  • "Excellent property."

    Very friendly owners

  • "Lovely accommodation, very clean, very homely."

Can only point out very minor improvements which would be a cheese grater in the drawer and perhaps some usb points incorporated into the sockets on the walls. The property was tricky to locate so perhaps a ‘Barn Owl Cottage’ sign at the turning off the road? It currently says High Witheven Farm and until you are at the cottage there’s nothing to says that’s where your supposed to head to. These are very small points though, the place was excellent!

The owners Ann and Gerry were so helpful and friendly - the only thing missing was a spatula for fried eggs! North Cornwall is great to visit … we will be back.

Ann and Gerry were very welcoming and ready for a chat if we met but otherwise were unobtrusive. The cottage has everything that we could wish for . It is an excellent base for visiting Bude ,Tintagel and Boscastle and discovering new places too .

  • "We stayed at Barn owl cottage for a week."

We were blown away at how beautiful the area and the cottage was, tucked away. Anne and Gerry were lovely and we instantly felt welcomed by them. They are very down to earth and we had a laugh. Barn owl cottage had everything we needed, plus more. The views were amazing and the facilities were excellent. Our two boys had the greatest time playing in the garden area out the back. We felt like home from home. The cottage was so clean and tidy. The on suit bathrooms were brilliant to as the boys had a walk in shower room. Bude was only around 20 minutes down the road and the beach was amazing. The town had everything you needed. I highly recommend to stay here. We will definitely be back. Shereise

  • "It was easy to find the cottage from the directions given and on arrival we were met by Anne the owner who showed us into the property, she gave us a very warm welcome and showed us round also giving some very helpful local information, her husband Gerry was working elsewhere on the farm but would introduce himself later."

The cottage was very cosy exceptionally clean and well appointed to make our stay enjoyable, being an upside down living arrangement gave wonderful views of the surrounding farmland. It is ideally situated for visits to Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Bude, Tintagel, Padstow and a visit to Lanhydrock estate is highly recommended. All in all Barn Owl Cottage is ideal for anyone wanting a relaxing and peaceful holiday the private garden and play area for children is a bonus if you don't want to travel to any of the locations nearby.

  • "A lovely cottage on a farm!"

Gorgeous location with views from both sides of the cottage and a good location for exploring Cornwall. Quiet - we couldn't hear anything from next door and the sheep are also very good neighbours! Exactly as advertised with kind hosts.

  • "We had a fabulous stay at Barn Owl Cottage and would happily return."

It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Both bedrooms are en suite and on the ground floor with the living room/kitchen upstairs - there was even a loo up there too! Great views over surrounding farmland and little lambs pinging around. Lovely to meet the owners, as they live close by. Great location for exploring North Cornwall. A previous review had suggested using the What 3 Words App (shed.self.exotic) to find the location and that worked a treat. Sat navs can send you some ‘interesting’ routes sometimes! It is very rural but that suited us and we loved the peace and quiet. Thank you Ann and Gerry.

  • "We had a wonderful week stay in second week of October and highly recommend."

Ann was a welcoming host and takes great pride in the barn conversions. We were presented with a large tub of apples from the kitchen garden on our departure. A very quiet and peaceful location along access road to farm. Beautiful setting with wildlife. Some of the lanes are narrow and the best route to and from the A39, being mainly straight, is to Wainhouse Corner. Good access to Bude, Launceston, Tintagel and Boscastle where we enjoyed some walks on the Coastal Path. A very clean and comfortable accommodation, fine for us as a couple but good for 4 guests. Plenty of equipment and very good heating. Enjoy a relaxing stay.

  • "I’m not going give a rave review about how fantastic our stay was, it’s already been said in prior reviews and I totally agree."

The owners live on site and they were helpful, friendly, and everything was as, and better than, we expected. Instead I’m going to post a very useful bit of advice. Despite all attempts to get TomTom to guide me here it failed miserably. So, my advice is once you’re near your destination use what3words to pinpoint your cottage to within a metre or two. What3words is a mobile App that’s accurate to a 3m square. Of course you can use it for the entire journey, whatever you prefer. You will be able to view the three words in Directions prior to your arrival, and you will be guided to your front door. Enjoy your holiday. We did. FOR SYKES PROPLE ADD THIS TO DIRECTIONS For either cottage (Barn Owl or Swallows Nest) use “shed.self.exotic”

The space and facility are brilliant. More than what we had expected! Love the airy lounge! Anne and Gerry were great hosts. We arrived late at night and couldn’t find the property. Anne was on the phone giving us directions and Gerry walked half way down a long lane to meet us. Absolutely appreciate their hospitality. We’ll highly recommend the property to our friends. If we are back in the area, we would love to stay in the property again.

  • "Hi! The house and the owners were absolutely lovely."

We had a great holiday and made some fantastic memories. The house was clean, had all the amenities we needed (highchair, cotbed, bathtub AND wetroom, and even a playarea!) and was in a quiet village location near a farm with lots of sheep and very cute lambs. The only things I'd like to add are: - The house is 'upside down' in the sense that the bedrooms are downstairs, and kitchen etc are upstairs. This means that you spend most of your time upstairs - we have a toddler and the stairs are quite steep so that was a problem. Luckily the owner asked us if we wanted a stairgate and that solved the problem! - In the confirmation email we were told that you have to ring the owner 24hrs prior to arrival for Key collection details. I rang the owner lots of times but didn't manage to get hold of them, and Sykes just told me to keep trying which wasn't too helpful. We got really worried about not being able to get keys, especially as the house is in a tiny village, it would have been a long drive for nothing if we couldn't get the keys! As it turned out, the owners live right next door so I wouldn't have needed to chase them. If the Sykes staff had been aware they could have just told us and we would have saved ourselves a lot of worrying.
