oven grill tray wasn't clean. Lastly I would like to say that your cottage is a beautiful place to stay and us as a family enjoyed it very much. Boscastle is beautiful. We would definitely recommend and would love to stay at your cottage again in the future.

  • "We had a great weeks holidays even with the storms raining sideways!"

It was great for the kids to have their own rooms and space to get away from each other. Beds were comfortable, rooms well decorated with beautiful views out to sea. Good lighting, I do like a lamps and rarely use the main ceiling lights. Only downside is there is no hanging space. Kitchen is well equipped and there is everything you would possibly need to cook or bake a cake even. We played cards after dinner in the conservatory every night, great to listen to the rain! Lounge is cosy and comfortable with duel aspect windows and amazing views, no matter what the weather. The large TV is smart so you can log into Netflix/Disney+ etc. Wifi does drop off every now and then but only in heavy storms, so no different to the centre of Kent! You could get three cars on the drive if needed. All in all a great property for a family holiday. Boscastle is a great place to explore northern Cornwall. A few nice pubs and very quaint. Walk down to the harbour and stop in the pubs on the way back, for fuel, it’s steep coming back! Tintagel and Port Isaac are worth a visit too.

Thank you very much for your comments. John Property Owner
