  • "Lovely house very well equipped and spotless my only criticism is only one t bathroom, toilet."

There was only 2of us but if there had been more staying it would have been a problem. Not good if one had mobility issues ie,staircase, but that was explained on website so I can t complain. Would definitely recommend, owners were very helpful

  • "The Round House was in such peaceful surroundings, we really felt like we were in the middle of nowhere despite the close proximity to other holiday parks with only birds, cows and the wind to break the silence."

The garden was a calming and private spot to relax in. We loved the view of the cliff tops and sea from the bedrooms. The interior and furnishings were very fresh yet cosy and very comfortable. The Round House was very well equipped for all our needs apart from no bottle opener/cork screw!! The plug in torches were a great addition for middle of the night strolling down the spiral staircase to the bathroom.. Communication with the hosts was excellent and uncomplicated. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family of all ages.

  • "Amazing and comfortable Cottage to stay."

We loved it. Only a few things we’d say to make our stay that little bit better… even though having a dishwasher is great we think a washing machine would be better. Fridge and the freezer space is a bit small but not major issue. A more descriptive list of things to expect at the cottage as we bought loads of extra supplies that the cottage already had. Other than that, beds were comfortable, was really clean, garden space was amazing, views to the sea, great secure car park to park cars. We’d definitely stay again.

  • "This is a beautiful property and any niggling issues we had were relatively petty, but perhaps the owner will take our recommendations on board, as they are so easily rectified."

Minor, but irritating there are no bins upstairs, as we both suffer with hay-fever we get through a great deal of tissues. We ended up pinching the bin from the bathroom - which by the way has no lock. When we sat down on the night time, there was no where to put your glass or cup. We turned our cases into makeshift tables.. which offered some amusement! Now it would not have been such an issue, had I not broken my ankle after the booking was made. However, with a slight weakness remaining, the downstairs bathroom was a real pain - exacerbated by the spiral staircase. Just give this some thought when booking. Also if you have any back problems, the sofas were so low it was easier to roll off them than stand up. The bed was wonderful though. The last and most frustrating aspect was the inability to enjoy the fantastic view. The picnic table, again great for eating, but not so great for resting with a book. Was situated on the lawn - no view - it was boiling hot and there was no umbrella. In the end we had to buy a couple of camping chairs, 1, so we could see the sea and 2, so we could sit in the shade. Overall it is a lovely property of you are fit and sprightly. The other available properties on this complex also look lovely. The things I have mentioned are very minor, but it wasn't a cheap stay, and with no welcome pack - a packet of biscuits would have done - the pretty niggles were slightly annoying.

We had a little issue with the fire alarm but it was sorted out immediately. The garden area is exceptional, beautiful and fully enclosed. There was everything you required for self catering. The bathroom was downstairs, being down a spiral staircase, was not an issue for us but may be a little difficult for people perhaps not as mobile who need the facility in the night time. All in all fabulous for me and I hope to visit again in the future.

The photos are outdated , I booked this mainly because of the single bed and double being in the main bed room for our toddler to share with us but there isn't a single bed in there, also no access to a beach and no signs to say there closed so u only find out once you've gone down a steep walk and local pub /restaurant is closed not really ideal for people with young kids ,also states ponies and chickens on site which is also not true not much to do and a lot of hard walks really not great for young children

Enclosed garden good for children and pets. 10min walk to tintagel. 5min walk to coastalpath, with walks to tintagel, boscastle and trebarwith strand all within reasonable distance. Nearby childrens park. Cottage comfortable and spacious. Spiral staircase not an issue for us. Would have welcomed bit more information re use of TV and cooker although we got an immediate response when we needed help.

  • "Lovely cottage, great location, well equipped and beautifully clean."

Actually in Bossiney about half a mile out of Tintagel. Few points that just stopped it being a 5 star review. No washing machine, which for a seaside location wasn't ideal and meant lots of hand washing. For us we'd have preferred one over the dishwasher. Only toilet is downstairs (a metal spiral staircase) so a little inconvenient for night time trips as bedrooms are upstairs. Would really have appreciated full sized big bath sheets instead of the admittedly plentiful supply of small bath towels. Only small inconveniences though and would probably book again as location was lovely.

Location was beautiful, easy access into Tintagel and also for inland and coastal walks. The house was perfect for us. Had a welcoming feel and plenty of space for the 5 of us. Well equipped for our needs, didn’t want for any items for the nights we cooked in. Beds were very comfortable and we all slept so well after the days filled with visits to local attractions, beaches and walks. You would never know the cottage was dog friendly, not a hint of a hound was detected (sometimes, dog friendly places have a certain odour). On the last day, a kind person who was maintaining the lawns, offered to carry my father’s suitcase! Just lovely of him. Perhaps as another poster mentioned, a guide to the cooker could be useful?

The cupboards smelt musty and this made the plates pans etc smell, this was not very nice. The towels were unusable as they smelt damp. The property lacked little extras like some sun chairs and poss a bbq area. Would be good to offer a little food parcel on arrival like milk bread biscuits as some cottages do. I have stayed in privately run cottages before and prefer the love and care they add to your stay. I won’t be staying at the property or booking through Sykes again. Thanks

  • "Lovely cottage, helpful owners and location was excellent to explore the area - we particularly liked Boscastle and Crackington Haven."

It's a ten minute or so walk into Tintagel along the main road and the lovely coastal path took us direct to the the castle cafe in 30minutes. The new bridge at the castle was open so that was well worth a visit. Teenagers loved the bay windows in the house to sit in and chat - a few more bean bags would be a great idea. There is a house now in the garden opposite but it didn't spoil our holiday. TV and Wifi excellent. There are no recycling facilities so we did have a few trips to the local car park to take them.....Could NOT bear to throw away everything that we usually have collected at home! The chickens visited us a lot - we didn't feed them - and one did leave us a present on the front door mat which was interesting! Teenagers named them Monica and Rachel and there were always there to greet us at the end of the day when we got back. Slight issues with the mattress in the main bedroom which was a little soft and tired and some fresh milk upon arrival would be a nice touch . A great stay though in a lovely quiet area......would recommend.

  • "We specifically wanted a house with a sea view from the lounge."

There were lovely views from the bedrooms but we wanted somewhere to relax during the daytime and in the evenings with a sea view. The photos for this property were taken before another building was erected obstructing the sea view. The photos of the sea view from the garden are very misleading, as you can only see the sea from one very high point in the garden which would be impossible to put a chair on. Otherwise the house was lovely and the location was good, but unfortunately we specifically wanted a week with a sea view and so this was very disappointing.

4 nights over New Year with access to all that North Cornwall has to offer. Access to the local tidal beach with its waterfall was very easy to find and the cliff walk to Tintagel a must. The accommodation was very clean and had all the usual utilities, a huge bath with rainhead and normal shower made warming up after a long winters walk a pleasure. The beds were all very comfy and the kitchen well stocked of equipment. No washing machine, but we planned this in advance so it wasn’t a problem for us. Sea views were lovely. Shops in Tintagel a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk. Will stay again for sure

Lovely garden with pub style bench. You can walk into Tintagel by foot and it is also minutes by car from the lovely Boscastle. Due to the spiral staircase and floor level opening windows in the bedroom and downstairs bathroom, I suggest this is not a property for kids or elderly people. Lovely bedrooms, beautiful and comfy. Good mobile signal and wireless (we work a bit on holiday!) and TV. Clean fresh kitchen. Could do with two side tables on lounge area as nowhere to put cups, books etc.Do not feed the seagulls- they get too bold.

About the location

TINTAGEL

Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and within a short distance is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a short but scenic drive.
