  • "The house was great value and ideal for a short holiday in the St Ives area."

The accommodation was of a very high standard and was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for six people. The kitchen had all the facilities we needed. We would be happy to stay at Driftwood Haven again.

  • "A lovely property which was relatively clean and had some lovely decor."

What disappointed me after a long tiring journey,…there wasn’t any welcome pack such as a pint of milk, tea or coffee. This wasn’t a cheap property and little welcoming touches make a difference. There was a very thick duvet on the bed and needs to be changed in warm weather as made sleep very difficult. I was disappointed that we couldn’t see the sea when sat in the garden as the pictures give the impression that you can. The back garden has no furniture and very little room for sitting out. The front garden has the sunshine in the mornings but there is no view except for a garage and driveway opposite and the garden is not particularly pretty. Overall I didn’t think it represented good value for money.

  • "Beautiful house and fantastic location."

Quiet in the evening but easy to walk to lots of restaurants, beaches and Tesco! Bus stop outside incase we didn’t fancy walking in to St Ives, though it’s not far. Ideal for the five of us. Amazing sea views from two of the bedrooms which was an added bonus. Lovely bedrooms, en-suite, living area, kitchen and front decking perfect for a sunny breakfast spot. Only suggestions for improvement would be to give the grout in the shower in the main bathroom a clean up and also in the back garden, there was a little BBQ but no outdoor seating. A little table and a few chairs would have been handy, but I accept it’s probably not usually as hot and sunny as it was when we were there! Thank you

  • "We could not give any points for cleanliness because there were still a lot of dark hairs on the floor from previous guests."

This is disgusting and you can see that it was not cleaned properly. Superficially the house was clean, but on closer inspection it was not. The oven was so encrusted with dirt from the previous tenants that we had to clean it for a long time before we could use. The cleaning team should also have a look in there. The cleaning team has some learning to do. Sorry. Also, the fact that there were only 4 towels for a two-week stay is not okay. You can't eat anything hard with the cheap forks and the knives don't cut either. Maybe something can be improved. It is written everywhere that you should strip the beds when you leave, we did it for whatever reason, but the old hand soap containers were still in the bathroom. This is not in line with Covid regulations, if is the same for the beds. Also, the guest does not want so see the stains left on the mattresses by the previous guest!! For the price and rating, it could be better. Also, we missed a welcome basket. The decor of the house is very well done. After some initial hassle and cleaning, we were able to enjoy our holiday in our beloved Cornwall. We are sorry that we cannot give a full score, but the cleaning should be better. And it is supposed to be an honest feedback.

  • "Lovely house."

We enjoyed our stay here and would book again. Perfect location for us, just outside of the hustle and bustle but well within walking distance of it all. Bus stop just down the road if you don’t want the climb back from st Ives. House was nice and clean, lovey furnishings and everything we needed. One small suggestion it would have been nice to have access to Netflix etc especially if the weather had turned bad, otherwise brilliant stay. Thank you

Thankyou for your comments and pleased you enjoyed your stay. Just to note that Netflix is available on the television (as is Prime and all the other digital channels) - you just have to log in with your details. Property Owner

  • "Modern property and a good base for a holiday in this part of Cornwall."

Good choice of restaurants locally. The tapas bar close by is excellent. Walkable to the sands at Carbis Bay and St Ives although the hills are steep. Beach is nice and patrolled by lifeguards. Easy drive to Penzance and St Michaels Mount and the larger shops down there if needed.

  • "The property was lovely, very spacious and had everything we needed for a family of five for the week."

It was a great location to walk down to Carbis Bay beach and we walked to St Ives easily one day in about 25 mins. There is also a bus stop two minutes walk from the house which took about 5 mins to get to St Ives should you not want to walk. There is a Tesco around the corner and some restaurants and a pub within walking distance also. Great house and would definitely return.

  • "Absolutely gorgeous property and very clean."

6 adults staying and we didn’t feel overcrowded at all. Sea views from 2 bedrooms. Everything you needed was supplied in the property. Very quiet area. st Ives is walking distance or there’s a bus every 1/2 hour. We got all 3 cars on the drive with ease. Will definitely be staying here again.

  • "Hi, fantastic house, lovely decor and views."

We very much enjoyed staying in this house. If I had to make any constructive feedback I would suggest that the main en suite should have a sliding door as the current set up is very awkward to access the toilet, especially in the night when you don't want to put lights in etc. Access to the front door is via steps or slope, but there is a half step in the decking which each one of us tripped on at least a few times. Would suggest, although I appreciate not pretty, it really needs some kind of hazard or yellow tape to show the change in level. Otherwise would return no problem

  • "Lovely house in a great location We found the house to be exactly as described and pictured."

Perfectly located to wander down to the beach at Carbis Bay or into St Ives (our preference over driving the narrow streets). Ideally located just next to a supermarket for those quick essentials. Furnishings and decor were like a home from home, very comfy and well equipped. Utility room was a huge bonus as we got caught in a few autumnal rain showers so really valued the washer/dryer and drying rack. We didn't have any issues with access, yes the road is narrow and unmade, but the listing was clear on that. We have two large SUVs that we travelled in and were perfectly able to get down the lane and comfortably parked on the drive. We'd have no hesitation to stay again.

  • "Driftwood Haven is a really lovely place to stay in a good location."

It's away from the hustle and bustle of St Ives, but close enough to make it accessible on foot (30 minute walk). Tesco's is a stone's throw away. Gwithian beach is good for surfing and is about a 15-20 minute drive from the house. The property itself is great, the only thing missing is a large frying pan! In high season it's wise to pre-book restaurants and taxis. Beck's fish and chips in Carbis Bay is definitely worth a visit. We would have no hesitation staying at Driftwood Haven again.

We were 3 couples and the house offered everything we could ask for. The furniture and decor were high quality and it felt like a real home from home. We contacted the owner to ask a couple of questions and he couldn’t have been more accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and will certainly go back if we tour the area again. Thank you.

  • "Access to the property is very poor and this wasn’t made clear in the listing."

The lane is very narrow and uneven. I have an SUV and struggled to fit down the lane, if I had anything larger I wouldn’t have been able to drive to the property. It’s also difficult to get on and off the driveway.

Great location for walking to the beaches of Carbis bay or St ives. The lane leading to the property is tight, although I have a Discovery and managed it fine. Well laid out and well equipped property, we will use again if we return to Carbis Bay.
