"Having been clients of Carbis bay holidays for many years we were so disappointed and disgusted by our recent experience."
The property is really nice but it has been allowed to deteriorate over time, with little or no maintenance.
The cleaning was terrible, mould in the fridge and shower which we had to clean before we could use them. The freezer was unusable due to mould and someone elses content.
The bathroom radiators did not work, even though this had been reported many times, the upstairs one was wired in against current standards, we had the downstairs one mended but we're still without the upstairs one after three weeks.
If that wasn't bad enough the cupboard door fell off hitting my wife.
The cleaners were sent after the first week, but it was left to me to explain how they had failed to clean properly and left the freezer unusable. They did clean the apartment properly that time but there is obviously no inspection taking place to maintain standards.
It was impossible to get anyone from Carbis bay holidays to answer the phone until my fourth attempt, the office had a notice saying that it was not manned that day, or infact most days, but nothing to say that the staff were infact. just up the road in their SECRET OFFICE,.
When I made contact through the email all I had back were automated messages.
The owner apologised but nothing but excuses from Carbis bay holidays or Sykes.
Finally some German clients arrived at an adjoining property and were unable to stay because of the cleanliness of that apartment and all they got back were automated messages until I directed them to the SECRET OFFICE.
I have rebooked the apartment for next year with an assurance that my comments will be acted upon and we will be able to enjoy all three weeks of our holiday and the standards return to what they were and what we have a right to expect.

"Second time staying at the property."
It’s comfortable and close to all our favourite places to visit. The bus stops just outside the apartments and is very convenient for getting to Penzance. It’s nice to use the bus and see the countryside. The bus to Mousehole is definitely worth using.

"Arrived on a very cold day and the property was freezing."
Instructions for the heating and other appliances were difficult to follow. The heating was broken and an engineer came. He was super and got the heating on. As it's old electric storage heaters it didn't come warm until the following morning. Not a good start. Improved after that but the heated towel rail (reported as not working in reviews over a year ago) still didn't work. The wiring to the TV and entertainment system was a real mess. Extension cables, many tangled wires etc. As open it could be a real problem area for small children. It took me half an hour to get the TV working. Multiple unlabelled remote controls, poor instructions and a lead not connected at the back made it rather a challenge. After the initial problems the stay improved but our view of the property and the holiday was affected. The view of the bay from the window was lovely though.

"In fairness were were not at Atlantic Blue very much, sleeping there only."
I would rate it as average. We were part of a larger walking group staying at "Tremorva" and so we cooked and ate there. The flat was adequate for our needs and as described. Perhaps the only let down was the bedding in the ensuite was damp and clothes got a little damp in the twin cupboard. The towel rails did not warm up. We did receive a phone call saying there was a problem with the remote and that there was a button to press instead. That did work but it switched itself off before getting up to temperature. There did appear to be underfloor heating in the bathroom which helped. A torch was needed to get to the keys in the key safe after dark.

"Lovely property well furnished and clean."
Great view of the sea from the top bedroom. Easy to walk into St Ives.
Only small downside is water was very hot and couldn’t adjust it and only one towel rail came on then couldn’t figure out how to turn it off.
It would have been good to have washing up liquid and more dishwasher tablets.
Only niggly things though would still stay again.

"Stunning view and great location."
Really happy with our stay and the apartment had everything we needed. We couldn’t get the game console to work but decided that it was a good thing! Pieces missing in the St Ives puzzle but we had fun trying to complete it on a rainy day.

"Apartment is nice with great views, but whoever cleans all the whites doesn’t do a good job, and there seems to be no quality control process in place."
When we arrived the first thing we had to do was to complain about the dirty towels and bed linen. The agency reacted relatively fast and we had new ones delivered next day, but they weren’t great either. We just gave up at that point, as we knew if we complaint again, the next lot wouldn’t be any better. Please get the basics right, as this was not the first time it has happened.

Fabulous location for St Ives or Carbis bay beaches and facilities. Amazing views from the master bedroom. Clean tidy and well equipped, everything you need if you want to stay in and cook. Showers are powerful and easy to regulate the temperature. Look forward to returning.

"Very comfortable accommodation with everything we needed for the week."
It’s in a good position for exploring from Saint Ives to the Lizard and Lands End. There’s also a good bus service that stops outside the apartments and makes it easier to visit places without the worry of parking. We recommend the open top bus tour from Saint Ives to Lands End and back along the north coast.

"It was perfect for us."
Ideally located for us to visit all that Cornwall has to offer. A short walk into lovely St Ives. Lovely beach at Carbis Bay too. 5 mins walk to Tesco and the local pub.

"The property was very nice with really lovely views and decent sized bedrooms."
The washing line was extremely useful and plenty of clothes storage space.
The only downsides were:
The lack of a separate freezer. As a family of 4 staying for 2 weeks, the small fridge with an icebox was just not big enough. There really needs to be a separate freezer. (There appeared to be one upstairs in the cupboard but it wasn’t plugged in to be used).
There were lots of cobwebs on lamps etc and a snail on the top of the window frame so cleanliness was a bit lacking.
The glass table had six chairs but was very small even for 4 of us.

"Lovely apartment with stunning views to wake up to."
Well equipped and with a really comfy bed and good quality linen. Plenty of fluffy towels too. Never find leather sofas particularly cosy myself but that's just a personal preference. Very clean apart from when I stored my suitcase under the bed in the main bedroom and a few balls of fluff floated out. A tumbleweed moment! Hardly a disaster though! I would definitely come back here especially if I could order the same great weather I enjoyed this time.

"Absolutely beautiful apartment."
Very homely. Welcome pack on arrival fantastic. Views amazing. Master bedroom a perfect space to relax. Only problem was the heated towel rail didn't work for the duration of our stay. Engineer was sent out same day but it still didn't work. We were informed the engineer would come back but if he did we had no feedback and damp towels the whole week as it didn't work for the duration of our stay. Not the owners fault! The walk to & from the beach is quite difficult unless you're super fit but well worth it. The apartment has everything you could need and if anybody is unsure as to make a booking....you won't be disappointed. The pictures do not do the place or the view justice. We had a lovely stay and would definately return

"Only issue we found was there was a few cobwebs over the place (my husband was more picky on this than I was) and the hot water did run out quite quickly we found, so for 5 adults we had to schedule our showers stealthily which wasn't the best, but other than this we really enjoyed our stay!"

"There was an issue with the shower in the main bathroom."
This was not delivering hot water. Management acted on this as soon as we informed them but it couldn’t be resolved before we left. The en suite shower was fine though. Otherwise the facilities were very good overall and the property was comfortable. The kitchen area would have been very cramped for the six people the property could accommodate.

The property itself is comfortable, as described and in a great location, it was very dusty around the TV and on the unit and near the lamp, also dusty under the sofas, everywhere else was clean and tidy and is always nice to have a welcome pack :)
I have booked with Carbis Bay holidays for a couple of years over several properties within the bay, I will look elsewhere now the prices have increased since being taken over

"We have booked via Carbis Bay holidays many, many times over the past few years, and they have always been excellent."
However, takeover by Sykes seems to have changed this for the worse.
The bed in the main bedroom had not been changed prior to our arrival; there were no pillow or mattress protectors on the bed; the sheet was stained with what can only have been urine stains; the mattress was the filthiest I have ever seen on a bed. As arrival is not permitted until after 5pm, the company were not contactable so we had to start by washing bedding and turning over the mattress. As the mattress is not designed for reversal, this made it uncomfortable to sleep on.
An emailed complaint was responded to very quickly with a voicemail message, but the Sykes switchboard was disconnecting calls (for 2 days) when we tried to call back - it seems it's not possible to speak direct to Carbis Bay holidays any longer without going via Sykes......this is definitely a massive degradation in service.
When we were eventually able to speak to Carbis Bay Holidays, they very quickly provided a mattress protector that did at least make the bed slightly more comfortable. However, this is not the answer......the disgustingly filthy mattress needs to be replaced immediately, and mattress and pillow protectors need to be provided as a matter of course.
We have already booked another holiday in Atlantic Blue for next month, based on our previously excellent service from Carbis Bay Holidays. Had we waited until we had visited Atlantic Blue, however, we would not have booked it again.
It will be interesting to see if the mattress has been replaced before we return. We will also think twice about future bookings now that Sykes are the business owners.

We understand you are returning to us in the coming weeks and would like to explain that when you enter our properties, if you call from the number you gave us when booking your stay, as a priority your call comes through to us in the local office. We are open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm, so we are still in the office upon check in time to assist with any queries our guests may have.
We are also supported out of these hours by our customer relations team at Sykes head office, which can assist and speak with our out of hours team in the local area in emergency cases.
Its great to hear that we acted as swiftly as we did once we knew of the issues.
Please be assured that we have passed the points to the housekeeper of the property to investigate and we once again would like to apologise. The owner is also taking your comments on board and the mattress has now been replaced as this was the first time that the owner had had it reported to them and they acted as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.

The accommodation was of a high standard, modern, bright and clean and had everything required for a very comfortable stay. The views from the windows were fabulous and the location was ideal as it meant we could either walk the coastal path or catch the bus into St Ives and then only use the car for other trips. In addition to this the walk down to Carbis Bay beach was very nice although the walk back up was a little more challenging!"
